Kicker technology at work
Each Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround offers long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Easy to add to nearly any setup
Kicker's 10C104 10" subwoofer handles up to 150 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Priced per speaker

I have two of these subs in my truck and they sound great if you want to add some bass to your vehicle.

Great sub that matches stock Audi Symphony System

Maverick from Singapore on 7/4/2016

2013 Audi A6
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used it to replace the rear deck shelf factory sub. The basket is larger and does not fit. Have to grind the rear deck cutout and add MDF board for the subwoofer to fit. Nonetheless, the result is great. The power handling matches the stock speakers setup and blends in well with only a quarter dial gain on the amp. Works great and producers the missing frequency from the stock setup.

Pros: Well built nice look. Sufficient power and ability to run free air in the car without distortion at matching level with the others speakers.

Cons: Does not fit perfectly in the original subwoofer cutout in rear deck. Requires to grind the factory cutout hole larger and add MDF board to raise the sub.

wasnt planning on having a loud system....oh well

Twinky from livingston, TX on 4/15/2016

1999 Ford Escort

Was only looking to add a little "umph" to my basic system (Some cheap after market interiors and a decent headunit). While telling myself i wasnt looking for nothing too loud, i of course had to build a spec'd out vented enclosure. Doubting the stout looking 10" woofer, i put an old school small amp on it and fired up a song. A few minutes of giving it an ear tunning, me and my bros were exchanging looks of "no way". It was thumping and sounding good. And just to add some relevance to my opinion, i have to competition audiobahn's that used to be my daily drivers. Now im not saying these kickers compare with the audiobahns, just that i know what a thumping system sounds like. I liked the kicker enough that i went ahead and put a line driver and a 450 rms pioneer amp infront of it and people now think im some car audio expert cause of the sound im getting from such a low budget system. 90% is all from the vented box that i built to specs.

Pros: I like it

Cons: there are even better subs out there for similar prices.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Kicker subs are well built and have excellent sound quality for a beginner audio installation. Crutchfield provides excellent service, pricing and selection. Used to shop from the catalog when I was younger. Now getting my 16 year old son started with his first stereo system. Excellent company then and now.

Pros: Well built, Good sound quality with moderate power

Cons:

ok budget sub

ryan from boise, ID on 3/10/2016

For a budget woofer these will do...don't try to add any real power..mmy fosgate prime 500.1 kills these 2 10" subs...punch eq is down as is the gain and they can't handle it...

Pros: Price point

Cons: Distorted at mid to high volume.

These Kicker's were installed in my 2015 RAM Express Black Edition. I have a Punch 400 moving the 10 inch subs & they hit hard!! The box of course is under the back beach seat, it's just a regular box. I kept the factory radio 5.0 version & replaced all door speakers including the ones in the dash with kickers as well with No amp. It sounds great & I did not want to heard coming down the street either.

Pros: Great subs & they hit really hard!!

Cons: None

Great sound out of a 10" woofer. I had 2 Kicker CVR 12's in a sealed box before this and they would hit a little bit harder down low. However, For the price, these are hard to beat. I have them in a Subthump box underneath the seat of my 07 Classic Silverado 4 door.

Pros: Price, Quality, Sound, Brand reputation

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased a pair of these to replace the deteriorated original 10" woofers in my 35 year old Bose 501's. Wasn't sure if I really liked them at first, but the more I listen to them I'm sure they sound better than the originals. Some really good 'oooomph'!

Pros: Heavier magnets than the original Bose voice coils.

Cons: Had to rout the mounting hole out about 1/8 of an inch in the speakers, as the mount for the Kicker is a little bit bigger, but everything went back together nice and clean.

Kicker 10C104 Great sound for price and free shipping from manufacture

AllenT from Cumming, GA on 8/4/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This purchase was a continuation of upgrading my sound in a Honda Civic 2006 EX, current configuration Pioneer DEH-X8500BH CD Receiver with Alpine MRV-F300, front component speakers alpine and rear pioneer full range. Channel 1 & 2 driving 4 speakers, Channel 3 & 4 bridged pushing the 10' kicker sub-woofer

Pros: Kicker does the job and I'm very satisfied with the overall sound. Sound is good, lost some clarity with my speakers due to amp configuration but adjusted my G.Eq in the head unit that brought back some of the sound. Woofer is good, not boomy as I prefer but does. Looking to upgrade to 5 channel.

Cons: None

Anonymous from Madison, FL on 4/21/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub is awesome in my 350Z. There's no way around it. Before I bought this I had a company install a new stereo and the 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. Normally you "feel" the music before you hear it. Well there was no feeling. There wad no bass. Now I can barely get the volume up past 15 without blowing my own ear drums.

Pros: Easy to install. There's not much you can say bad about it. It thumps.

Cons: I was under the impression that mounting screws would be included. They weren't. But it's nothing that should make anyone shy away from this.

Hard to believe this is only a 10"

Tim from Louisville on 4/14/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced an older MTX thunder sub that was on its last leg (that I thought was awesome) with this Kicker and wow the difference is amazing. Its in the same 1cubic ft sealed custom box that the thunder came out of. Its pumped by a JL audio 500/1 & I can't be happier. If you need a 10" sub don't overlook this kicker.

Pros: No mods needed to my box. Fit perfectly. Super deep bass for a 10. Price. Looks great .

Cons: None as of yet

A lot of bang for the buck...

Topdavis from Baltimore,Md on 3/20/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't see how Kicker makes any money. I bought this sub to replace another Kicker sub that I had since 1990! Based on the durability of that sub, I have been a Kicker fan for a long time. Kicker competition subs ALWAYS seem to exceed expectations. I had to turn my amp DOWN because the thump was more than I needed - from one 10" sub. I know, I know, other subs from other manufacturers are rated higher and better, but Kicker Competitions can go toe to toe with any sub and hold its own if not surpass the competitor. I think you will be hard pressed to find a sub at the same price point that performs as close to this one.

Pros: Price, performance, durability

Cons:

ct4surf from Anaheim CA on 2/14/2013

They don't sound great. I've had solo baric, and CVR in my last truck and was not overly impressed. An audio shop talked me into this, I agreed because of the price. I listen to mostly metal, and they dont sound so great. They are in a truck-tuned box, with ample airspace, but just sound mediocre to me. I will be selling these and going with JL.

Pros: cheap, hits clean

Cons: lack of range, can't seem to handle rolling bass with any kind of volume.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the first sub I,ve had in a long time. I've always had at least two twelves and was hoping that this ten would give me something even close to what I was used to. I have to say although I've only got 125 total watts mono pushing it, it hits a lot harder than I expected. For the price this sub gives more than I could ask for I will probably be getting a four channel amp to boost my mids and highs so I can balance it out. If your looking for a good intro level sub this kicker is definitly the way to go. Very impressed with a very good product!

Pros: Whole lot of bass for a very reasonable price.

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I haven't had "big tunes" for quite some years now. Back then I had two 10" Bazookas in a standard box with 300 watts going to them. They sounded good, but this kicker hits so hard that just one of these is comparable to my old set up. Only have had this sub going for a few weeks so far, but I think this one will endure much of what you throw at it.

I bought these subs to replace MTX Thunder 4500 that one blew out in 2 years. These subs blew me away, I would highly recomend them to anyone, for the price its a great buy!

Great Sub, Even Better Price

Anonymous from Alabama on 4/25/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So i started off with Kicker by taking a shot in the dark when getting my sound system first put in my car. I had a 10" kicker in a shallow wedge box powered by a 300 Watt Polk Audio amp. It hit pretty hard but it was hard to hear when it was in the trunk. I decided to pick up a dual 10" box and ordered another one of these subs to put in there to see if it helped at all; the difference is amazing. To give a benchmark, with one sub i would set the volume to about 28 on my head unit and set the sub volume to 6 (out of 10) to get a little bit of thump. Now I have the sub volume set at -2 and the volume at 15 and the car is thumping. Any louder and the trunk vibrates uncontrollably. I have had the one kicker for almost a year now and both for a little over a day and I can say without a doubt they are some of the best bang for the buck subwoofers on the market. I have friends with the classic 2 12's and 600 watt amps and their systems just don't sound as good or as clean. This sub has performed well on any genre or volume of music I have thrown its way.

Pros: -Hits all frequencies well -Sounds very clean -Hits just about as hard as you want it to -The price of course -Hasn't gone out on me yet and I don't foresee it going out anytime soon.

Cons: -None so far

Frank J. from Newark, CA on 3/29/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought this as a replacement sub for my sons system in his Silverado that blew the sub speaker. This speaker was an excellent choice to compliment the system that is in the truck. The base is nice and tight and sounds much more integrated than the previous speaker that was in it. I would highly recommend this for single cab truck applications, sound is excellent. We had to change some of the settings due to the fact that this speaker hits really hard! As a plus the speaker looks really good as well.

Pros: Excellent sound from a 10" sub

I have always used kicker subs, I got these and they are even better than the older ones that I had. I was a little worried when I put these in because I used an old 50 watt per channel amp that I got in high school, ( I graduated in 1993.) These Kickers rock I even had to turn the base on the stereo all the way down, very good speakers!!!

I really wasn't going to buy new subwoofers but these were too good of a deal to pass up. Installed them in my GMC 2010 Sierra & they totally blew away my 10" Kenwood sub & old 10" Kicker sub that I had in the truck previously with the same amp (Punch 75.2 that is about 10-12 years old). I also installed the Kicker DS600 into all 4 doors. This is now the best the sounding system I have ever had in a vehicle. Love them!

Sounds great inside the vehicle and when you step outside all you can hear is a low thud when standing right next to the car. Awesome fast shipping and great packaging quality.

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Polypropylene Cone: The Kicker Comp subwoofer's super-rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone features 360-degree back bracing to completely eliminate flex and distortion.

Ribbed Foam Surround: The optimized ribbed foam surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features durable Spiralead tinsel leads, which are woven into the woofer's progressive-roll polycotton spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features a resilient, steel basket with coil-cooling perimeter venting and a vented pole piece for heat dissipation, so the high-temperature voice coil stays cool.

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications as well.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequency between 20 to 30 Hz.

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 1.0 cu/ft
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 2.4 cu/ft

Recommended Vented Box Volume: A vented enclosure design is the choice for loud, high-performance bass for SPL contests.

  • Compact: 1.25 cu/ft with a 1.5" x 10.5" slot port opening that is 14.5" in depth
  • SQ: 1.75 cu/ft with a 1.5" x 10.5" slot port opening that is 13.25" in depth

Note: The SQ enclosures generates a flatter response curve and extends sub-bass response.

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofer does not require a sealed or vented enclosure for good bass performance. The Comp subwoofer is designed to also be used as a free-air driver. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the rear deck and trunk space of most sedan type vehicles.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS--if you double that same recommendation for 2 of these subs, you'd want an amp rated between 240 and 450 watts RMS x 1 at 2-ohm which the Kicker CX300.1 amp falls nicely in between. Is that 600 watt rms? If so, you only need 1 channel per sub. They are 150 rms each and should be pushed with atleast that much. Maybe wire the other 2 channels to some 3-way speakers...if the amp is 600 max, then you may have to put 2 channels to each sub, figure the rms per channel and get as close to 150 per sub as possible. Hope this helps [ MICHAEL  Jun 25, 2014 ]
Yes. That should be plenty of power to make them sound good. [ GARY  Jun 24, 2014 ]
