Features

Marine Grade Construction: The MBTA8250D features an 8" waterproof poly woofer. The woofer is powered by a built-in 160-watt (250 watts peak) digital amplifier. The patented Bass Tube enclosure design eliminates bass standing waves for high accuracy, and superior efficiency. The enclosure is certified salt fog and UV resistant for 5 years and the included mounting hardware is stainless steel.

Low-pass Filter: The MBTA8250D has a low-pass filter that can be adjusted from 60 to 250 Hz.

2nd Woofer Output: The MBTA8250D has a high-level output for adding an optional MBT8014 (204MBT8014) passive bass tube to double the bass. The amplifier output increases to 275 watts (peak) when the 2nd woofer is connected.

Remote Level/Crossover Control: Using the optional RBCM-250D remote control (204RBCM250), you can control the bass output level and crossover frequency of the subwoofer from a remote location.

Controls

Level Control: There is a rotary control on the rear-panel that allows you to adjust the level of the subwoofer.

Crossover Control: The unit's rotary control is found on the rear-panel and allows you to adjust the low-pass filter from 60 to 250 Hz.

Power LED: If power, ground and remote are connected properly, the LED on back of the unit will illuminate in green.

Connections

Remote Control: Phone-type jack for use with an optional remote control; found on rear-panel

Power Harness: Two quick-slides for use with supplied power harness; found on rear-panel

Signal Harness: 14-pin Molex plug for use with supplied signal harness

Installation

Installation: Each mounting strap has an attached mounting base that can be secured to your vehicle using the supplied self-tapping screws. Once the mounting bases are installed, the tube is held in place by the mounting straps. For best results, the tube should be mounted facing into a corner, and there should be 2" to 4" between the woofer and the corner into which the woofer is pointing.

Required Accessories:

  • Power Wire: The 12-gauge power lead is only 11" long, so additional wire is required to extend it to the battery. Additional power wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's power lead.
  • Ground Wire: The 12-gauge ground lead is also only 23" long, and may need to be extended. Additional ground wire must be crimped or soldered to the Bazooka's ground lead.
  • Speaker Wire: required only when using the high-level inputs
  • RCA Patch Cord: required only when using the low-level inputs
  • Remote Turn-on Wire: required to connect the remote turn-on lead to the amplifier turn-on lead of your radio

Q
Can I play the basooka with a home audio ?
juan  Jan 29, 2023
1 answer
A
This is not designed for use in a home audio application. It requires 12V power instead of 110V power.

Q
Can you mount this vertically?
brian  Jul 12, 2020

A
I'm sure you can, mine is horizontal, but if you have something to bounce off I don't think there will be a problem.
eric  Jul 13, 2020
A
The mounting system that comes with the speaker is a couple of straps that wrap around the speaker. You would have to modify the mounting process. If you can handle that, the speaker works in any orientation.
scott  Jul 13, 2020
A
I would not think the straps sent with this unit would hold it in place vertically. You could get large screw clamps ( for ductwork). from local hardware store And try that.

Q
Does this put out adequate bass at only 8". Not looking for earth moving bass, but I would like to round out my jl 600/6 speaker set up without breaking the bank. Wetsounds AS 10 also in consideration vs just building up a mono amp and 10" set up. Easy and cheap would be preferable if this can get the job done. It would have to go in a storage locker. thoughts?

I added this to my 23' Formula and put it in the cuddy. It is not earth moving, but it does a nice job of rounding out the sound from the Kenwood marine head with 4 Infinity 6 1/2" speakers. I also have an Alpine Amp for the 4 speakers. It works great for my teenage kids

Q
Can this be painted? The white is not ideal for the location I plan to install this.

A
of course, it's plastic. I probably would not paint the end the sound comes out of. But the body could be painted. I think they also have it in black.
scott  Jul 13, 2020
A
I not sure of that.
carlos  Jun 12, 2020
A
I'm not sure buddy. It's a pretty tough unit. I wouldn't see why not. I've had it out in the elements on a Craig cat boat.(Look it up) and it's been great. No problems out of it.
stephen  Jun 11, 2020
A
Yes , I painted mine black . Make sure you use paint for the fiberglass body. Picked my paint up at Menards. I disassembled. Taped off the electrical connections. Turned out great
