An in-ceiling speaker from the custom-install experts
With over 34 years in business, Niles Audio has made a name for themselves helping people enjoy music throughout their homes. That experience and dedication has led to in-ceiling speakers like the CM7MP — speakers that deliver clear, musical detail with minimal visual impact on your room.
Versatility is its middle name
The CM7MP comes from Niles' "Multi-Purpose" series of in-ceiling speakers. This speaker can be used in a variety of settings within your home, from the kitchen to your den, to that place under the eaves by the patio. Wherever they end up, the CM7MP will deliver many years of musical enjoyment.
A larger woofer for better bass response
The CM7MP employs a 7" glass fiber woofer — that's 1/2" larger in diameter than most speakers in its class. The extra woofer cone surface area results in richer, fuller bass. A 1" fluid-cooled UltraSilk® dome tweeter offers smooth, detailed highs. Top it off with the included magnetically attached grille and you're good to go. Plus it's covered by Niles' lifetime warranty.

Overview: The Niles Audio CM7MP Ceiling Mount speaker is designed for multi-purpose applications, and non-primary listening areas. It can be used as a left or right speaker in a stereo configuration, or left, center, or right in a home theater application. The CM7MP comes with a magnetically-attached paintable metal grille.
Note: The CM7MP is packaged as a single speaker.
Drivers: The CM7MP has a light, but strong 7" glass fiber cone woofer. The integrated woofer/baffle design enhances the low frequency response, and allows you to mount a 7" speaker in locations where many competitor's speakers with the same frame diameter can only use a 6-1/2" driver. The 1" fluid-cooled UltraSilk soft dome tweeter provides clear, detailed highs and a focused high frequency sound. The proprietary bridge-mounted pivoting tweeter adjustment lets you aim the sound up to 20° in any direction.
Grille: The CM7MP includes a 10" diameter MicroThin grille, which attaches magnetically to the speaker. The 1/4" thick grille is easy to install, and blends with the room's aesthetics. It is rust-resistant, and paintable to match any décor. An optional SG7C square grille is also available, if desired.
Weather-Resistant: The frame, speaker, and grille are weather-resistant, so you can install the speaker in moist environments, including bathrooms and outdoors under eaves.
Speaker Terminals: The CM7MP is equipped with spring clip terminals, which can accept up to 12-gauge speaker wire. For wire runs of less than 80 feet, 16-gauge wire is recommended. You should use 14-gauge wire for runs of 80-200 feet, and 12-gauge wire for runs over 200 feet.
Note: When running speaker wire inside walls or ceilings, special jacketed cable (CL-2 or CL-3) should be used to protect the wire and for fire prevention. If unsure, you should consult your local building inspectors about code compliance requirements.
Installation: Installing the speaker requires a 8-1/2" cutout. The speaker requires a depth of 3-3/4" behind standard 5/8" drywall. There are three spring-loaded mounting clamps with screws that tighten from the front.
