This indispensable tool strips wire (12- to 22-gauge) with one pull of the trigger and features a pistol-type grip and a narrow nose for working comfortably in even tight spaces. You can adjust a strip-length guide to measure and strip off the exact amount of insulation you want.
You can even use this tool to splice into a wire without cutting it. The stripper adjusts automatically to solid or stranded wire. A second blade cuts your wire cleanly. The grip locks closed for safe storage. Warranty: lifetime.
Excellent tool to strip and cut wires. Had a little difficulty stripping monster speaker wire until the red plastic safety was removed. Once the safety was gone the tool performed as it should without and hiccups.
Pros: Simple and easy to use.
Cons: Although the safety provides measurements to not over-strip the wires. It could prove cumbersome when dealing with skinnier wire like the monster speaker wires.
It does exactly what it says. I got clean cuts and strips every time I used it. Made the wiring process much faster.
Did a poor job stripping the wire. Left much of the outer shell on. The guard that measures the length you are stripping stops at 1/2 inch so limited in value. It also pops out easily, which is fine if not using it but a pain if you are. For equal or less money you can get a much more versatile, durable non-plastic wire stripper from the hardware store.
Cons: Cheap construction Limited use and effectiveness
Works like a charm!
Boy this tool makes stripping easy. Glad I spent the $10. Will use for other things too, but was worth it just for this.
Pros: Works great. Low cost.
Cons: Not heavy duty, but fine for personal use.
I have needed one of these for years. Made stripping the wires a breeze.
Was my first time purchasing a wire stripper for the purpose of setting up my Marantz M-CR610. They worked really well and made it a hassle free experience!
Pros: Does the job well.
Cons: Have to grip hard sometimes otherwise it fails to remove plastic coating immediately above the bare wire.
Cheap product but generally worked as intended. At least for me I found it best to take my time with this tool and when I did worked flawlessly. When I tried to rush using it........on second thought lets not talk about the outcome of me rushing using it:)
Pros: As already mentioned.
Cons: As already mentioned.
Worked good for a minute....
Pros: It was nice
Cons: It's broken.
It's very useful and saves time
Pros: Cheap, versatile, quick
Cons: Hmm, made of plastic maybe?
great product; awesome sound
I had bought some monster speaker cable and thought I had the right tools to cut the cable. I was wrong. I decided to purchase this wire cutter/stripper tool and it made cutting the speaker cable so much easier and less time consuming. Don't frustrate yourself. This stripper tool will be a relief for you.
Pros: Strips the outer covering of the wire with ease and doesn't cut into the wire.
Cons: The wire cutter doesn't seem to cut bigger wire very well. But it does it's job.
This thing works like a charm, which I guess is all someone could ask, but it just feels kind of light weight and cheap. It is worth the price, that's for sure. I would happily pay more for one that was better made though.
Pros: Works great, worth the price
Cons: Feels kind of cheap
Love these wire strippers! Strips the wire nicely...makes soldiering easier
This tool failed to cut all the way thru the insulation on the Audioquest cable.
Pros: none, very dissappointed.
Cons: cheap tool at a high price
Surprised me right out of the package. Easiest stripper I've ever used
Pros: Ease of use, speed of strip
This is easily worth the money, especially if you are new at installing wiring yourself. I had never installed a car stereo and was afraid of doing it myself but with this tool I was easily able to strip all wires and connect everything I needed.
Pros: easy and quick
Product works great, I'm glad I picked this up with my order. I would have been in a much more painful place if I had not gotten this little blessing.
Pros: Cuts wore perfectly
Cons: Non as of yet
Works great, the back gauge (little red plastic thingy) that is used to set strip length could stand to be a little more robust. Other than that this is an extremely useful, time saving tool.
Pros: Price. Multi-Function.
Cons: flimsy back gauge
Great tool for the job. Makes wire stripping easy and consistent. Keeps strands intact none get cut as with traditional strippers.
Pros: Works as I should
Cons: Feels cheap but does the job.
Works great as described!
Pros: Ability to access tight areas in car dash to strip existing manufacturer loom ends (front versus side-stripping).
Works as it should. Made the job easy.
Got this to try out a new wire cutter/stripper for new speaker and head unit install. Definitely easy to use and worked fine for cutting and stripping wire, of any size I was using, to length needed. Only issue I had was the red, length adjustment piece would not stay where I set it to.
Pros: Quick and easy cutting and stripping of wires. Nice grip type setup was easy to hold and use.
Cons: Red, length adjuster piece was difficult to adjust and would not always stay in place.
Worked great. Way better than using traditional wire cutters
Before I installed my head unit in my 2007 Xterra, I had no experience whatsoever with any kind of electrical/mechanical activities. This product is easy as anything to use, and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants an easy and cheap way to marry wires together. I used this stripper/cutter in conjunction with some Posi-Products connectors, and they work excellently together.
Pros: Easy to learn to use, sharp blades
Cons: Not very ergonomic, but that doesn't matter much
Does what it's supposed to do. This isn't a tool for stripping 8 gauge wiring, but for smaller 12 and smaller I found this to save a lot of time and an extra hand.
Pros: Consistent, one-handed stripping of smaller gauge wiring. Cuts perfect length for soldering or crimp on connectors.
Cons: Feels a little flimsy being plastic construction, but better that and be non-conductive.
Great tool, made my install much easier. I like how you can set the depth you strip too. The cutter part was by the handle and less useful in tight spaces.
Pros: Great strippers.
Cons: Not the best clippers.
This item made my work really easy. I bought the S&G Wire Cutter/Stripper Tool to help with my audio system upgrade and my work was so simplified. There is a wire cutter at the bottom that i almost forgot to use that worked really well.
Pros: easy to use.
Cons: none so far.
Fast and easy
Pros: Fast and easy everyone should own one
Cons: Made in China
Purchased the S & G Wire Cutter/Stripper Tool along with AudioQuest X2 Speaker Cable (14 gauge). The S & G Wire Cutter/Stripper Tool could not strip or cut this speaker cable. Plastic nature of tool made it feel like it was going to break with every try. After a few attempts resorted to a real wire cutter/stripper tool from my tool box. Maybe it works on small thin wire, but I would not purchase this product based upon my experience..
Cons: Would not perform its function on AudioQuest X2 Speaker Cable (14 gauge).
Very easy to use, gets the job done. Construction feelz a lil flimsy but it survived a couple drops. Great product, yu get wat yu pay for n I'm super happy I bought it.
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: Flimsy construction
Made my life so much easier. Worth the $$.
Pros: Easy to use.
I bought this tool to simplify my installation of a powered sub. The installation was a snap, and this tool did the trick. Regardless of the wire thickness or gauge, this tool stripped it in one shot. Using the length indicator, I was able to get the exposed wire length right every time. Highly recommended!
Pros: Ease of use, versatility
Great for during small electrical jobs
Pros: Ease of use
Years ago a hack installer left a pair of these in my car when he "attempted" to install a new head unit. Since he failed miserable AND tried to charge me for his time, I kept the strippers (and did the install myself). Since then and through countless stereos and three complete custom wiring harnesses, I have never used another stripper. Put the wire in, squeeze the handle and *SNAP*, done.
Pros: Fool-proof, fast, consistent and reliable.
Cons: So good, people will steal them.
I've used this stripper for years. I'm on my second one. It comes in handy for me. It is all plastic except the blades. It isn't meant to be used with double insulated wire, however I found that if I squeeze the tool just enough to bite the wire and give it a few back and forth twists then finish squeezing to strip the wire, it works just fine. A small shot of WD now and then helps keep it working like new. Something I didn't figure out with my first one.
Pros: All plastic except for blades, (less shock hazard). Small size.
Cons: Have to work it to strip through the outer plastic coating on some wires.
This is the worst wire stripper I have ever used. I tried to strip #12 wire with clear coating and it dident even strip the coating off.
Recessed Wire Stripper: This wire stripper is designed for recessed areas.
Wire gauge: Cuts and strips single- or multiple-stranded conductor copper wire from 12-22 gauge.
Note: Not designed to strip Teflon or similar insulations.
Auto Adjust: The stripper automatically adjusts to wire size. It will strip single- or multiple-conductor copper wire.
Measure: Use the scale (5/16" to 1/2") along the side of the stripping mechanism to measure how much wire you want to strip.
Cutter: The wire cutter is below the stripper.
Lock: The locking mechanism keeps the wire stripper in a closed, compact position for storage.
