About the Bazooka BTA6100

Steven Johnson

A bass cannon

The affordable BTA6100 6-1/2" amplified Bazooka Bass Tube lets you add ride-filling bass to your system with a minimum of hassle. It's an ideal solution if you drive a leased vehicle, and want the thrill of powerful bass but don't want to make any modifications. The BTA6100 Bass Tubes enclosure comes with a 6-1/2" woofer, a built-in amp (100 watts max power), and installation parts including a power/signal harness (15" power and ground wires, 10" turn on and speaker input leads, RCA inputs, and auto turn-on jumper), 7.5-amp fuse with holder, power rings, and mounting hardware.

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average car audio system sound good, and a good car audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tube to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vehicle.

Big bass without losing space

Bass Tubes fit just about anywhere

A compact Bass Tube will fit in almost any vehicle, and you can disconnect it in a snap if you need more cargo space. Since the tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your tube — placing it in a corner of your trunk or cargo area so your vehicle's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production.

Bass control from the driver's seat

An optional wired Remote Bass Control Module gives you independent in-dash volume control of your bottom end.

Important Note: You'll need to purchase an amp wiring kit to install this powered Bass Tubes enclosure — the included wiring harness is less than two feet long.

Features

Overview: The BTA6100 features a water-resistant poly enclosure that houses a 6-1/2" poly woofer with a foam surround. The woofer is powered by a built-in 100-watt maximum amplifier. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency.

Low-pass Filter: The BTA6100 has a fixed low-pass filter at 85 Hz with a slope of 18 dB/octave.

Subsonic Filter: The subsonic filter, set at 35Hz, prevents really low frequencies from being amplified. This allows the amplifier to run more efficiently with increased power output.

Remote Level Control: Using an optional remote level control, you can control the bass output level of the subwoofer from a remote location.

Auto Turn-On: The subwoofer will turn on automatically when it senses music in the high-level or low-level inputs.

Balanced Input Circuitry: Balanced low-level and balanced high-level input circuitry is used for improved noise reduction.

Controls

Back Panel:

  • Level Control: rotary control that allows you to adjust the level of the subwoofer
  • Input Phase Switch: allows you to adjust the phase of the subwoofer
  • Power LED: if power, ground and remote are connected properly, the LED will illuminate in green
Connections

Back Panel:

  • Remote Level Control: minijack for use with optional remote level control
  • Harness: 14-pin Molex plug for use with supplied harness
Installation

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Required Accessories:

  • Power Wire: the 16-gauge power lead is only 10" long, so additional wire is required to extend it to the battery. Additional power wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's power lead.
  • Ground Wire: the 16-gauge ground lead is also only 10" long, and may need to be extended. Additional ground wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's ground lead.
  • Speaker Wire: required only when using the high-level inputs
  • RCA Patch Cord: required only when using the low-level inputs
  • Remote Turn-on Wire: required only if you do not use the auto turn-on feature

Q
I am using an EFX PA10BX Wiring Kit for the Bazooka BTA6100 and will be connecting the kit's thin blue trigger wire to the blue (maybe blue/white) amp trigger wire in the head unit (Stinger Heigh10). Looking at pages 9 and 14 of the Bazooka Installation Manual, should I remove the Quick Disconnect Yellow On/Off Jumper Loop/Auto Turn-On Loop - or not? (Manual says, "Remove Auto Turn-on Loop to use orange remote wire for normal remote turn-on." Huh?)

There may be a way to adjust the volume level of those alerts depending on how it was installed and the goals for the audio. If it was purchased from us, I recommend contacting our technical support by calling their toll free number on your order invoice. If that is not handy, you can call us using 1-800-324-9695 and we can look up the order number to then connect you with our technical support to check

Q
I have a 10 inch powered bazooka in my 2007 Toyota 4 runner, for now is mounted on the back seats running across the car to save trunk space. Will it make a big difference in sound if i mounted it maybe facing towards the trunk?
bradley  May 13, 2021
1 answer
A
If you mount it in the rear hatch with the port a few inches away from the liftgate, it will make a HUGE difference in sound. I have a 6.5 inch in my Prius, and my dad has an 8 inch in his 4runner, (same year as yours) and it absolutely slams due to all the airspace for the bass to travel in the 4 runner. His is mounted in the passenger rear corner with the port about 6 inches from the liftgate, and it does not take up much room at all. Hope this helps.

Q
Will a 10 inch tube fit under the back seat of a 2018 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab,?.or a 8 inch ?
bradley  May 13, 2021
1 answer
A
Our research department found there to be very little depth to the area under the seat and recommend using a sub like this 6-1/2" so it protrudes the least from under the seat

It fits 1949 Ford truck anyway ( behind seat) I used a tape measure, to figure mine out due to it being a custom build

Yes and no, it will fit part way under but about 1/3 will stick out.Enter

Will this fit behind the back seat of a 02 Chevy S10 crew cab?

A
I think it would. It fit under my 14 crew cab fine, but it is a 1500. The bass was suprising once the speaker broke in. I would go by the diameter specs and measure under the seat.
mathew  Oct 14, 2019
A
I do not know, I installed it behind the back seat of a 2005 TJ and there isn't much. The diameter should be about 7.5 "
brent  Oct 07, 2019
A
Not sure . It will fit under the back seat of a 2001 Ford F-150 supercab.
felipe  Oct 07, 2019
A
It'll be tight, but I think it will.
roger  Oct 07, 2019
A
Absolutely. Follow the instructions about distance from the outer walls so you can get the best bass reflex and let it breath. Helps if the extra cab area is carpeted.

I have had several Bazzocka's over the years. They have worked well for me. The center console of your boat we would be a great place. Use the marine version to handle the damp environment, for long lasting use.

Q
I want to add bass to my '69 Beetle convertible. Considering this behind the back seat. Reviews look good, but don't want to waste my money on bass I won't even hear back there. Not exactly a hot rod sound, but definitely a louder car than your standard late model vehicle. Would this little gem get the job done? Don't wanna rattle the asphalt, just make a little rumble.

I am extremely happy with this Sub! While it will not win you any competitions, it will fill your bug nicely!! I put it behind my daughters bench seat in her '94 F350...wow. I have to turn it down as it is too much for that cab size. Truely full bass too! For fun I ran some bass test cd's through it and it was amazing for what this unit costs, and it's size! And was so simple to install and setup. Enjoy.
michael  May 02, 2018

This is a great addition if you just want to add some bass but not rattle the car next to you. I would recommend it over and over again. I have had mine for over a year now and it still kicks. Plus it's convenient - you can take it out within a matter of seconds if you need extra space and pop it back in within the same amount of time.
paul  May 02, 2018

This is my second Bazooka. Perfect to add a little thump. Easy to install and wire. We fully recommend.
kent  May 02, 2018
A
This is a good product. It's great adding a good solid bass for rockin' roll. Not for rapp. Easy installation. The harness that comes with it is ok. However, the one that should come with it is extra and is long enough to put in a 70s era Cadillac. Makes the job even easier. I would recommend this product for an adequate bass sound

Q
Can I have this bass tube installed without having to modify my factory system. I'm concerned because I have a newer car with a touchscreen?
bigdb  Apr 07, 2018
4 answers
A
Yes you can. You would just need to splice into the factory speaker wires. This allows for both high level inputs (speaker wires) or low level inputs (RCA).
ryan  Apr 09, 2018
A
I am not sure my 98 Grand Marq does not have the factory radio. The Crutchfeild Techs should be able to help you they are great, and were very helpful helping me pick out the wright bazooka tube for my car. I think they sell some type of adapter that will allow you to hook it up to a factory system
charles  Apr 07, 2018
A
Yes. You could run this off of any speaker signal.
stephen  Apr 07, 2018
A
Yes. Use the speaker level inputs in the bass tube and tap some wires off of your vehicle L & R speakers near the Bazooka, then choose the auto on function that senses a sound signal that turns on the bass tube. This way you do not have to interface with the factory head unit at all. The Bazooka will get its sound from the taps into the factory speaker wiring and will auto turn on when it senses a loud enough sound signal from those speaker taps.

Can this sub be installed on its side. Meaning cannot be installed with the tube turned so the it is 7 inches high and 9 inches wide?

A
Absolutely
mike  Aug 23, 2017
A
Yes Dominic, the position of the tube makes no difference in the operation. As long as the open end is not blocked it should be fine.
william  Aug 19, 2017
A
all of the wired connections run into the flat bottom of it so you couldn't stand it up on it's end without affecting those.

Q
Would you recommend the 6.5 powered bazooka tube in a 2006 prius? Once the laughter subsides, I'd appreciate some guidance on whether it's worth the effort or not. Thanks.
hitman  Mar 29, 2016
2 answers
A
NO worries on laughing. I bought one for a golf cart and so didn't need to be bumping down the road to save on gas but it did really great filling the low end of other 4 speakers. I had the 4 speakers hooked up to a 4 ch. Kenwood app that easily tucks in small places (golf cart radio console had perfect spot for it and then the powered bazooka tube and it sounds awesome for being a small sub. So if ur wanting to save space then the bazooka tube is great but do research on other powered subs that can fit under seats and may be beneficial and check reviews and ask more questions but the bazooka tube does sound nice for its size

I bought one for my Toyota truck and it works better than any base speaker I have ever owned. It comes with straps attached to base plates that can be screwed into a wood base or whatever. Two of these would be AWESOME. I would definitely buy two of these the next time I build a great truck stereo, Randy H DSD
