    Features

Overview: Shure Centraverse Installed Sound Microphones are designed to deliver high quality audio for meeting rooms and houses of worship. This CVO Overhead microphone suspends from the ceiling to provide discreet sound reinforcement for choirs and other ensembles. At the end of its 25' cable is a preamplifier with an XLR connector. The CVO comes with a wire aiming hanger and a snap-fit foam windscreen.

Pickup Pattern: The CVO has a cardioid polar pattern, with a tailored response designed for clear reproduction of speech and vocals.

Phantom Power: Condenser microphones require phantom power to operate. A 48-volts DC power supply is recommended for the CVO, however, it can operate with lower voltages. Phantom power is usually provided by most mixers or audio interfaces where the microphone will be connected.

Commshield: All Centraverse series microphones are equipped with Commshield RF Filtering technology, which guards against unwanted RF interference from portable wireless devices, such as smartphones.

Mounting: The Shure CVO is a low-profile microphone that is designed to be suspended from the ceiling, in front of, and above the heads of, the performers. The microphones should be aimed at the back row of performers. The included wire hanger lets you direct the microphone in the direction of the sound source.

3:1 Rule: If you are using more than one Shure Centraverse CVO overhead microphones, the distance between the mics should be three times greater than the distance between the microphone and the sound source. In other words, if the microphones are placed 2-3 feet from the performers, the microphones should be 6-9 feet apart from each other.

Connector: The preamplifier has a male XLR connector for plugging the microphone into the mixer or audio console.

    Q
I am interested in using this with an Android tablet. Does this need any kind of adapter? Is this possible?

Thank you for your question. I have found the Shure CentraverseT CVO to be very effective in capturing voices around a table where the microphone is suspended from the ceiling over the table. To connect with a tablet, you will need an adaptor. The plug from the microphone is a male XLR connector, so you'll need to get from this fitting to the microphone input on your tablet. Also, the microphone is a condenser type, so you'll need to supply it with phantom power. Your tablet might be able to do this, or you may need an adaptor that also provides this function.
