What you want

The Shure GLXD14/WL185 is a member of Shure's GLX-D family of digital wireless systems, designed to set you free onstage. It includes the WL185 lavalier condenser microphone, the GLXD1 bodypack transmitter, and the GLXD4 wireless receiver.

I hear you

The system offers up to 16 hours of operation on the transmitter's rechargable lithium-ion battery.  The typical indoor range is up to 100 feet, with a maximum of 200 feet under ideal conditions; its outdoor range is up to 65 feet, 165 feet under ideal conditions. The GLXD1 transmitter automatically links to the receiver for seamless operation. LinkFreq Automatic Frequency Management makes it simple – just turn on your receiver and transmitter, and they'll automatically pair up on the best available frequency. If you encounter unexpected interference, the system instantly switches to the next best open frequency, with no interruption.

You can run up to 8 systems on a single stage in ideal conditions, up to 4 systems in most situations. The GLXD1 transmitters uses rechargable lithium-ion batteries, and the GLXD4 receiver features an onboard battery charging port that allows you to charge a spare battery while the system is in use. And there's no more guessing if you'll make it through a show – the GLXD4's display gives you a real time countdown on how much battery life is left in your transmitter.

What you said

Overview: The Shure GLXD14/WL185 Lavalier Wireless Microphone System consists of the GLXD4 Wireless Receiver, the WL185 Lavalier Condenser Microphone, and a GLXD1 bodypack transmitter. GLX-D Digital Wireless Systems have a typical operating range of up to 100 feet indoors or 65 feet outdoors, with a maximum range in ideal conditions of 200 feet indoors and 165 feet outdoors. In a typical setting, you can simultaneously operate up to 4 compatible systems, and up to 8 under ideal conditions. This receiver works on the Z2 frequency band.

LINKFREQ: The GLX-D Digital Wireless systems feature LINKFREQ Automatic Frequency Management. When the system is powered up, the receiver continuously analyzes the available frequencies. The receiver and transmitter automatically link using the best set of available frequencies. In the event of interference, the receiver and transmitter intelligently move together to another open frequency without any interruption of audio.

GLXD4: The GLXD4 Wireless Receiver operates within the 2.4 GHz ISM spectrum, and automatically links to the GLXD1 bodypack or GLXD2 handheld transmitters. The receiver has an XLR microphone output and a 1/4" instrument output, and is powered by the supplied 14-to-18-volt DC power supply. The GLXD4 has a built-in charging port for the SB902 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery used by the GLXD1 and GLXD2 transmitters. The GLXD4's LCD screen keeps provides a constant indication of the system's status. It displays the selected group and channel numbers, an audio meter with overload indicator, and the transmitter gain. It also provides an accurate indication of the remaining transmitter battery life. The GLXD4 is equipped with two, non-removable 1/2-wave sleeve dipole antennas.

GLXD1: The Shure GLXD1 Bodypack transmitter features a sophisticated design with a rugged metal construction. It has a single 4-pin TA4M mini connector for plugging in a lavalier, headset, or instrument microphone, or a guitar cable. The transmitter also has Micro USB battery charging port. To save battery life, the transmitter automatically powers off after approximately 1 hour if it is no longer linked to a receiver.

SB902 Battery: The GLXD1 and GLXD2 transmitters are powered by a single Shure SB902 Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. The battery's advanced chemistry produces zero memory effects, eliminating the need to discharge the battery prior to charging. A fully-charged battery which provides approximately 16 hours of continuous battery life. The battery can be charged inside the transmitter when connected to an AC power source or USB connection, or charged in the GLXD4 receiver's built-in charging bay. The approximate battery charging and transmitter runtimes are as follows:

Receiver Bay or
AC Power Source
USB Charging Transmitter Runtime
15 minutes 30 minutes up to 1.5 hours
30 minutes 1 hour up to 3 hours
1 hour 2 hours up to 6 hours
3 hours 4 hours up to 16 hours

WL185: The WL185 condenser microphone is for general purpose sound reinforcement applications. The WL185 has a 130° cardioid polar pattern, and comes with a snap-fit windscreen that provides 30dB of pop protection, and a tie clip that can be rotated in 90° intervals for placement flexibility. CommShield Technology eliminates RF interference from cell phones and digital bodypack transmitters. The 48" cable terminates into a 4-pin Mini TA4F connector. The WL185 includes a durable padded zipper case.
