Product Research

Features

Overview: The VG-C1EM is a vertical grip, designed for use with Sony Alpha-series a7 (ILCE-7/B and ILCE-7K/B) and a7R (ILCE-7R/B) Full Frame Mirrorless Cameras. The grip fits onto the bottom of the camera and attaches via the camera's tripod thread. When the Vertical Grip is installed, it adds approximately 2" to the overall height of the camera, and nearly 9 ounces to the camera's overall weight (not including batteries).

Dual Battery Compartment: The Vertical Grip's battery compartment can accommodate one or two NP-FW50 InfoLithium rechargeable batteries. Using two batteries doubles the battery life of the camera. The batteries fit into a removable battery tray. The batteries should be charged before they are inserted into the battery compartment, as there is no provision for charging them internally. When using two batteries in the Vertical Grip, the camera's LCD panel will indicate the remaining battery life (as a percentage) for each individual battery. The battery with the lowest remaining power will be used first, before switching to the spare battery.

Note: Installing the Vertical Grip requires removing the camera's battery compartment door. It can be relocated on the inside of the battery grip for safe storage.

Vertical Shooting: When the VG-C1EM is installed, you can rotate the camera 90° to shoot vertical images (portrait orientation). The Vertical Grip has controls that can be used when the camera is in the vertical orientation, including a shutter button, front dial, rear dial, AF-MF/AEL button, and a C1 (Custom 1) button. The operations of the grip's dials and buttons are the same as those on the camera. An On/Off rotary switch lets you turn the controls on and off. The camera's buttons are always active, regardless of the position of the grip's On/Off switch. The camera's power cannot be turned off with any of the grip's buttons.
