    • Peak Power Output: 55 watts x 4-channels (220 total watts)
Note: The power specifications for the Sony XAV-W650BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

5ch/2V Preouts+ Subwoofer Control: The XAV-W650BT contains five 2-volt RCA preouts; a front channel pair, rear channel pair, and mono-subwoofer channel. The front and rear channel preouts can be faded. The subwoofer preout is non-fading. You can adjust the subwoofer preout's volume level  (-10 to +10) independently from the head unit's volume control. You can also select the phase of the subwoofer output from Normal or Reverse.

    Low-Pass & High-Pass Filter: The unit's subwoofer preout features a low pass filter with a selectable cut-off frequency of 50Hz, 85Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, or Off. The front & rear speaker outputs offer a selectable high-pass crossover frequency of 63Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, or Off.

EQ5: You can select an equalizer curve from eight music types; Country, Soul, Electronica, R&B, Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Dance, Custom, or Off (flat). The Custom EQ5 mode allows you to make your own equalizer settings. You can adjust the level (+/-8dB) of five different frequency bands - 100Hz, 250Hz, 1kHz, 4kHz, & 12.5kHz. .

Mega Bass: The Mega Bass feature reinforces the head unit's bass sound in synchronization with the unit's volume level. Mega Bass can be set to 1, 2, or Off.

Beep Tone: The in-dash head unit provides an audible beep to confirm button operation. This function can be turned On or Off.

    AV Connectivity

Dual AV Inputs: The Sony XAV-W650BT receiver is fitted with two audio/video inputs. The unit features a front-panel 3.5mm AV input on the front panel of the head unit for connecting a temporary external audio/video source, such as a game console. The head unit also features a composite video/stereo audio RCA input on the rear panel for connecting a permanent external AV source, such as a DVD player or mobile ATSC tuner.

Video Output: There is rear-panel composite video output for connecting an external display. The rear-panel composite video output will display whatever video source is being played on the DVD receiver. You can select an aspect ratio suitable for your connected monitor. You can choose from 16:9, 4:3 Letter-Box, or 4:3 Pan&Scan.

Rear View Camera Input: The Sony XAV-W650BT is equipped with a composite video Rear View Camera input to connect a backup camera (sold separately). By connecting a rear view camera, you can use the in-dash receiver's touchscreen LCD to see what's behind you when backing up.

    • Parking Guide Lines: When a rear-view camera is connected and you are viewing a rear view image, parking guide lines appear on-screen making parking easy and safer. There are three color-coded horizontal guidelines and two vertical guidelines.
    • Auto-Switching: When your vehicle's shift lever is in the reverse position, the screen automatically switches to the rear view camera; the purple/white wire of the included harness must be connected to the vehicle's reverse lamp circuit for automatic video switching. Automatic video switching takes approximately 2.5 seconds. You can also manually select the rear view camera input.
    • Reverse or Mirror Image: You can even choose a normal or reverse image.
Note: The rear view camera feature is meant as a back-up aid only; never solely rely on the rear-view camera when backing-up. In addition to using the rear-view camera, always look behind you to make sure everything is clear when backing up your vehicle.

How is the navigation while using a thumb drive to play music? Does is display files the way they are sorted on the drive? Or does it sort the whole drive by artist/album/etc?
    joe  Feb 16, 2017
    1 answer
    A
I was disappointed with how it sorts. I have a file system setup where my music is sorted in folders by genre, then artist, then album. What I found when plugging in my usb drive was that it doesn't recognize the folder structure and only sorts by the album folders (lowest folders). Hope that helps.

Hi you need to purchase a Back-up Camera for this unit. Installation on my Volvo was very easy the cable that comes with the camera needs to be connected to one of your back-up light wires. Then the wires needs to go to teh Sony received in your dash. I easily routed the wire under my rear seat and carpeting to the receiver. The received has a Camera Connector socket that fits the back-up camera cable connector, When you put your car in reverse the voltage that is applied to your backup light also is used as the signal to turn on the camera and switch the receiver screen to show what the camera is seeing. So yes its automatic when you place the vehicle into reverse.

I personally never set up pandora on the device itself, but I did play it via bluetooth from my phone. At that point everything is controlled from the head unit. Also, I listen to my ipod in the vehicle and it is plugged in, also controlled by the head unit. I am very pleased with this stereo!

    Q
Warning, clock, and buttons customization. Does this have a "warning" spalsh screen when you first turn on the vehicle? I saw a couple complaint reviews saying it has to be manually ok'd every single time and no way to turn it off... but when I contacted Sony they said no splash. Also, when the radio is off, does it have a clock to display? The Kenwood only does when it's on or in standby with other things around it. I like a nice clean look. Are the options on the homescreen for which buttons show up customizable or changeable? I know most other brands are, don't see it in this one. Thanks!
    john  Jun 24, 2016
    5 answers
    A
Yes, it has a warning splash. You have to hit "Ok" before it will function. When the radio is "Off", it's a blank screen. When the radio is in "Standby" mode, it has a small clock display in the upper right corner. Buttons: I have not found any way to customize/change any of the display buttons. The only thing I could change was the colors of the background graphics. I have pictures but can't post them in this respose.
    michael  Jun 28, 2016
    A
Yes you have to acknowledge warning at beginning of operation. There is a small clock in right corner when off. It's minimally customizable but still a great unit.
    richard  Jun 26, 2016
    A
It does have a splash when the car is turned on to 'acc', warning you not to use the system while driving, blah, blah, blah, but is doesn't require acknowledgement before is goes away on it's own. Typically when the car is started. It also goes to it's home screen when the ignition is turned on, and it does have a clock when on.
    robert  Jun 25, 2016
    A
The radio does have a splash screen however it for me it comes up intermittently. I have not found it to have a sleep because whenever My truck is on I'm using the unit. A clock is in the upper right corner while using it
    garrett  Jun 24, 2016
    A
With my installation, I only get the warning when I turn the key to accessory position. If I go directly to ignition and start the car, I get no warning. There is no click display when the screen is off. The buttons are not customizable.

2007 350z with bose and do i need the scosche slc4 line output from the addon package if either 1) im just replacing the head unit, or 2) im replacing all the speakers and using a 4 or 5 channel amp?
    richard  Jun 22, 2016
    1 answer
    A
The Scosche SLC4 would only be used for installation in your Nissan if you wanted to retain the factory Bose amplifier and if you selected a head unit without front and rear preamp outputs--the Sony XAV-W650BT has 5-channel (front, rear, sub) preamp outputs and it sounds like you're not using the factory Bose amp, so that wouldn't be needed in your installation. Does this radio and back up camera come with vehicle specific wiring instructions for finding e brake wires and reverse lamp wires?
    richard  Feb 19, 2016

I can answer for the BOYO camera. The camera insturctions were vague as to where power was supposed to go. In the end I soldered the black and red power lines to the black and red lines on the radio harness that went with my navigation unit. I used the reverse line that went with my navigation unit and soldered it to the break light line at the fuse box under my drive side kick panel at the front of the car. I had to look up where that fuse was online. It was not included in any of the instructions that came with the navigation unit or back up camera. Once I knew where it was it was easy to hook up but it took me a bit to find that information. Love the camera though.

Richard: I just installed XAV W650BT and very happy with the unit. Did not hook up the handbrake (I have no use watching the DVD) nor reverse camera. My recommendation is to seek any YouTube videos specific to your car or contact Crutchfield technical service. Either method will provide you with the information you need. I highly recommend this unit at the price point.

I have the iPhone 6 and setup this unit a couple weeks ago; and have had no issues. I also would add all (4) members of my family have iPhone 6 and both my kids are a couple updates behind as one of their favorite apps isn't as favorable with the newer updates etc... So in our case we have had great luck with different iOS versions. I currently have iOS 9.2.1 - not to mention my factory head unit was decent considering the premium factory BOSE SPEAKERS and AMP setup; but admit my Chevrolet Avalanche is sounds amazing. I also added the PAC RP5-GM11 so I could keep Onstar / Steering Wheel Controls etc. & METRA Dash-Kit made the install flawless and total time less than 30 minutes. It was a excellent purchase, no regrets...
