It is now 10 days that this beautiful t.v has been installed and every day i think it's better. my friends can't get over it. it's fairly easy to learn to use. old black and white movies are simply gorgeous with terrific sharpness and contrast. color movies almost jump out at you. i also bought a blu-ray and receiver and had crutchfield deliver and connect everything. if i have any questions i simply call and get them answered. a great company to deal with.

Superb Picture - Worth the Price!

I researched the LED technology behind the Bravia XBR8 and compared the quality of the picture with the new Samsung LED and high-end Panasonic plasma HDTVs. Although the plasma produces an excellent image as does the Samsung model, the true value of the color spectra produced by the XBR8 cannot be matched by either model. The blackness of dark image areas on the XBR8 is exceptional (no blooming visible) provided you take the time to adjust the various settings. The XBR menu is very intuitive and allows you to adjust each external input. Use the custom selection rather than standard or vivid option and take advantage also of the low energy setting. (Turn off the light sensor). Some have complained about the side speakers but it gives the XBR8 a distinctive look and a sound quality that is better than most. The remote buttons could be laid out better but this is a minor issue. (I was able to easily program it to control my other SONY components and cablebox). I purchased Polk floor speakers, center speaker, and subwoofer plus a SONY receiver and blue-ray player from Crutchfield. The receiver was able to extrapolate my VHS tapes to 720p resolution for a better-than-expected image. I needed to contact SONY support with a setup question which was answered thoroughly. Despite waiting a month for the TV to arrive on backorder, Crutchfield agents were more than helpful and sympathetic.

Sony KDL-55XBR8

It pains me to see the price dropping so quickly after buying this only a few months ago at a much higher price, but that's progress for you.
As for the TV it's awesome. The blacks, the contrast, and picture all add to make me extremely happy with this purchase, irrespective of cost. Blu-Ray, HDTV, PS3...I love it...it's perfect for me. It was worth every cent then, and is now.
This is actually my second unit and is perfect; the first had a defective pixel/LCD which resulted in a single but annoying red dot. Crutchfield was exemplary. They organized, and authorized an exchange/delivery etc painlessly, and without hassle. It made for a very positive experience, as it should be when buying a flagship model. The cross country first class customer service will keep my coming back.

Best TV by far. Wonderful vibrant and accurate colors. Also good on remaining SD progs. Tons of adjustments. You can adjust one input to be the best computer monitor. Highly recommended.

IT ROCKS!

The level of color and the blacks on this TV are fantastic.
I use an online electronics forum for most of my electronic decision making and they gave this TV a rating of "excellent". I also went to stores and reviewed all of the top TV's, having the sales associate let me play with the settings to see what the pictures should really look like in a home setting. I found that because of my lighting from windows I would be better off with the very expensive XBR-55.
This TV ROCKS! The only reason I did not give it a 5 was due to price.
Hey you only live once and you can't take it with you.
I used Crutchfield over 20 years ago and like them now as did back then.
Sorry Crutchfield for taking so long to get back too you.
