Our take on the Sony MDR-A35G

by Steve Kindig

Headphones: Great sound whenever and wherever

The right pair of headphones can solve a number of problems: listen to music and movies at night without keeping your family awake, take your favorite music with you while jogging or doing yard work, or get relief from distracting noise while working or traveling. Replace the cheap eabuds that came with your portable player with a high-quality pair, and discover more detail in your music. Or choose a set of full-sized 'phones for rocking out at home. Noise-canceling models use built-in microphones to pick up background sound and then cancel it out electronically.

These ultra-lightweight, in-the-ear 'phones will keep your head filled with music even during marathon workouts. The low-impedance design, along with Sony's Acoustic Twin Turbo™ circuit, ensures high-energy sound with virtually all portable players. An essential accessory for active lifestyles, these water-resistant headphones stand up to rain, snow and occasional splashing.

Best sports headphones

Written By robert, Vineland NJ on Monday, July 06, 2009
I've tried them all and keep coming back to these inexpensive Sony headphones. Portable, lightweight, affordable, not effected by moisture, great sound, and most importantly, They Do Not Fall Out of Your Ears! I've literally tried ten different pair of sports headphones from $10 to $125 and the Sony wins hands down. There's only one weakness and it's their durability. That's why I always have two pair on hand.

Maybe not the best, but I like the most...

Written By Andrzej, Milwaukee, WI on Tuesday, August 08, 2006
I am paranoid about headphones. I have a whole drawer (I am writing only about portable headphones) with content worth over $1000. On the top end there are headphones that cost $500. But somehow, magically, I am using mostly this Sony product. To the extent that I cannot imagine life without it. Reasons: a) excellent sound reproduction. Full but not overephasised bass, full middle, crisp treble, b) high sensitivity. I don't need "booster" even on train or in the aircraft, c) comfortable and easily adjustable, d) very small footprint after folding, e) not expensive. I don't feel comfortable keeping in my pocket (and eventually loosing) piece of equipment worth $500 bucks, f) don't lock ear canal what leaves some contact with the outside world. Highly recommended.
