Bluetooth for wireless music and control

Built-in Bluetooth makes it easy to get the music started with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Pair your device with the HT-NT3 for wireless playback with tunes stored on your smartphone or streamed from your favorite music service. Download Sony's SongPal™ app and use your smartphone as a Bluetooth remote to control the sound bar.

Spacious sound

The HT-NT3 sends 266 watts to the sound bar, and routes another 134 watts to the wireless subwoofer. All that power is distributed into a setup that creates a more spacious, accurate soundfield.

Lots of cool tweaks

With so much functionality, it's nice that Sony gives you the option to optimize this system's sound for various applications. Six listening modes offer sound tailored for music, movies, sports, video games, and even music from portable devices. Having trouble with dialogue? The "voice" feature enhances dialogue clarity by making it stand out in the mix. You can also tweak the bass response of the subwoofer to dial in explosive sound effects, or tame the volume for late night viewing. Best of all, all these tweaks are easily made with the included remote.

Soundbar Speaker System: The Sony HT-NT3 is a two-piece surround sound system that brings simplicity and performance together by pairing an active soundbar speaker and a wireless powered subwoofer to create a virtual surround sound experience that complements your high-definition or ultra high-definition flat-panel TV's incredible picture. The HT-NT3's soundbar & sub system will make any music or movie soundtrack come to life.

Active Soundbar: The HT-NT3's soundbar speaker houses two coaxial, full-range drivers in an acoustic suspension (sealed) enclosure, powered by a 133W x 2ch S-Master HX  digital amplifier. Sony's newly-developed coaxial speakers allow exceptional audio performance from a slim, compact soundbar design. The soundbar speaker acts as your home theater systems front and center speakers as well as giving you the effect that you have rear speakers positioned behind you.

    • Coaxial Full-Range Drivers: By combining the 2.625" woofer and 0.75" tweeter in a single two-way speaker unit, a wider frequency range can be reproduced. This ensures no detail is lost, taking your listening closer to the live performance.
      • Wide Dispersion Super Tweeters: The 0.75" coaxial mounted Wide Dispersion Super Tweeters create a wide sound field that maintains its quality across the entire room. High-frequency notes are reproduced in the clarity and detail of High-Resolution Audio, so you'll be able to enjoy realistic and engaging sound wherever you sit.
      • Magnetic Fluid Woofers: In conventional speakers, dampers provide suspension and stability for voice coils, which unfortunately create unwanted noise and distortion. By eliminating speaker dampers and replacing them with magnetic fluid speaker technology, energy efficiency is dramatically improved, and mid ranges are extended in incredible detail and clarity. With Magnetic Fluid Speaker technology, the 2.625" woofers of the soundbar allow a more accurate revealing sound.
    • Aluminum Cabinet: Every element of the  soundbar speaker has been carefully considered, using sharp, clean lines for a striking finish. Using only the highest quality materials, a slim, sleek aluminum body is combined with a stylish glass front panel for a premium finish that perfectly complements your slim TV.

Wireless Powered Sub: The HT-NT3 includes a wireless powered subwoofer that compliments the soundbar for a seamless sound. The wireless subwoofer houses a front-firing 6.375" woofer inside a bass reflex enclosure with front-firing port powered by a built-in 134W S-master HX digital amplifier for big bass response. The wireless powered subwoofer gets its signal from the system's soundbar wirelessly, via 5.8GHZ RF wireless transmission (up to 33'). The compact, stylishly crafted cabinet blends in with any decor.

Sony Technologies: The HT-NT3 incorporates four Sony technologies to give you clear virtual surround sound without distortion.

    • S-Master HX Digital Amplifier: Enjoy the best of digital audio with the S-Master HX digital amplifier. Using a simplified, full digital signal path, the S-Master HX amplifier reproduces digital audio signals without the multiple analog stages required by conventional amplifiers. The result is not just more power, but significantly less distortion from heat build-up.
    • S-Force Pro Front Surround 3D: The HT-NT3 utilizes S-Force Pro Front Surround 3D to deliver virtual surround sound from a two-piece home theater speaker system. S-Force PRO Front Surround 3D mimics the way the brain correlates sound sources to create proper volume, time lag, and sound wave spectrum - using only left and right speaker channels. By naturally emulating three-dimensional sound fields, you'll be able to enjoy rich, high-fidelity audio across a wider listening area.
    • ClearAudio+: Unique to Sony, ClearAudio+ automatically adjusts sound settings for an enriching listening experience. By bringing together expertise in digital signal processing technologies, ClearAudio+ is able to optimize audio formats to deliver a consistently clear, high-quality sound.
    • DSEE HX: The Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HX) upscales your compressed digital music files (2ch 44.1/48kHz) and takes it closer to the quality of High-Resolution Audio (up to 96kHz/24-bit equivalent). By restoring the high-range sound lost in the compression process, DSEE HX produces your digital music files in rich, natural sound, closer to the quality of the original recording. This function does not work with DSD music files.

Digital Surround Formats: The HT-NT3 supports the following digital audio formats.

Note: Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD High Resolution, and LPCM 7ch is only supported via HDMI.

Soundfields: You can select from one of the following soundfields to optimize your surround sound experience.

    • Standard: Provides the sound that corresponds to every source.
    • Movie: Provides the optimized sound for watching movies.
    • Music: Provides the optimized sound for listening to music.
    • Sports: Reproduces the feel of sports broadcasting. Commentary is clear, cheers are heard as surround sound, and sounds are realistic.
    • Game Studio: Provides the optimized sound for playing video games.

Audio Settings: The HT-NT3 home theater system offers various audio adjustments to customize your music or movie listening experience.

    • Clear Voice: With Clear Voice, you'll be sure to hear every whisper and character nuance of the dialog compared to other sounds in the scene for a dynamic experience.
    • Night Mode: Using Night mode, you can enjoy sound effects and hear the dialog clearly even at a low volume levels.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can adjust the level of the powered sub independently from the system's main volume.
    • Audio DRC: This feature compresses and narrows the dynamic range of a Dolby Digital/DTS sound track for enjoying movies at low volume.

Digital + Analog Audio Inputs: The Sony HT-NT3 soundbar system features both analog (minijack) audio and digital (optical) audio inputs for connecting external audio sources such as your DVD player and CD player that do not offer HDMI connectivity. There is single minijack (3.5mm) analog audio input and one optical (toslink) digital audio input. The optical digital input supports Dolby Digital, DTS, and 2ch PCM audio signals.

Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).

ARC (Audio Return Channel): HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) means audio is also carried back to the soundbar from your ARC compatible TV through the soundbar's HDMI output, without the need for an extra audio cable. Every device connected to your TV can now be heard through the soundbar system, so you can hear all of your audio in high quality.

Note: Because with most televisions, the ARC-enabled HDMI input will only pass 2ch PCM from devices connected to the TV via HDMI or analog, we recommend that you connect your Blu-ray/DVD player, Satellite/Cable box, or Gaming console to the Sony HT-NT3 directly; and then connect the HT-NT3's ARC-enabled HDMI output to your TV's ARC-enabled HDMI input. This setup will give you with the best overall sound performance.
    Video Section

HDMI 2.0: The Sony HT-NT3 features three HDMI 2.0 inputs and one HDMI 2.0 output which supports 4K pass-through, 1080/24p video, x.v.Color, Deep Color, and 3D; as well as ARC and standby pass-through. The system can detect and receive the best possible video and audio signals from all connected devices via HDMI, making connection and performance as simple as plugging in a single wire. Sony's HDMI Active Intelligence, transmits both audio and video signals through one HDMI cable. The system's HDMI jacks support 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and 4K.

    • 4K Pass-Through: 4K Pass-Through allows the Sony HT-NT3 to receive ultra high-definition resolution video and pass the video signal to a 4K compatible TV or display monitor.
    • HDCP 2.2: HDCP 2.2 is supported by the system's HDMI 1 input and HDMI ARC output. HDCP 2.2 is short for "High bandwidth Digital Content Protection" and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with 4K Blu-ray players and 4K Satellite/Cable providers.
    • 4:4:4 Color Subsampling: The receiver's HDMI 2.0 jacks support RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4 color subsampling for more vibrant and lifelike images, as well as YCbCr 4:2:2 and YCbCr 4:2:0 color subsampling.

24p Output: The 24p Output settings allows you to watch movies at their native frame rate 24p format (24 frames per second) when paired with a 24p playback device like a Blu-ray Disc Player.

3D-Ready: The Sony HT-NT3 is compatible with 3D-ready Blu-ray disc movies, video games and other 3D content through its HDMI connection. 3D viewing requires 3D-ready source with 3D content, 3D-ready HDTV, 3D glasses, and high-speed HDMI cable. Other 3D accessories may also be required.

Color Technologies: The Sony HT-NT3 incorporates Triluminos Color, Deep Color, and x.v.Color technologies for perfect color and smooth gradation.

    • Triluminos Color: The Sony soundbar speaker system utilizes Sony's Triluminos Color technology to create a heightened sense of depth and incredibly true, natural shades of colors. Hard-to-reproduce reds, aqua blues and emerald greens are displayed beautifully, so landscapes and seascapes look more vivid. Faces look better too, with natural skin tones.
    • Deep Color: The soundbar speaker system also supports Deep Color which allows the color depth of video signals passing through HDMI to be raised. The number of colors that could be expressed by 1 pixel was 24 bits (16,777,216 colors) with a standard HDMI jack. However, the number of colors which can be expressed by 1 pixel is 36 bits with a Deep Color enabled HDMI jack. Since the gradation of the depth of a color can be expressed more finely with more bits, continuous color changes can be more smoothly expressed.
    • x.v.Color: The Sony soundbar system supports x.v.Color, offering a wider color range than the current broadcast standard. For the x.v.Color feature to be useful, the entire video production chain must be compatible (camera-editing-format-player-display).

Super Bit Mapping (SBM): The HT-NT3 employs Super Bit Mapping to smooth the gradation of video signals output from the system's HDMI out (ARC) jack.

A/V Sync: The audio output can be delayed so that the time gap between the audio output and the visual display is minimized. This is especially helpful when you are using a large LCD or plasma TV or a projection TV. When activated, the delay can be adjusted from 0-300 ms or set to Auto.

Standby Pass-Through: You can conveniently access all your HDMI connected devices without having to power on the HT-NT3 system.

    Network & USB Functions

Wired or Wireless Network Connection: The Sony HT-NT3  features a rear-panel Ethernet (RJ-45) port and built-in WiFi that allow you to connect the system to your home network via a hardwired or wireless connection. By connecting the soundbar speaker system to your home network you are able to stream select online music services from Google Cast and audio files stored on your window-based PC to your home audio system. Miracast Technology: Miracast is a "screen mirroring" function which lets you wirelessly send the display from your compatible Windows 8.1+ or Android 4.2+ device (with support for Miracast) through the soundbar system to your TV. This allows you to view pictures and videos that are playing on your compatible Windows or Android device on your TV screen. No wireless router or access point required.

SongPal Link: With SongPal Link, a feature of Sony's SongPal app for Apple iOS and Android, you can link multiple Sony SongPal Link compatible devices (sold separately) together to create zones, allowing you to stream select online music services from Google Cast Audio and the SongPal app to different rooms throughout your house over your home's WiFi network.

    • High Resolution Formats:  FLAC (44.1-192k; 16/24-bit), AIFF (32-192kHz; 16/24-bit), & DSD (2.8MHz)
    Bluetooth + Remote Control

Built-in Bluetooth: The Sony HT-NT3 soundbar speaker system features built-in Bluetooth (version 3.) for wireless audio streaming and control. The receiver can act as a Bluetooth receiver in order to wirelessly stream music from an audio device, or a Bluetooth transmitter in order to wirelessly stream music to a set of BT-enabled headphones.

    • Receiver Mode: The Sony HT-NT3 incorporates Bluetooth A2DP 1.2/AVRCP 1.5, so you can stream music wirelessly from a BT-enabled device (like your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad), Android smartphone/tablet, Windows Phone/PC, or Mac computer/laptop) to the soundbar speaker system.

      • LDAC Codec Support: In addition to support for Bluetooth standard SBC codec and Apple's AAC codec, the system also supports Sony's newest LDAC codec. LDAC is a new audio technology from Sony that allows you to enjoy high quality wireless audio via Bluetooth. With 3x the data transmitted (compared to regular Bluetooth), LDAC provides an enhanced wireless listening experience for all your music.
    • Transmitter Mode: In Transmitter mode, you can enjoy listening to audio from the soundbar speaker system's DLNA content, online music services from Google Cast Audio and SongPal, as well as connected sources through a set of Bluetooth headphones. The soundbar speaker system is muted when transmitting audio wirelessly over Bluetooth to a set of headphones.
    • SSP + NFC Pairing: The HT-NT3 pairs wirelessly and effortlessly with Bluetooth-enabled devices and headphones (up to 9) with a single press of a button. Bluetooth-enabled devices (like Android 2.3.3 or later) that have Near Field Communication (NFC) are even easier to pair with; simply touch the device to the NFC logo on the receiver and they're paired. NFC Easy Connect app is needed for your Android device, unless you have Android OS 4.1 or later installed. Once paired, the AV receiver will automatically re-connect to your device or headphone when within range (up to 33').
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Sony system.

SongPal Remote App: By downloading Sony's free SongPal remote app (from Apple's App Store or Google Play), you can use your Apple iOS (6.0+) or Android (2.3+) device to control the HT-NT3 system via WiFi. From the SongPal remote app, you can select input sources, switch to other entertainment apps, and customize sound settings of the soundbar speaker system. You'll need to exit this app to stream & control stored music or music apps on your Bluetooth-connected phone.

IR Remote + HDMI Control: The HT-NT3 comes supplied with a full-function IR remote control for wireless operation of the system and HDMI-CEC device. HDMI Control allows you to easily manage and operate an HDMI Control compatible television and other audio/video components with a single remote, when all components are connected via HDMI. By connecting HDMI-CEC components operation is simplified in the following ways -

    • One-Touch-Play: When you playback a component such as a DVD/Blu-ray Disc Player, the receiver and the TV are turned on automatically and switch to the appropriate HDMI input.
    • System Audio Control: While watching TV, you can select to output the sound from the TV speaker or the speakers connected to the receiver.
    • System Power Off: When you turn off the TV, the receiver and connected components are also turned off simultaneously.
Note: With many other soundbar systems, placing the soundbar speaker on your TV stand can be problematic and block the TV's remote control sensor, forcing you to stand up and angle your remote to control your TV. The HT-NT3 soundbar speaker's features an IR repeater pass-through which allows your TV remote control commands to pass-through the front of the soundbar to the TV behind it, eliminating this problem.

On-Screen Display: The HT-NT3 provides an on-screen display through its HDMI output for setup, operation, and song/artist information.

Auto Standby: The soundbar speaker system entering standby mode automatically when you do no operate the system for approximately 20 minutes and the system is not receiving an input signal.
