Features

Construction: The chassis is durable black metal with padded feet.

Speaker Switches: Each set of speaker outputs has an on/off switch so any combination of connected speakers can be played at any given time.

Protection Switch: The impedance protection switch on the front of the unit safeguards the receiver or amplifier even when all pairs of speakers playing.

Note: You will need to activate the Protection switch whenever the overall system impedance might fall below 4 ohms. It is recommended to verify that the receiver or amplifier is capable of driving a 4-ohm load.

Removable Speaker Terminals: There are six removable speaker output terminal blocks and one removable speaker input terminal block, each of which can accept 14 to 22-gauge wire (16-gauge recommended). This makes it easier to wire the speaker selector into your system.

Labels: Included are 72 pre-printed and 6 blank label stickers for easy identification of the front panel controls.

Specifications:

  • Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz, +/- 0dB (flat)
  • Power Handling: 100 watts per channel RMS at 8 ohms

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

I blew out my Denon Component/Integrated Stereo Amplifier by running 6 sets of speakers with NO Speaker Selector for 20 years. Can you recommend the best Integrated Stereo Amplifier that works with Niles and my Bose System?

Q
Is there a matching wall mount audio control? Looking for one wall mount with option to control 6 pairs of speakers.

Sure, You can use Impedance Magnifying in-wall volume controls (up to 8) with a distribution block to safely connect multiple speaker pairs to 2 channels of amplification without having to use the speaker selector: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_190VCS100K/item.html & http://www.crutchfield.com/p_190VCSHUB8/item.html Keep in mind; this will not leave you with much wattage per speaker so, it is only recommended for background music and lower listening levels. For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact the Crutchfield A/V Design Group: http://www.crutchfield.com/Institutional/diy.aspx I hope that helps. Q
I have an older amplifier. I want to purchase two of the HPS-6's and run 12 sets of speakers throughout my house and outside. Is this possible?

The Niles HSP-6 is a good choice. I am not sure whether they can be daisy chained and if they can, they will only service 11 speakers. If your amplifier has two speaker outputs, each one can service one HPS-6 and therefore 12 speakers. If you are going to run your wires in the walls, you will need to get wire that meets code as suggested by Crutchfield. at least 16 gage wire is suggested. I would also recommend getting the Niles volume controls for each room as each room will have different volume requirements. The last factor that you need to take into account is how much resistance your old amplifier can handle because too much speaker resistance can cause the amplifier to die. If you only plan to run one or two speakers at a time this should not be a problem. You can ask the engineers at Crutchfield to see if they know how much your amplifier can handle. I hope that this helps.

I have 6 sets of speakers, 5 inside and 1 outside and all works great. I guess as long as the amp can power all twelve speakers, for sure the two selectors will work just fine.

Yes I have done this with older receiver it works just don't play it to loud it blew my channels out of the reciever
