Wow!

I was building a home theater into my basement/rec room and wanted a big screen. I was considering a big plasma, but the cost was more than I had budgeted. I had considered a couple of projectors, but wanted to stay away from DLP due to the rainbow-effect. I finally decided to try out this Sony and am completely impressed. With a relatively short throw, I still have a 73" diagonal image. I was concerned about the noise, because the seating is directly under the projector. However, the fan is very quiet and I rarely notice it. The image shift allows for a lot of flexibility in projector placement, without the need for keystone correction. HDTV looks fantastic: images are crisp and black levels are better than I expected. Even regular DVDs look as good as what I see in the theaters - I'm looking forward to getting Blu-Ray soon. Anyone who has seen it usually responds with something like "Wow!".
Ambient light can be an issue, so I would recommend this for a room where you have total control of the lighting. With a 30 day no-hassle return, you can't go wrong trying this one out.

Purchased this unit in time for Superbowl. Projecting it on a 106" 1.4 gain screen in a room with good light control. It has a very cinematic look. HD looks great. It's very quiet too.

Sony Cineza® VPL-HS60
Written By

I have been enjoying the Sony VPL-HS60 for several months. I went with a 110" fixed screen that has a gain of 1.3. I'm very happy with this configuration. The screen gain works well in my room which has a small amount of ambient light. The projector has performed flawlessly since I took it out of the box. Setup was quick and easy. It's very quiet. HD images are very crisp.
