Overview: The Niles Audio Cynema Soundfield System is the first
in-wall soundbar that installs flush below your wall-mounted flat panel TV. The
CSF65a is a powered system that includes a digital amplifier and three self-contained speaker modules
(for left, center, and right channels). The amplifier and speaker modules tuck down into the
wall cavity between the studs, and can be adjusted along the mounting rails for
best separation. The system comes with a flush-mount grille for a seamless look.
Amplifier: The CSF65a includes a 3-channel digital amplifier
to power the left, center, and right channel speaker modules. The amplifier
mounts in-wall between two of the speaker modules. It is powered by a
separately-mounted DC power supply, which sends low voltage DC power through the
wall. Audio Specifications:
- Output Power: 30W RMS x 3
- Frequency Response: 100 Hz to 20 kHz (+0dB/-3dB or
- Channel Separation: (channel to channel crosstalk)
>70dB or better @ 1 kHz
- Signal-to-Noise: >75dB or better (based on Rated
Power/100Hz to 20kHz un-weighted)
- Dimensions: 3-3/4" W x 4" D x 6-1/4" H (2-3/4" below
In-Wall Power Supply: The amplifier is powered by the
supplied In-Wall Power Supply, which should be installed either behind or below
the TV and adjacent AC outlet. The power supply has a heavy duty AC power cord
which plugs in the front of the module. Behind the wall, the 24-volt DC power
output cable runs inside the wall and plugs into the back of the amplifier.
Because there is no high voltage wires are running through the wall, no
electrician is needed for installation.
Speaker Modules: The three speaker modules are self-contained sealed
enclosures with dual 2" x 3" oval woofers and a 1" silk dome tweeter. The curved
rear wave enclosure tucks down into the wall, while the drivers fire out of a 9"
x 3" frame on the front. Only 3-1/2" depth behind the drywall and 3" of
clearance inside the wall below the cutout is required. The woofers are angled slightly upward toward the
listening area. Gold-plated spring posts are mounted to the bottom of the
enclosure to connect the supplied speaker wire. Speaker module dimensions:
9-5/8" L x 4" D x 6-1/2" H.
Grille: The CSF65a comes with a white metal MicroPerf grille that
attaches magnetically to the in-wall mounting system's frame. The 65" x 5-1/4"
grille is only a 1/4" thick to give an unobtrusive appearance. The grille is
paintable to make it virtually disappear into the décor.
Optional Wireless Subwoofer: The system includes the bracket
to mount the optional Niles
SW-T Wireless Subwoofer transmitter behind the wall on the In-Wall Mounting
System. The SW-T receives power from the Cynema Soundfield's amplifier. This
would allow you to place a Niles
SW8 powered subwoofer in the room using the
SW-R Wireless Subwoofer receiver.
Installation: The Cynema Soundfield System is easy to install. The
flexible and unique In-wall Mounting System lets you install the system without
cutting or drilling into the wall studs. A cutout in the drywall of 62-1/4"
W x 3-3/4" H is required. (Cardboard templates for the speakers and the
separate In-Wall Power Supply are included to assist you in making the cutout.)
Four screw-down brackets and two clamp-down end brackets are
included to hold the top and bottom rails in place. The three speaker modules
and amplifier snap into place between the studs, with covers and joiners to fill in the gaps.
The modules can be adjusted laterally along the rails for optimum imaging. The
In-Wall Power Supply mounts into a 8-3/8" W x 3-11/16" H cutout near an
available power outlet. The DC power output cable runs inside the wall to the
amplifier power input.
Connections: The amplifier's connections are on the bottom
of the module, so the input and output cables need to be run inside of the wall.
Connections are provided for HDMI input, HDMI output (pass through to TV), L/C/R
Speaker output, Subwoofer Output, Toslink Optical Input, Stereo Input (3.5mm),
Aux Stereo Input, External IR Receiver Input, and Subwoofer Transmitter Power
0<5V (for optional SW-T).
