Features
Overview: The Kicker iK500 is a digital stereo audio system
designed specifically for use with the Apple iPod. It has a standard iPod dock
connector in the front, and a variety of dock adapters to fit virtually any dockable
iPod model. Older non-dockable iPods and other music sources can be connected to
the system through a 3.5mm mini-jack auxiliary input. The iKICK plays your iPod
music files over high-quality stereo speakers, driven by a powerful stereo
amplifier with digital signal processing.
Speaker System: The iK500 is equipped with two 2-way speakers
and a square passive radiator. It features dual 5" full-range Kicker drivers,
and 3/4" silk dome tweeters. On the back of the unit is a 6" square
passive radiator to add a punchy low frequency response.
Amplifier: The 2-way speakers are driven by a powerful 20
watts per channel stereo amplifier. Digital signal processing allows you to
adjust the audio to suit your tastes. You can independently adjust the bass and
treble from -9 to +9, using the front panel's sole rotary control or the supplied
remote control.
iPod Dock: The iK500 is "Made for iPod/iPhone compatible"
and supports the following iPod/iPhone model functions (Dec. 2009).

Note: The iPhone (2G/3G/3GS) should be placed in
"Airplane" mode. Apple firmware updates may change functionality
results.
Charging The iPod: The iK500 will charge a docked iPod's
battery, as long as the unit is plugged into an AC power outlet. In Standby
mode, the iK500 will be powered down, but the iPod will continue to charge.
Note: The 3rd generation iPods (the
first iPods with the dock connector, released July 2002)
are compatible with the iK500, but will not charge while
docked or respond to remote control playback functions.
Remote Control: The iK500 includes a credit card-sized wireless
remote control (3-3/4" L x 2" W x 5/16" H) for control of your iPod
as well as the music system. The 10-button remote lets you adjust the system's
volume up and down, as well as mute, power, menu, bass and treble. iPod controls
include Play/pause, Skip Forward/Backward, Fast Forward/Rewind, menu, up/down
navigation within the menu, and make selections inside the iPod menu.
On-board Control: The iK500 features a single rotary knob,
which turns to control volume and adjust menu parameters, presses to cycle through
the menu selections, and turns on/off when pressed and held. Just above the rotary
control is an LCD display to indicate volume, bass and treble values, and aux
input status.
Note: When the iK500 is powered on or off with the
rotary knob or remote control, the iPod is also turned on or off.
Auxiliary Input: The unit is equipped with a 3.5mm mini-jack
auxiliary input on the rear panel, allowing you to plug in a second source device.
You must activate the aux input through the rotary control in order to listen to
the auxiliary unit. While the aux input is activated, iPod control and audio are
disabled.
Line Output: A pair of RCA jacks are provided on the back
panel to allow you to connect your iK500 to another powered speaker system or
home stereo system.
