About the Bazooka MBT8014

Ken Nail

A bass cannon

The MBT8014 Bass Tubes enclosure features a waterproof 8" polypropylene woofer with a twin-layer compressed foam surround for smooth excursion. The sub handles up to 150 watts RMS for plenty of punch, and it's UV- and moisture-resistant, so you can enjoy great-sounding bass out on the water for years to come. Its 4-ohm impedance allows you to power multiple tubes with a single amp. Bazooka's patented tube design ensures accurate and efficient output, so you don't need a big amp to get big sound.

A bass cannon

Bass makes up about 30% of your music, and it gives music its power and impact. A good subwoofer can make an average marine audio system sound good, and a good marine audio system sound great. Good bass is all about moving air, and a cylindrical tube translates the motion of its woofer into maximum air pressure so you hear and feel more bass. Bazooka designed the Bass Tube to act like a bass cannon, firing low frequencies throughout your vessel.

Bass Tubes enclosures fit just about anywhere

The tube's speaker and port are right next to each other, so you can get amazing results by "corner loading" your Bazooka — placing it in a corner so your boat's boundaries act as a natural amplifier, boosting bass production.

Installation

Features

Marine Grade Construction: The MBT8014 tube features an 8" waterproof woofer. The enclosure is certified salt fog and UV resistant for 5 years and the included mounting hardware is stainless steel.

Power Rating: The passive 4 ohm 8" woofer is rated at 6 to 150 watts with a frequency response of 39-1500 Hz.

Moisture Resistant Enclosure: The enclosure is moisture, UV, and salt fog resistant for reliable operation in all conditions.

5-Way Platinum-Colored Binding Posts: The input terminals are platinum-colored to resist corrosion. The binding posts will accept bare wire, spade lugs, banana plugs, dual banana plugs and pin connectors. The posts are recessed into a cup at the end of the tube opposite the woofer.

Installation

Mounting Method: There are 2 mounting bases that are made to be attached to your vehicle or boat with the provided 1" stainless steel self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube can be placed on the bases and secured with the included mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2 to 4 inches between the woofer and the corner into which it is pointing.

Q
Do I need to add another amplifier for this bazooka??

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Q
Do I need to add another amplifier fo this bazooka?

A
Yes, it has no amplifier of it's own. They have powered bazookas that don't require a separate amp, but this one is not powered.
john  May 20, 2018
A
Yes, it is not self powered. I put a small 4 channel kenwood on it and sounds food in my Jeep.
brian  May 20, 2018
Q
So you HAVE to have an Amp or does it come with it's own amp once supplied w/ power?

I have a 400 watt amp hooked to it
ronald  Jun 08, 2015

This sub will require an amp of some kind. Some stereos have a certain amount of amperage for a sub, but to really power it and get the best sound a proper amp is needed. I asked a Cruchfield rep for a recommended amp and it worked awesome. I can thump the lake like crazy if I like!
terrill  Jun 08, 2015
A
Yes, you have to run an amp with this subwoofer. This model has speaker inputs only. Bazooka does make another model like this and it has a built in internal amp for sound.
rodney  Jun 05, 2015
A
This does NOT have an internal amp. YES, you need to have a seperate amp to power this Bazooka.
michael  Jun 04, 2015
Q
My stereo has RCA plugs for the sub outputs. Does this have RCA plug inputs?
david  Mar 03, 2015

A
This has speaker level inputs. The RCA outputs would be used to run to an amp, then the amp would connect to this speaker.

Q
Does this sub need to be supplied with power from the boat battery and also be grounded OR does it just get connected to an amp like a speaker?
mwatts  Sep 03, 2014

A
Two speaker leads a black and a white. powered by amp. Red lead to rear left pos, black lead to rear right neg. Supplied instructions are pretty clear. Pretty happy with sub so far, adds fullness to system and makes speakers work better in my view. be sure to move appropriate switches on your amp to bypass frequencies to speakers. Crutchfield tech support was very helpful.
