Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Sony VCT-870RM by Dave Bar Experienced camcorder users know that even when you're shooting with a tripod, the simple act of hitting "Record" or zooming in and out can shake your cam and affect the video quality. That's why folks who are serious about their video often rely on a tripod with remote capability, like Sony's VCT-D870RM. This tripod has a grip handle with a zoom control switch, a video record start/stop button, and a photo button. Now you can control your camcorder's basic functions without even touching it, resulting in steadier, smoother-looking footage. Connection is easy. You don't need to plug the VCT-D870RM into an external power source. Instead, you simply hook up the control cable to a compatible Sony camcorder to perform functions like zooming, starting and stopping your recordings, or even snapping digital pictures with cams that include a photo mode. The VCT-D870RM's sturdy build quality offers a stable mount for your camcorder. It can stand as short as 26 inches, or as tall as 64 inches. And it folds into a compact package for easy transport, making it more than just a stay-at-home tripod.
