About the Bazooka BT6014

Steven Johnson

A bass cannon

The BT6014 Bass Tube features a 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer with a twin-layer compressed foam surround for smooth excursion. The 4-layer voice coil ensures reliable power handling for plenty of punch, and its 4-ohm impedance allows you to power multiple tubes with a single amp. The tube design eliminates standing bass waves for accurate response and high efficiency. Find a good spot for this Bazooka in your vehicle and you'll still enjoy plenty of cargo room.

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average car audio system sound good, and a good car audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tube to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vehicle.

Big bass without losing space

Bass Tubes enclosures fit just about anywhere

A compact Bass Tubes enclosure will fit in almost any vehicle, and you can disconnect it in a snap if you need more cargo space. Since the tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your tube — placing it in a corner of your trunk or cargo area so your vehicle's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production.

Features

Overview: The BT6014 features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 6-1/2" poly woofer with a foam surround. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

5-Way Binding Posts: The 5-way binding posts will accept bare wire, pin connectors, spade lugs, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs.

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Q
I have. A 2020 ram 1500 with alpine system. Could I run wires from a rear door speaker to this and make it work ?

A
It is likely that the deeper bass frequencies in your system are being sent the factory subwoofer. For in-depth help with this project, please reach out to our advisors via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

A Crutchfield technician would be a better person to pose this question to.
ralph  Dec 13, 2017
A
Yes. Only powered subwoofers do not need an amplifier.
james  Dec 13, 2017
A
Yes, you'll need an amp for that, I'm running two 6 1/2 bazooka's with an alpine amp rated at 500watts. They also have an amplified 6 1/2 bazooka ( BTA6100) that's rated at 100 watts if buying an external amplifier is not an option.

For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

Q
I have Pioneer's best head unit which is the DEH-80PRS. It has 14 watts RMS 50 watts peak x 4 channels. I am running highly efficient speakers. One pair is 2-100 watts RMS (200Wpeak) and the other pair is 6-55 watts RMS (165 w peak). My question is since this bass tube is also efficient (6-100 watts RMS), can I get away with only using my head unit power (no additional amp) to power all four speakers and this bass tube?

A
The tube does not have a crossover built in. Most subs need to be cut off at 100hz to 120hz. Most head units don't give you that type of adjustment. Also as I said in my earlier email it will burn up the very small amp in the headunit. I used 2 channels of a four channel amp to the 4 speakers and bridged the 2 channel to this tube. It sounded great and hit very hard for a 6" tube.
ashley  Mar 09, 2015
A
No. It will burn up the amp in the head unit. It will drop it down to 2 ohms on each channel. The head unit is not made to run a 2 ohms for long or at all. You would have to run all 4 speakers on the front Chanel and bridge the rear Chanel for the tube. It can be wired that way but will smoke the head unit up after you turn it up for awhile or go into thermal protection possibility. I would recommend against it. Save your money and buy a small 2 Chanel amp. Bridge it and get the most out of the amp. E
ashley  Mar 09, 2015
A
It would be better to get a powered Bazooka and run it off your sub preamp output, so you can adjust the Bazooka level independently.
brad  Mar 09, 2015
Q
Which is better, a 4 ohm or an 8 ohm? I do not have an amp yet, so I can get either. Thank you

It is important to match it it the amp, so as you shop for your amp match your new sub. I had three sets of Bazookas one in my Bronco and two in my boat. They had just the right amount of bass.

I investigated all of this 1 year ago, and have forgot most of the technical stuff on the 4 and 8ohm. I purchased the 4ohm since I had an Alpine 4 channel amp. I installed 2 Rockford Fostgate 6 1/2" speakers in doors hooked to 1 channel each. Then I hooked the 2 other channels into the tube. This is in my sons S10. Sounds awesome. No regrets at all. Need 1 in my Silverado. Good luck.
timothy  Dec 29, 2014
A
John There is no difference in the sound of the speakers. Depending on the amp you purchase or how many speakers you have, then you would need different ohm speakers. If your doing a single tube. You would want a 4 ohm and a 2 channel amp to bridge the amp to 2 ohms and get the most power out of the amp. Let me know if you have more questions. E

Where is the fuse located on this unit ?

A
This is a non-powered Bazooka tube, so it does not have a fuse.
