Specifications

Features

Construction: The chassis is durable black metal with padded feet.

Speaker Switches: Each set of speaker outputs has an on/off switch so any combination of connected speakers can be played at any given time.

Removable Speaker Terminals: There are two removable speaker output terminal blocks and one removable speaker input terminal block. The blocks are removable, making it easier to wire the SSVC-2 into your system, and the blocks accept 14 to 22 gauge wire.

Protection Circuitry: The left and right channel ground returns are isolated to make the unit compatible with all types of amplifiers. The impedance magnification switch on the rear of the unit offers settings for up to six pair of speakers (even though there are only two pair of outputs) so the impedance load presented to the amplifier remains constant.

Note: It is recommended to verify that the receiver or amplifier is capable of driving a 4-ohm load.

Volume Controls: The volume controls use autoformers instead of L-pads to minimize power loss and heat production. Each volume control uses a 12 position rotary knob with "pop-free" switching and 54 dB total attenuation.

Labels: Included are 72 pre-printed label stickers for easy identification of the front panel controls.

Q
If one pair of speakers connected to Speaker 1 output and one pair of speakers connected to Speaker 2 output, what is the corrrect setting for the impedance magnification - 1 or 2?

A
Hi Brian, the selector switch in the back lets the unit know how many speaker pairs to expect. In your example, you would set the speaker pair selector to 2 since you have 2 pairs of speakers.

Yes, very well. Just make sure you set the relative volume for each zone if you have vastly different kinds of speakers in each zone.

Q
Would this work with the Denon x2100w receiver?
corradino  Apr 18, 2015

A
Most receivers are designed to handle 8 ohm or 6/4 ohm loads from each speaker output. This selector switch is required if you wanted to use the receiver to drive 2 pairs of speakers for your front channels. So for example, 2 Front Lefts, and 2 Front Rights. The presents a problem for the receiver because the impedance load set for the receiver is 8 ohms (All the other speakers are 8 ohms) BUT now you have a 4 ohm load for your front speakers. This is where the Niles selector switch comes into play. You would hook the receiver's left and right front to the input of the selector switch and then 1 pair would connect to Output 1 and 1 pair would connect to Output 2 of the selector switch.

I have the Niles selector not the Denon. If the Denon has a speaker selector for speaker pair A and/or B then he does not need it. If he wants to run a third set of speakers (C) then he/she would need the larger Niles Selector.
