Big boom for the buck
Strong bass adds a whole new dimension to your car's sound system, and Kicker Comp subwoofers give you tremendous bass value for your dollar. You'll hear and feel the power of Kicker bass without feeling like your wallet just got thumped.

Easy to add to nearly any setup
Kicker's 10C12D4 12" subwoofer handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to connect to a mono amplifier. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications. An optional grille is available to protect your sub wherever it goes.

Kicker technology at work
This Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround helps to keep the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 150 and 300 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

This was the first big audio project I embarked on, and it was a doozy. I put a new head unit, two of these subs, a pioneer amp, two 6x9s and two 6-1/2s in my 1978 Ford LTD. It was a struggle doing it myself for the first time, but Crutchfield's Amazing support put up with all of my stupid questions and problems. The RCA cable I got was bad from the start and they replaced it for free with one of greater value. That really made them in my mind. But about the subs. They bump real, real hard. Even with only 100W on each, they can shake that big old car like a mother. Compared to friends who have subs, these are a little wompier. What I mean by that is they boom alot more than my buddies JBLs or my other buddies Pioneers. These Kickers are much louder and defined, and cut though better than the others, but they kinda fall off in conciseness. Some fast bass sounds can become muddy and unresponsive, but turning bass down on your equalizer will fix this. Overall, my friends and I are all in agreement that my system sounds the best, largely due to these subs. If you want something loud, powerful, and with a serous kick, I would get these.

Pros: Really well priced for what you get. I'm over $1000 bucks into my car, and anytime someone objects to that, I can honestly say that I sounds like 1 Grand worth of sound. They wiggle the heck out of my rearview mirror. They handle an insane amount of volume without sounding bad. I put in earplugs and earmuffs and really let my sound system crank, my mids and highs distorted around 90% of my pioneer head units max volume, but the subs sang clean the whole time.

Cons: They are a little too powerful for a 70's car. The whole trunk and back deck reverberate and make an awful sound if you give it any power. I fixed this my soundproofing and deadening with foam blocks cut to shape, and spare sheets I had sitting around. Once I fixed the car's design flaws, It sounded great. I really can't say much else bad about these. Maybe they can't handle really fast bass well, but turn bass boost off and that is fixed.

Subs pack a good punch, nice smooth low end. Sounds great even for a free air setup which I have. The Crutchfield customer service is the best I've dealt with. Quick to get back to you and helpful with any questions you have!

Pros: Great sounding and good looking sub!

Cons: I believe one of the two sets of terminals on one of my subs wasn't working, may look to see if something at the terminals came loose. But I'm using the other set of terminals and it's working great, so I'm happy.

The subs sounded good after I broke them in but I blew them after a week, Crutchfield quickly replaced them and made sure I was satisfied, after the second set I've had no issues so far, I think the first set was defective, I have them in a jeep wrangler and they still give a nice boom even with the top down.

Pros: Loud, even without the top on

Cons: First set was defective and I sent them back

I had infinity 10s in my dodge ram 1500 that I purchased from team Crutchfield 2 yrs ago. Wanted more. Called MY Crutchfield team and they had ALL the answers I needed. The subs hit real hard when needed and sound smooth for other styles of music. Team member never made me feel as if I was being rushed to get off the phone, Q&A to install the best way possible. Don't ever go anywhere else people. They are your team as we'll. THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!!

Pros: From ease of order to install to AWSOME sound. Would not change a thing. Could not be happier

Cons: None

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Ribbed Foam Surround: The optimized ribbed foam surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features durable Spiralead tinsel leads, which are woven into the woofer's progressive-roll polycotton spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features a resilient, steel basket with coil-cooling perimeter venting and a vented pole piece for heat dissipation, so the high-temperature voice coil stays cool.

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing well in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications also.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: A sealed enclosure design offers the smoothest response, with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 20 to 30 Hz).

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 1.25 cubic feet
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3.5 cubic feet

Recommended Vented Box Volume: A vented enclosure design is the choice for loud, high-performance bass and SPL contests.

  • Compact: 1.75 cubic feet with a 2" x 12.5" slot port opening that is 16" deep
  • SQ: 2.25 cubic feet with a 2" x 12.5" slot port opening that is 16.375" deep
Note: The SQ enclosures generate a flatter response curve and extend sub-bass response.

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofers are also designed to be used as free-air drivers. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the trunk of a sedan as the enclosure.
