All right. It's been a while now since Sony first introduced its revolutionary series of NEX cameras, so it might not come as a surprise anymore just how much they can do despite their slim profile. If you've paid any attention to the buzz in the digital photography world, you know they're good.
But we guarantee that you'll be pleasantly surprised by the evolution that's been taking place in Sony's Alpha NEX-F3. Sony has taken all of the fundamentals everyone loved about the original series: big Exmor APS-C sensors, like those found in most of their DSLRs. 16.1 light-sensitive megapixels. Custom-designed, tack-sharp optics. And they've placed them in a framework that's easier than ever to learn and use.
Let's start with Superior Auto mode. Sony's made the process of getting a great shot as easy as "point and press the shutter," because the camera uses its acclaimed BIONZ™ processor to assess your environment and the actions of your subject to optimize its settings, ensuring that you capture the best possible image. And Auto Portrait Framing uses traditional rules of photography to extract the most artistically rewarding portrait from the close-ups you take. Don't worry, manual options abound for when you're feeling a creative spark, but it's good to know that you can leave the driving to your F3 and enjoy the party while you capture the fun.
Put yourself in the middle of that fun with the 180-degree high-resolution tiltable LCD screen that orients itself perfectly for a quick self-portrait. Tilt it another way to monitor high-angle shots while taking full 1080/60i high-definition video. Control all that power with an intuitive turn-and-click control wheel and context-sensitive soft keys that guide you through the process of getting great photos and video.
Sony's available interchangeable E-series lenses add another dimension to your creative options. While this camera comes with a versatile 18-55mm 3X zoom lens, you can broaden your palette of looks by changing to a different focal length. Plus, with an available adapter, you can use the big family of Sony A-mount lenses as well.
Sophisticated autofocus technology, a built-in flash, and great low-light performance await you as well. And while this camera is proud of its friendliness to beginners, there's certainly plenty here for pros to enjoy as well.
These digital cameras combine the creative options of a DSLR with portability that's more like that of a point-and-shoot. Their automatic modes will help you take striking pictures from day one without having to be an expert. However, like DSLRs, mirrorless cameras have interchangeable lenses, and advanced control and processing. You can explore these features for even better results as you take time to learn more about the hobby. Cameras in this class have large image sensors for beautifully detailed pictures, but their mirrorless design means the camera bodies and matching lenses can be smaller, lighter, and more portable great for snapping memorable pics when you're on the move.
Very impressed with the build and feel of this camera. What you expect from a Sony camera. The UI is a bit clunky but the new automatic modes allow for great quality shooting and easy customization for perfect shots. Great step up from a point and shoot without all the size of a full DSLR.
Pros: Build quality Image quality Display resolution Flash Interchangeable lens Compact size Easy to shoot one handed 180' rotatable screen
Cons: Clunky UI Internal charging via USB cable
I would recommended this camera to anyone. Crutchfield offered the best price with free shipping. At the time they were offering a free memory card with purchase but I didn't receive one. I contacted their customer service and they told me that was an offer only while supplies lasted but they sent me one free of charge. I would definitely use Crutchfield again.
