MDR-V500

Written By Tony, Ville Platte, Louisiana on Thursday, December 03, 2009

I Had A Pair Of MDR-V600 For A Long Time Till The Plastic Started Cracking. I Got Tired Of Using Super Glue. These Were The Best Headphones I Have Ever Had. {5 To 30,000 Hz.} I Called Crutchfield And Found Out This Item Was Discontinued But Had One Very Close With The Same 40mm drivers And ferrite magnets. {10-25,000 Hz} They Sound Great ! Thanks Crutchfield For Having The MDR-V500 Headphones !

Sony MDR-V500DJ

Written By HANSEN, San Diego, CA on Sunday, September 03, 2006

I have has these headphones for about 6 years and I must say these sound very very good. I have never had to deal with the cracked pieces like I have read in other reviews but the only bad thing I have to say is that on one of the ear cups the rubbery lining that covers the ear cup has rubbed off over time. It's not too big of deal since it took about 5 years for it to happen. Overall I love these headphones, but I must say I am a little sceptical with the cracked peices that I have read in other reviews.

Good sound but bad design.

Written By John, Milwaukee on Thursday, August 11, 2005

The sound quality of these headphones is very good. But the plastic moveable parts holding the earcups are creaky, providing a less than enjoyable experience. In addition, the foam padding covering material seemed to wear out much too quickly.

Great Sound TERRIBLE design

Written By Kevin, USA on Friday, July 29, 2005

These headphones have a great sound. I can't say that enough; however, the design of the headphone is poor. Reason I say this is the pivot point of the ear cups is made of cheap plastic that is prone to cracking and breaking where the cups flip up off your head. I would love to replace the ones I have for a new pair, but it looks like even after 3 years, they haven't improved the design of the pivot point. I'll keep the ones I have until their absolutely unusable because as I said, they sound awesome which is the most important quality.
