Bored with your vehicle's sound system? Sony's XM-N1004 4-channel amplifier will add clarity and power to your system, delivering 70 watts RMS to each of your speakers, so you'll have more fun listening to music on the road. To add some low-frequency fun, you can bridge the MX-N1004 amp into 2-channel mode and drive a couple of subwoofers with 175 watts each.

High- and low-pass filters help all your speakers sound their best. Sony placed all of the MX-N1004's connections and controls on the front of the amp, for a cleaner installation with easier access to adjustments. To protect the amp from overheating and shutting down, an Auto Thermal Control lowers the power output slightly during those moments of extreme, hard driving play. Sony shows its commitment to high quality by gold-plating this amp's connectors for reliable conductivity.

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare amplifiers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Sony XM-N1004 is rated at 70 watts RMS x 4 channels, with a 93 dBA signal to noise ratio.

Pulse Power Supply: The amplifier utilizes a Pulse Power Supply system to regulate the fluctuating voltage received from the car's electrical system.

Crossover: The front and rear amps have independent crossovers:

  • Front: a three position switch sets crossover to low pass, off (full range), or high pass; the crossover point is fixed at 80 Hz and the slope is 18 dB/octave when set to low pass, 12 dB/octave when set to high pass
  • Rear: a two position switch turns the low pass filter (LPF) on/off; the crossover point is fixed at 80 Hz and the slope is 18 dB/octave

Power Connections: The power, ground, and remote turn-on screw terminals are 0.35" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. A protective cover is included for the power/ground/remote terminal block.

Speaker Connections: The speaker screw terminals are 0.35" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not included) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

RCA Input: The amplifier has two pair of stereo RCA line level inputs (front left/right and rear left/right).

Fuse: The amp is protected by two 25-amp ATO blade fuses.

Q
Hi, i want to connect this amplifer with power supply for external use, can you tell me the ampere required by this amplifer??

Thanks for your question. The voltage is listed as 14.4v. If you are running the amp at 2 ohms the amps would be 7.2. If running at 4 ohms the amps would be 3.6. If you have further questions I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They should be able to help answer your question.

Hi Dale, Yes, this amp will power your speakers. However, it does not offer much as far as adjustability when comes to fine tuning. I upgraded to Rockford Fosgate for my system.

Hi Dale I have a set of 4 component Infinity knapper's door speakers which r 80 rms and my radio has a 50 W power amp built in between them both the speakers sound very nice. This amp will do fine for u in my opinion.

Q
I bought the Sony XM-N10004 amp along with a set of subs. It came as a package. How do I hook up my RCA cables and the speaker wires to the subs to get 175 watts for 2 channels? My head unit comes with 3 sets of preamp outputs with 1 dedicated to subs.
