One look at the unique design of the Sony HT-CT370 and you'll know it's not an ordinary sound bar. Sure it will greatly improve your TV's sound, delivering movie sound effects, TV dialogue, and music with clarity and power. But its the extra features this 2.1-channel system offers that have us excited.
The angular design of the HT-CT370's sound bar will add a touch of style to your living room. Mount it on your wall or place it on a stand — the built-in gyro-sensor will detect the bar's orientation to properly adjust sound output. The slim subwoofer not only connects wirelessly to the bar, but it can stand up or lay flat, so you should have no shortage of places to put it.
Mount the HT-CT370 on your wall, or place it on your TV stand. The built-in gyro-sensor will detect your setup and optimize the sound bar's robust output to its positioning.
Some sound bars offer HDMI connectivity. But very few offer three HDMI inputs like the HT-CT370. Connect your cable box, Blu-ray player, and gaming system via HDMI to the sound bar. Then a single cable connects the bar to your TV, for a clean setup. The output offers single-remote control capability with TVs that offer HDMI control (CEC) functionality — turning on one component can even trigger other HDMI-connected components to power on. With advanced Dolby® and DTS® audio decoding, as well as 3D and 4K video pass through, you'll hear and see all the detail your Blu-ray movies offer.
Built-in Bluetooth makes it easy to get the music started with your smartphone, tablet, or compatible computer. Pair your device with the HT-CT370 for wireless playback with tunes stored on your smartphone or streamed from your favorite music service. Download Sony's SongPal app and use your smartphone as a Bluetooth remote to control the sound bar.
With so much functionality, it's nice that Sony provides you the option to optimize this system's sound for various applications. Seven listening modes offer sound tailored for music, movies, sports, video games, even music from portable devices. Having trouble with dialogue? The "voice" feature enhances dialogue clarity by making it stand out in the mix. You can also tweak the bass response of the subwoofer to dial in explosive sound effects, or tame the volume for late night viewing. Best of all, all these tweaks are easily made on the included remote.
Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.
The sound bar has great voice clarity. I like the different mode it allows you to choose from, for example movie, dialogue, sports and music. The sub woofer is a little underwhelming. However it's perfect for a bedroom when you don't want to much bass to carry through to other bed rooms.
Pros: Clear dialogue Easy set up and connectivity
Cons: Lacking a little thump in the bass.
Wow! What a difference. After listening to the factory speakers on my wife's flat screen for a year purchasing the Sony sound bar was fantastic. The subwoofer really brings out the lows in the old pictures she likes to watch. It is hard to believe that you can here surround sound from just a bar of speakers, but the Sony sound bar performs great. I can hear planes flying from one side of the room to the other now.
Pros: Easy setup
We just bought this gadget yesterday. Out of the box we pair it with a Samsung 55" Smart TV. The pairing goes well, definitely the sound from the Smart TV was enhanced far more better than just by relying on the internal speakers. Over-all the sound quality is very good, there are various audio options you can select from through the remote control. The coupled sub-woofer (via blue tooth) also works well.
Pros: Reasonable price. Better sound quality for the same class as compared with its competitors Nice design and build than can compliment with the interior Compact and space saving design. Easy set-up and fast connectivity
Cons: There is an issue on the on/off remote. The unit is always ON unless you unplug it. It cant be turned off using the remove control. This is probably an original factory set-up however the menu button on the remote control also can't be activated to change the settings.
Overall for the price of this product it produces good clear sound for small to medium size room. The subwoofer is not as impactful, but it does provide a good balance.
Pros: Sound clarity and balance.
Cons: Need to follow the manual in setting up to achieve desired results, which could be better written as other reviewers stated it is a little hard to follow.
We love this sound bar, beats having wires all over with surround sound systems.
Pros: Fills living room with great sound.
Cons: None at this time.
Good match to my new Sony TV which has poor sound quality. Sound bar system remote also activates my entire Sony audio system (not appreciated) and the sound bar does not activate with cable-box remote (Comcast blames Sony for not providing a code---Sony said they no longer supply codes because they want customers to buy Sony's universal controllers. Dialog enhancement is good, sub-woofer volume is inadequate. Sound bar display not visible when bar is placed flat in front of TV. Not everyone mounts TV's on the wall. Why don't the major brand TV's include a pair of wireless speakers to provide audio to match the high-definition video we watch, or offer them at additional cost?
Pros: Solves the problem of dialog being lost in background noise, common when watching today's movies. That's what the system is supposed to do. It seems as though the audio problems should be addressed and solved by the TV folks. Maybe for less than $300.
Cons: At only two-inches of height the sound bar blocks remote control of new Sony TV (needed for 'input' selection for example) when placed in front of the TV. Sony, these are both your products! Duh?
Worth every penny
I received my first speaker but the subwoofer was damaged. The second one I received worked like a charm nice sound good bass easy to set up and I like that I can control the subwoofer volume separately.
Pros: Easy to set up Bluetooth connectivity Regular aux input for connecting ipods and other audio devices
The unit was quickly received and easy to install and operate. Performed as expected.
Pros: Quality of sound and installation
The sound seems to be coming out of a tin can. I tried all of the "effects" and "voice" settings but none would produce a pleasant sounding dialog. Music is fine but voice and movies sound artificial.
Pros: Works great using HDMI control. Bluetooth music sounds very good.
Cons: Dialog doesn't sound very good.
Purchased this along with my New Sony Smart TV. Nice sound bar to match the TV. Clear sound and it was an easy hook up. Like the different setting for the sound bar.
Pros: Good match with a Sony TV.
Cons: The SubWoofer just needs a little more volume adjustment.
My rating is 4 stars because i've actually haven't heard or seen the performanc of this sound bar. I bought the Sony Sound Bar for my parent who have never owned a Blu Ray and sound bar system. I know at first they [my retired parents] where daunted by the potential complexity of setting up the system alone. But it turned out that getting out in the middel of an Iowa snow storm to buying an HDMI cable was, by far, the hardest part of the set-up and installation of the unit. They love it now, including the Bluetooth features, and think the sound is better than there old 5-channel DENON DVD surround system, even when playing DVD. I do wish Sony HDMI settings would work better with Samsung TV HDMI setting allowing for control via 1 remote.
Pros: Easy setup, Sony predictability
Cons: Best to pair Sony devices with Sony TV
Bought this sound bar as an upgrade over the standard speakers on our Sharp LED TV. Really enjoying it so far. Bluetooth connections are simple and Pandora music through my phone sounds great.
Pros: Easy to set up right out of the box. Bluetooth connections are easy.
Cons: Nothing so far
Easy set up. Great addition to my Sony 55" 4K TV. Subwoofer hits pretty decent. Sleek design. Took up a lot less room then my huge Sony full size system that I bought back in 1999 that got replaced with this. Must have piece of equipment if you get a new TV.
Pros: Looks great. Takes minutes to set up.
Cons: None yet.
Really pleased with the quality and ease of use with this soundbar. We had bought our children each one for Christmas gifts and they loved them too.
Pros: Easy to set up, operate. Great sound and options for different shows.
Not nearly loud enough for my normal sized living room
Pros: Not loud enough
Cons: Not loud enough
Sony instruction still hard to understand. Remote used to program bar not user friendly. Sound grate.
Pros: once you get pass the instruction sheet hard to understand directions to program sound bar with remote, which itself is hard to operate, after getting everything hooked up things where good. Great sound.
Cons: dose not list my tv to link to sound bar so that you can use remote to turn bar and ty off and on together. Can not have ty sound on with bar, sound off, out of sink, when trying to use together have to mute tv sound for bar to come in clear. Have not called sony about problems yet they may have some answers.Crutchfield response on January 12, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Excellent sound, so good I don't mind listening to Pandora with this sound bar as opposed to by Cerwin Vega Loudspeakers and stereo amp.
Pros: Excellent sound, ease of use.
needed better audio for aging plasma TV with good picture quality, bad built-in speakers this was the ideal solution breathing new audio life into an older generation flat screen TV simple to install (wall mounts included), versatile connectivity and remote control
Pros: unimposing clean appearance, light weight
Gave as a gift. They say they love it. Easy to set up and had it working in no time. No complaints!
Pros: Ease of use, looks great, sounds great for a sound bar system.
Perfect for home theater feel without the price of entire home theater system. When listening to music from my phone (S4) with bluetooth, I don't feel the sound as much as I would like. Perfect for movies and tv.
Great sound easy setup, My hearing isn't what it was years ago and with the Dialogue being clearer its wonderful as well as the remote nice size nice to control both the TV and the sound bar
Pros: Great all around Unit, Good Quality
Cons: It would be nice to have a lighted Remote.
Bought this as a gift for my son and daughter in law. He had it hooked up in minutes and it sounded great with his LG television.
I purchased this as a gift for my son and daughter in law. They use it in a great room with a Samsung TV. They say it was easy to set up and has great sound with dialogue and music.
Pros: Easy set up. Good sound quality,
Cons: Non so far.
Does what it advertised, nice addition to a Sony TV
Pros: Low profile, works well with other Sony product (TV). Good sound, easy to set up.
Cons: Not 5 or 7 channels, other systems offer more power.
The sound bar sounds great. Quick easy setup, easy to adjust subwoofer volume, simple remote control
Pros: Quick easy setup, easy to adjust subwoofer volume, simple remote control
Cons: Does not come with a HDMI cable
There were two primary reasons I got this sound bar: richer, deeper sound and clearer dialog It does both quite nicely. The separate sub-woofer isn't overpowering but adds those nice rich low tones to music, movie sound, etc. But, the biggest improvement was clearer dialog. For example, we love Elementary, the TV show about a modern Sherlock Holmes, is one of our favorites due to complex plots and mostly Holmes's character. But his rapid fire, heavily accented dialog was often incomprehensible. I'd back up and try again (we DVR everything) but sometimes even that didn't work and it was a pain. [Both my wife and I had the same problem, so it's only partly from age.] Well, we've watched 3 episodes with the sound bar and we've missed perhaps 2 words the entire time. Note that this is our first sound bar, so the comparison is with the sound from our oldish Aquos TV. Anyway, my bottom line is: "what took me so long?"
Pros: Clearer dialog Great with movies and music Good price Crutchfield tech support terrific helping me with the setup (see below); he even called back when we were cut off (!!!!!!!)
Cons: Explanation of various sound settings is inadequate. Setup alternatives not at all clear in the user guide; (see above)
Bought this system to replace my old sony surround system, and I am impressed with the performance of this small unit. I love the fact that the rear speaker is wireless and it's sounds better than I anticipated. I have my tv mounted on the wall which means the sound came from back of the tv and it made it hard to understand sometimes, but this system fixed that problem. The only complaint that I have is the hdmi connection position. When mounted on the wall, the plugs go straight up and this means I cant mount it flush to the bottom of the tv and it looks terrible that way. But overall I am happy with this product for the price.
Pros: Wireless sub.
Cons: Hdmi connection ports.
WOW Great Sounds from the system. This sounds like a five speaker system paired with sony tv. Great sound from movie or tv.
Pros: Great Sony Quality
Love the low profile, great sound, attractive design, night time feature great for watching without waking the kiddos, and Sony quality.
Pros: Great sound bar for the money.
Cons: Not free.
This is a great sound bar. It really makes what I'm watching more enjoyable with its sound clarity, and the subwoofer hits the low tones great.
Pros: Great sound, relatively easy to set up, looks good
Cons: It is not compatible with the Netflix that is built into my TV, so I have to watch Netflix through another system hooked into an HDMI port.
Perfect replacement for aging Sony receiver and bookshelf speakers.
Pros: Great sound. Easy setup. Perfect bass for mid-sized living room. 3 HDMI inputs.
Cons: HDMI cables would stick upward and not hidden if wall mounted.
Great price for a sound bar with sub-woofer, HDMI switching, and bluetooth capabilities
Pros: HDMI switching, bluetooth, wireless sub woofer.

Overview: The Sony HT-CT370 Home Theater System is a two-piece surround sound system which includes an amplified soundbar speaker and a wireless powered subwoofer module. This two-piece home theater system brings simplicity and performance together by pairing an self-amplified soundbar speaker and a wireless powered subwoofer to create a surround sound experience in a compact and easy to install package. The HT-CT370 home theater system features HDMI connectivity, Dolby Digital & DTS decoding, along with S-Force Front Surround; plus built-in Bluetooth w/ NFC. The HT-CT370 includes an IR remote control and offers a free app for your Apple iOS or Android device for wireless operation of the system.
Active Soundbar Speaker: The HT-CT370's soundbar speaker houses two 2.375" full-range, cone drivers in an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure, powered by a 100-watt x 2-channel S-Master digital amplifier. The soundbar speaker acts as your home theater systems front and center speakers as well as giving you the effect that you have rear speakers positioned behind you. The soundbar speaker can be securely placed on a stand or shelf via its two integrated feet, or even wall mounted using the included brackets and their rear-mounted keyhole slots (mounting screws sold separately). The wall-mount bracket's keyhole slots are spaced 25.6875" apart.
Wireless Powered Subwoofer: The HT-CT370 wireless powered subwoofer is equipped with a front-firing 4" x 6" oval-cone woofer in a bass-reflex enclosure (rear-firing port), powered by a built-in 100W S-Master digital amplifier. The wireless powered subwoofer gets its signal from the system's soundbar wirelessly, via 5.8GHZ RF wireless transmission. The wireless powered sub can be placed virtually anywhere in your room; it can be mounted vertically or horizontally. There are no extra audio cables to run; you do have to plug the powered sub into an AC outlet.
S-Force Pro Front Surround: S-Force Pro Front Surround provides realistic surround sound from this two-piece home theater system. Unlike other "virtual surround" technologies, rear sound is generated from the soundbar speaker using sophisticated digital sound processing and does not need to be bounced off of side walls. No matter what the size or shape of the room or what is on the wall, it is possible to hear sounds from behind you without needing to place speakers behind you. You can select from one of the following sound fields to optimize your surround sound experience.
Note: You can also activate ClearAudio+ which automatically makes sound adjustments based on the type of content you are enjoying.
Digital Surround Formats: The HT-CT370 features Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, as well as support for multi-channel PCM. Supported formats include:
Audio Adjustments: The HT-CT370 home theater system offers various audio adjustments to customize your music or movie listening experience.
Note: An internal gyro-sensor detects positioning (wall or table-top) of soundbar speaker to optimize the sound depending on orientation.
HDMI Inputs/Output: The Sony HT-CT370 features 3 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output which support 4k pass-through, 1080/24p, x.v./Deep Color, and 3D video; as well as ARC & HDMI control, plus Standby Pass-Through. The HDMI jacks transmit both multi-channel audio and high-definition video signals. The system's HDMI inputs/output supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 4K.
Note: Because with most televisions, the ARC-enabled HDMI input will only pass 2ch PCM from devices connected to the TV via HDMI or analog, we recommend that you connect your Blu-ray/DVD player, Satellite/Cable box, or Gaming console to the Sony HT-CT370 directly; and then connect the HT-CT370's ARC-enabled HDMI output to your TV's ARC-enabled HDMI input. This setup will give you with the best overall sound performance.
Digital + Analog Audio Inputs: The Sony HT-C370 home theater system features both analog (minijack) audio and digital (optical) audio inputs for connecting external audio sources such as your DVD player and CD player that do not offer HDMI connectivity. There is single minijack (3.5mm) analog audio input and one optical (toslink) digital audio input. The optical digital input supports Dolby Digital, DTS, and 2ch PCM audio signals.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Built-in Bluetooth: The Sony HT-CT370 features built-in Bluetooth (version 3.0) with support for A2DP 1.2 & AVRCP 1.3 which allows you to wirelessly stream and control music on your Bluetooth-enabled through the soundbar system.
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Sony HT-CT370.
IR Remote w/ HDMI Control: The HT-CT370 comes supplied with a full-function IR remote control for wireless operation of the system. The IR remote is programmable and offers HDMI control. In addition to controlling the soundbar speaker system, the remote can be used to operate basic functions (Power On/Off, Volume Up/Down, Input) on select Sony, Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Vizio, Sharp, Toshiba, and Funai TVs. HDMI Control allows you to easily manage and operate an HDMI Control compatible television and other audio/video components with a single remote, when all components are connected via HDMI. By connecting HDMI-CEC components operation is simplified in the following ways:
SongPal Remote App (via Bluetooth): By downloading Sony's free SongPal remote app (from iTunes or Google Play), you can use your Apple iOS (6.0+) or Android (2.3+) device to control the HT-CT370 system via Bluetooth. From the SongPal remote app, you can select input sources, switch to other entertainment apps, and customize sound settings of the soundbar speaker system. You'll need to exit this app to stream & control stored music or music apps on your Bluetooth-connected phone.

If you mean other Bluetooth capable devices, such as phones, ipad, ipod, the answer is Yes. The steps for pairing Bluetooth devices are pretty simple. I bought the soundbar for the TV, but it turns out that using it to play music from the ipad is the #1 use in my family. [ Sandra Feb 27, 2015 ]
Don't know, we only used what was in the package. Try their Tech Support. [ Coleman Feb 27, 2015 ]
No, it can be mounted to a wall or you can place it on a flat surface in front of the TV. [ Philip Oct 24, 2014 ]
The sound bar does not.mount to.the tv. You can mount it on the wall or set it in front of the tv on a cabinet. [ Wai Oct 23, 2014 ]
Mine in mounted a few inches below an LG 55 inch tv. [ Cathleen Oct 23, 2014 ]
I don't think so, I'm not 100% sure, but it can be mounted to a wall or can sit in front of the TV on a stand. [ Shawn Oct 23, 2014 ]
If you're talking about setting your TV directly on top of the sound bar - I don't see how it could be done. Ideally, place it in front of the TV. I have mine on a shelf right below. [ JEAN C Oct 23, 2014 ]
Yes [ Jennie Oct 23, 2014 ]
No direct mount to TV. Wall mount or on TV stand. [ RoseMary Oct 23, 2014 ]

Hi Asim. Certainly. You would just need a stereo mini to stereo mini cable. The analog input on the rear of the unit is a stereo mini jack input. [ Jeff Aug 29, 2014 ] Staff
The CT770 was selected due to the additional power and better sounding subwoofer. It's perfect for small spaces. [ Jaime Jul 07, 2014 ]
I prefer sound quality over volume and chose the CT-CT770 for the larger sub-woofer. The base is very good providing the sensory appreciation desired without unnecessary "booming". I am very pleased with the sound quality provided by the more expensive system. [ Pat Jul 04, 2014 ]
