Controls/Connections Spring clip connectors in rear accept up to 14 gauge speaker wire Push button selector switches for 4 speaker pairs Impedance switch on the front panel helps protect amplifier Specifications Construction: black metal chassis with padded feet 100 watts per channel continuous power handling Flat frequency response from 20-20k Use 4-8 ohm speakers Tech Notes:The SPS4 connects all speakers in parallel and the button on the front of the unit adds 2.5 ohms of resistance to the total load. Ohms law can then be applied to determine the operating load of a given combination. For example: when 4 pairs of 8 ohm speakers are used with this selector's built-in impedance correction circuit, the amp will see a 4.5 ohm load. If you use 4 pairs of 4 ohm speakers, the total load drops just below 4 ohms. In this case be sure your amplifier can handle a 4 ohm load. Note: The manual for this model indicates that it should not be used with connections from A and B speaker outputs simultaneously, however if the amplifier/pre-amp or receiver is connected in series the connection is ok, volume expectations should be kept low. (The amp may be driven to clipping for lack of power when 3 or 4 pairs of speakers are connected.) [per Niles 3/10/93] Product Reviews Be the first to review this product.
