Kicker technology at work
Each Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround offers long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Easy to add to nearly any setup
Kicker's 10C124 12" subwoofer handles up to 150 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications.

Team this sub with a Kicker amp and save
Take away the worry of picking the right amp for your sub. This Kicker bass package adds a DX250.1 amp to a pair of these subs, while this bass package combines the DX250.1 with a single sub.

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Polypropylene Cone: The Kicker Comp subwoofer's super-rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone features 360-degree back bracing to completely eliminate flex and distortion.

Ribbed Foam Surround: The optimized ribbed foam surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features durable Spiralead tinsel leads, which are woven into the woofer's progressive-roll polycotton spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features a resilient, steel basket with coil-cooling perimeter venting and a vented pole piece for heat dissipation, so the high-temperature voice coil stays cool.

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications as well.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequency between 20 to 30 Hz.

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 1.25 cu/ft
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3.5 cu/ft

Recommended Vented Box Volume: A vented enclosure design is the choice for loud, high-performance bass for SPL contests.

  • Compact: 1.75 cu/ft with a 2.0" x 12.5" slot port opening that is 16.0" in depth
  • SQ: 2.25 cu/ft with a 2.0" x 12.5" slot port opening that is 16.375" in depth

Note: The SQ enclosures generates a flatter response curve and extends sub-bass response.

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofer does not require a sealed or vented enclosure for good bass performance. The Comp subwoofer is designed to also be used as a free-air driver. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the rear deck and trunk space of most sedan type vehicles.

Sure. The amp is rated to provide 150 watts RMS x 2 at 4 Ohms and the subs are 4Ohms and rated to handle up to 150 watts each. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
What settings should I have on my amp and head unit when using this amp? I know this is all a matter of preference, but I want a smooth yet hard hitting thump that won't damage the speaker in any sort of way. I blew my last 12 cause I screwed with the settings, I want this one to be right.

I have my low pass filter set around 75hz on this sub and my amp gain a little past half. Subs will let you know when they are being driven past their design limit. First get everything else about your system dialed in before you even turn on the sub. Then find out how loud you can drive the system before it distorts. Next set your sub amp gain to zero, and turn it on. Then turn your head unit up to the loudest setting without clipping distortion, and adjust your sub gain to match. You will find there is a sweet spot where the sub will be thumping the hardest. If you continue past this point your sub will actually start to loose it's full thump. That's when you are beginning to overdrive it, and continuous overdriving will cause damage. Set it where the thump feels or sounds hardest and not beyond.

I have my amp gain at half give or take a little. On the head unit i have subwoofer output at about half give or take depends on type of music I'm listening to which is usually country so it's normally at half. Then on my bass level on the head unit it's between half an maxed out. I also have treble turn up above half to. But it's safe to say that most likely as long as you're amp is around half you shouldn't hurt the subwoofer no matter the settings on the head unit unless it's way over the power rating for the subwoofer it's self, it will just cause the cleanliness of the bass to not be as clean but do what I did play with it until it suits you with highs and lows, what size amp are u running and how big or small your box is will have a lot to do with the cleanliness of the sound also. Another thing I done was I doubled up my speaker wire so that the power would travel easier which might also help with cleanliness factor this is to be done from amp all the way to speakers not just to the box.

I looking in to a single 10c124 12" comp. I'm not shore what FREE Air is and if and how can it be done? I want to put in a jump cap truck but not loss space.
kurt  Oct 23, 2014

A
Free air means you can mount the sub woofer so that the magnet side is pointing out of the box. Most sub woofers require the pressure of being in a box to work properly, Free air ones do not.
