About the Sony TDG-PJ1

Sony's lightweight TDG-PJ1 3D active glasses are specially engineered to work beautifully with Sony's IR-based 3D projectors like the VPL-HW40ES and VPL-HW55ES. The matte black interior reduces reflections, and an integrated polarizing filter makes these glasses ideal for viewing projected images. The adjustable frames should provide a comfortable fit for just about everyone in your family. The glasses are powered by a rechargeable battery. Just a quick 3-minute charge provides 3 hours of viewing time, while a full charge will last approximately 30 hours. Warranty: 30 days.

Features

3D Glasses: The Sony TDG-PJ1 active 3D Glasses give you the option to enjoy 3D (three-dimensional) pictures and graphics on your compatible Sony ES 3D-ready front projector. You can enjoy an immersive, realistic movie and gaming experience in Full HD 1080p from your Sony ES 3D-ready projector using the Sony 3D Active Glasses and an HDMI connected 3D source; such as a Satellite Receiver, Blu-ray Disc Player, or PlayStation gaming console (all sold separately).

Optimized For Front Projection: The A matte black interior frame is used to reduce reflections and an integrated polarizing filter make the glasses ideal for front projection viewing. Sony TDG-PJ1 active 3D glasses are compatible with select 2014-up Sony ES 3D-ready front projectors; including the VPL-HW40ES and VPL-HW55ES (both sold separately).

Active Shutter Technology: When using the active shutter glasses, the on-screen image is precisely synchronized and delivered with the full high-definition image intact, for an optimum 3D viewing experience. Sony's 3D technology displays high speed synchronized left- and right-eye images to deliver an amazing 3D experience. And since each frame you see is shown in high-definition, the 3D action still offers razor-sharp detail.

IR Transmission: The 3D glasses operate by receiving infrared signals from the 3D Sync Transmitter of your Sony ES front projector. The 3D Sync Transmitter of your projector must be positioned so that you are facing the transmitter when wearing the 3D glasses.

Rechargeable Battery: The Sony TDG-PJ1 active 3D glasses features a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery capable of 4 hours of use on a full 3 hour charge. A quick 3 minute charge provides approximately 3 hours of use. The built-in rechargeable battery simply charges via USB, using the included cable.

Q
How do I test the battery life without the projector?

A
The Sony TDG-PJ1 active 3D glasses features a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery capable of 4 hours of use on a full 3 hour charge. A quick 3 minute charge provides approximately 3 hours of use. The built-in rechargeable battery simply charges via USB, using the included cable. If you own a pair of glasses without a compatible Sony projector; you can charge them fully, turn them on and manually time how long it takes for the battery to run out in order test that on your own. If you'd like to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Thanks!

Q
Do the glasses work if the projector is mounted on the ceiling and you are sitting under it? I have the Sony 40es

Yes, that is how mine is set up.

I have been disappointed with the performance of the glasses. The 3D effect comes and goes and the glasses are heavy for a young child.
