Decoder: The Sony XAV-W1 features six preamp outputs - stereo Front,
stereo Rear, mono Center and mono Subwoofer. Along with its built-in 5.1
surround sound decoder, this allows the unit to support Dolby Digital/DTS

the sound output from each speaker to suit your position and simulate a
natural sound field with the feeling of being in the center of it where you
sit in your vehicle. You can choose from the following Listening Position
modes - Front left, Front right, Front center, All or Custom. The Custom
Listening Position mode allows you to precisely calibrate your listening
position from each speaker so that the sound delay reaches the listener more
correctly. The distance from each speaker to your custom listening position
is adjustable in 2 cm steps from 0 to 400 cm.

Input and Output Notes
Video Lock Out:
The video signal is locked out to prevent the viewing of a video source on the
XAV-W1's monitor while the vehicle is in motion. You will need to tap into the
vehicle's parking brake light circuit, splicing in the unit's light green wire
from the main power/speaker harness. Once connected, the video signal will only
be visible on the unit's monitor when the parking brake is applied.
A/V Inputs: The XAV-W1
has three Audio/Video auxiliary inputs with stereo RCA audio and composite video
jacks for use with a VCR or video game console. The three Audio/Video inputs can
be used for audio/video sources or audio-only sources. A fourth Aux input is a video only RCA jack, which can be used for a rear view camera.
Note: The
third A/V input shares its stereo RCA audio jacks with the unit's UniLink
bus-connector. You can use these audio inputs for either the third A/V input
or along with the UniLink bus-connector but not both together.
Rear View Camera:
When the vehicle is put into reverse gear, the monitor will automatically switch
to the video from the optional rear view camera. In order for the video to
automatically switch, the purple/white wire in the A/V input harness
needs to be spliced into the vehicle's back-up lamp circuit.
Rear Monitor Output:
The XAV-W1 features an output that allows you to feed audio and video signal
to a rear monitor. With the unit's Zone x Zone feature, you can watch a DVD on
the rear monitor while the front passengers enjoy the radio (AM, FM, or optional XM) or an auxiliary source.
UniLink Port: The
XAV-W1 is equipped with Sony's proprietary UniLink bus-connector for connection
of Sony compatible CD-changers, XM Radio Tuners, HD Radio Tuners and iPod
interfaces.
Optional Auxiliary
Input: In addition to the A/V inputs, you can connect another auxiliary
audio device (such as a portable digital memory player, cassette or MiniDisc
when used with the optional XA-300 UniLink Auxiliary Input Adapter (item number
158XA300). The XA-300 uses the UniLink and Bus Audio inputs on the back of the
receiver, and allows you to connect an optional CD/MD changer in addition to the
auxiliary audio source.
MIC Input: The
XAV-W1 features a 3.5mm microphone input attached to a 36" cord on the rear
chassis of the unit for use with an optional microphone.
6-Channel Preamp Output: The Sony XAV-W1 features stereo Front and Rear preamp outputs as
well as mono Center-Channel and Subwoofer outputs. The Front and Rear
channels can be balanced and faded from -10 to +10 while the volume of the
Center-Channel and Subwoofer outputs can be adjusted independently from -6 to
+6.
Remote Input: The unit has a 3.5mm mini-jack input
on the rear chassis for the optional Sony RM-X4S wired rotary commander. In
