Custom rear-wave enclosure for better sound in a smaller space
The CM4PR looks a bit different than your average in-ceiling speaker, and with good reason. The chamber at the back of the speaker helps to reproduce a wider frequency range while also limiting the amount of sound that leaks into adjacent spaces. That makes this speaker an excellent choice for small rooms and spaces where you otherwise might not be able to install an in-ceiling speaker. But even if you're not limited by space, the CM4PR is a great performer.
Amazing sound, aesthetics and ease of installation
The CM4PR's rigid polymer cone delivers clarity and bass response that will surprise you from a speaker this size. Its 1" fluid-cooled Teteron® dome tweeter offers great dispersion so you can hear your music in a wide area. Plus the CM4PR is tight-space friendly, needing less than a 5" cutout and just over 3-1/4" of depth behind your drywall. Tri-mount clips make for an easy, secure installation particularly when your mounting surface is uneven. Top it off with the included magnetic snap on grille and you're good to go. Features
In-Ceiling Speaker: The Niles Audio CM4PR Ceiling Mount speaker is designed for rooms with limited space. The rear wave control enclosure keeps sound from transferring to adjacent rooms. It comes with a magnetically-attached paintable metal grille.
Drivers: The CM4PR has a rigid 3-1/2" mineral-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a butyl rubber surround to damp resonance and long life. The 1" fluid-cooled Teteron dome tweeter provides smooth highs and a wide dispersion pattern.
Enclosure: The speaker is mounted into a custom Rear Wave Enclosure to enhance bass response, and to keep sound in the intended area. The enclosure measures 9.5"L x 5.047"W x 4"H.
Grille: The CM4PR includes a 5-1/2" diameter MicroThin grille, which attaches magnetically to the speaker. The 1/4" thick grille is easy to install, and blends with the room's aesthetics. It is rust-resistant, and paintable to match any décor.
Weather-Resistant: The enclosure, speaker, and grille are weather-resistant, so you can install the speaker in moist environments, including bathrooms and outdoors under eaves.
Speaker Terminals: The CM4PR is equipped with spring-loaded post terminals on the end of the enclosure. The terminals can accept up to 12-gauge speaker wire. For wire runs of less than 80 feet, 16-gauge wire is recommended. You should use 14-gauge wire for runs of 80-200 feet, and 12-gauge wire for runs over 200 feet.
Installation: Installing the speaker requires a 4-5/8" cutout. The enclosure fits easily through the mounting hole and only requires a depth of 3-5/16" behind standard 5/8" drywall. The Tri-mount clips firmly hold the speaker in place.

Out of the box the bass is actually quite reasonable for such a small driver. The treble sounds a bit dull. I'm hoping it improves with break-in over the next 48-72 hours of use.
