Features

InfoLITHIUM: This battery exchanges data with compatible Sony digital imaging and video equipment about its power consumption. When used with InfoLITHIUM components, the battery will calculate remaining battery life based on the actual power consumption of the equipment using it. If the battery is used with non InfoLITHIUM components, the remaining battery life will not be indicated.

Compatibility: The NP-FM500H is currently compatible with the Sony Alpha-series digital SLR cameras and select Sony Handycam that supports an M-series InfoLithium battery-pack.

No Memory Effect: This battery has no memory effect, so it may be partially charged without creating memory problems.

Battery Life: The NP-FM500H has an estimated battery life of up to 650 shots on a full charge when used with a Sony Alpha-series digital SLR camera. The NP-FM500H has an estimated life of 150 minutes (2.5 hours) when used with compatible Sony Handycams. The battery life is based on continuous recording at 77° F for Sony camcorders with the LCD screen off and 2.9W power consumption.

Note: These are only approximations and will vary based on actual power consumption of the component being used, manner of usage and temperature.

can't beat sony quality

Written By tiredad, Tulsa, OK on Thursday, June 06, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Aftermarket, third-party batteries are readily available and much cheaper that sony-branded product. However, "your mileage may vary" applies especially well to electronics like camera batteries. Aftermarket batteries we've tried, even those rated to have larger storage capacity, simply don't have the charge life or service life of the factory sony batteries. If they're half the money, but last half as long in service life or run down twice as fast... so did you really save money? We've been tempted by low cost, but the third-party products simply don't last as well for us plus the reality that their use could void a warranty. So, we've gone back to sony batteries in our sony equipment and are happy doing so.
Pros:
factory built, factory recommended, factory performance. no surprises
Cons:
up front cost is higher than third-party product, but safety and reliability are worth something.

A very good battery

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was surprised the battery last quite long. I took about 400 photoes plus about 10 minutes on average movies and the battery still was showing 75%-80% charge left. More then enough for me. The Camera is Sony SLT65V. Quite happy with its performance
Pros:
Last very long, charge time not long at all.
Cons:
none
