Maxell's CD-R Music discs use a high-sensitivity recording layer for optimum performance and compatibility with a wide range of playback devices. And a revolutionary protective coating on each disc safegards your recordings against the wear and tear of everyday use.

These Maxell CD-R Music discs can be recorded once and will play back in most recent home, car, portable, and PC-based CD players, as well as some DVD players.

The best CD-R out there for recording music from my CD recorders. I like them also because they have lines to write info and titles etc. The only one out there who does this.

Maxell Music CD-R

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you need to record music on a CD recorder, such as the Sony RCD W500C, you have to have music recordable CD's. Regular data CD's will not work. I've tried many different brands of music recordable CD's and have found Maxell to be the most reliable. With other brands, I have about a 20% error rate. With the Maxell discs, it's less than 1%. They also work in your computer disc drive like any data recordable disc. I highly recommend them.

Pros: Virtually error free, great sound quality

Cons: More pricey than regular data discs, but that's to be expected with CD recorders.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't expect a lot here: record faithfully and don't jam up. And the Maxell's do what I need, at least so far, as well as the Sony music CD's that I had previously. I have had some durability problems with the Sony's, so I am eager to see how these hold up in a difficult environment: the pocket on my car door. We will see.

Pros: Works as expected.

Cons: None

Maxell CD-R, 80 min

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was looking for CD-R that would record in JVC model #XL-R500, late 1980's model. So far The Maxell's are the only ones I have found that work. The only down side is that out of the 30 count, 5 did not work. This is why I only gave them 4 stars. I will purchase more unless I find another brand that works. Apparently most of the current brands have a different format which is not compatible with this older JVC unit.

I use these CD-R CDs in an analog CD recorder for my student's music lessons. I've had a hard time finding these digital audio CDs in quantity at a good price. These work great, very few duds on a spindle. Service is great and very quick delivery. Thank you!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have two stereo CD burners, Maxwell CD-R's are the only ones that I have found to work. Two local discount stores both did carry them but the one nearest me closed. The other one discontinued carrying them. Crutchfield is the only company that I could find them at a reasonable price, Thank You.

Pros: They will also burn using your computer

Cons: Hard to find in stores

1 question already asked

CDR disc is for use with a CD recorder - it is for music not data. I am very happy with these discs - no problems in 13 years of using Maxell CD-R discs. [ Clark  Aug 01, 2015 ]
I have a stand alone Hi fi cdr burner and the only discs that work are ones that have to say on them Compact Disc digital audio Recordable thus data cdr's do not work. [ DAVID B  Aug 01, 2015 ]
I don't know, I've never heard of Maxdata cd-r's. I do get good results with Maxell cd-r's. CSB [ Carlton  Jul 30, 2015 ]
the maxell cd-r music disc will play in all the machines while the data will mainly play in just the computers . most of the older cd players cannot read the data discs . [ JOEL  Jul 29, 2015 ]
Maxell cd-r is used for audio recording using a dedicated home audio recorder eg: sony rcd-w500c. Max data cd-r is for computer recording. [ DAVID  Jul 28, 2015 ]
I don't think I have ever used the Maxdata disc. I just love the CD-R Disc for music. Jim [ JAMES H  Jul 28, 2015 ]
The Maxdata CD-R disks are strictly data disks for use on a computer type device. While these CD's can be used to download audio files to from a computer they cannot work on some recordable CD devices. The Maxell CD-R Disk is a audio CD to be used on voice recording devices. These are specifically for capturing audio recordings like singing and are used on recordable cd devices. [ HENRY  Jul 28, 2015 ]
Maxadata cd-r disc is for use on a computer specifically for data like documents, letters, spread sheets. Maxell CD-R disc is specifically for music and to "burn" music onto a CD disc when that music is stored on your hard drive from downloads. For instance, you could download MP-3's from iTUNES and then burn them onto a disc to listen to at home on a CD player, or in your car. [ DAVID  Jul 28, 2015 ]
I don't know anything about "Maxdata", but I have used the Maxell cd-r over the years and I trust these discs to archive music that I intend to keep. [ Jeff  Jul 28, 2015 ]
