Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the Wood Technology SC-1 by Julie Govan Wood Technology's innovative sound chambers reduce distortion and blurriness, so you can enjoy great sound from in-wall or in-ceiling speakers. Here's how they work: these acoustical foam inserts fit behind and around 5", 6" or 8" speakers, to provide maximum absorbency of the speaker's back-wave. (Without that absorption your sound can prove muddy and disappointing.) V-shaped grooves in the foam let low frequencies through, so the entire wall is used to produce deep bass. Basically, you're maximizing your speaker's capabilities, and minimizing the drawbacks of regular in-wall installation. The SC-1 sound chambers are designed to make installation easy. With new-construction installs, just position each chamber between two studs. Putting speakers in existing walls? No problem. Each chamber splits into four pieces, so it can fit easily through a speaker cutout. Use one chamber per speaker. When used with 2x4 studwalls, no additional hardware is required to keep the chambers in place. This kind of insulation even helps prevent extraneous sound from filtering into other rooms through the wall! Plus, the SC-1s are fire-resistant. Details: each sound chamber splits into quarters of 7-1/2"W x 11-3/4"H x 3-3/4"D fully assembled chamber is 15"W x 23-1/2"H x 3-3/4"D warranty: 1 year Includes a pair of chambers Hands-on research from the Crutchfield Labs (what are the Labs?) Features Overview: Sound Chamber is a custom formulated acoustical foam designed and shaped for all 5", 6" and 8" in-wall or ceiling speakers. Its "open cell" design provides maximum absorbency. The "V" shaped grooves (patent pending) allow low frequencies (below 100Hz) to escape, utilizing the entire wall for producing deep bass. In addition, Sound Chamber is fire resistant and an excellent insulator. Installation: The "V" grooves and sidewalls are thick enough so they will support the Sound Chamber in place (2x4 stud walls) with no additional hardware. Since each Sound Chamber is divided into four modules, it will fit through the speaker cutout in an existing wall. With new-construction installs, just position each chamber between two studs. Dimensions: Sound Chamber: W=15", H=23.5", D=3.75" Individual Foam Module: W=7.5", H=11.75", D=3.75" Product Reviews Be the first to review this product.
