Strong bass adds a whole new dimension to your car's sound system, and Kicker Comp subwoofers give you tremendous bass value for your dollar. You'll hear and feel the power of Kicker bass without feeling like your wallet just got thumped.

Kicker technology at work
Each Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround offers long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, while extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

8-ohm impedance for multi-sub setups
Kicker's 10C88 8" subwoofer handles 100 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its 8-ohm impedance makes it a great candidate for a multi-sub system. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

I have an Onkyo ht s3400 with a mediocre sounding subwoofer. I bought this to replace a home subwoofer and the Kicer 10c88 sounds amazing. There is absolutely no distortion at any volume, just clean, deep bass. This subwoofer puts out an incredible amount of bass for an 8 inch sub. Kicker makes some of the best speakers on the market hands down, especially for the price.

Pros: Good value, clean sound, quality construction, good reputation in the speaker industry

Cons: None

I just bought a used LS 430 thats in excellent shape but the 1st time I carnked up the stero my woofer went out. I went online and did some research and found the Kicker woofer I had to take the seats out the back to get to the speaker but it pop'd right and and once installed sounds excellent! I read the reviews and appreciate the honesty but the speaker itself is excellent and Crutchfield was helpful in asking my question and shipping it to me in a fewv days. I guess I'm not as technical as some of the comsumers on here because I don't under stand the ohm's and what not but I know my music and the streo in my Lexus jams!! I'd highly reccommend this speaker as a replacement.

Pros: Sounds great didn't take the guy very long to install it and I got it for a great price!

Cons: I had to have a professional install it but well worth it, you can't just pop the speaker out and put the new one in like we use to.

awesome sound for the price!

I was concerned that these subs would not be loud enough for my jeep, but I am very impressed with the sound! Loud, clear sound, and they hit hard for 8" subs. Very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend these to others - especially for the value.

Pros: Good sound and they seem to be pretty well constructed.

I was needing to replace the 8" woofer in some home in-wall speakers. These speakers were the right choice. The frequency range is far better than the originals. The original crossover network worked seemlessly with the new Kickers, the original Pyle drivers and cone tweeters. I would definately recommend these speakers for new or replacement applications. They really crank out the sound!

This Kicker sub kicks the factory Mark Levinson sub to the curb. This unit installs to the factory bracket with only some minor alterations easily accomplished with a Dremel or hacksaw. It sounds great and feels solid. An excellent alternative to fhe expensive factory sub.

Pros: Awesome sound and feels more powerful.

Cons: Now my trunk rattles when cranked :)

I bought this to replace a blown 6.5 Klipsch 2.0 PC Subwoofer Speaker System. I felt this was my best option being 8 ohm, and a 6.5 woofer were more expensive and less punchy. I drilled out the necessary space and it works flawlessly and very good bass for my Lanai. It really adds the bass this Klipsch system was needing. I plan on replacing my other two sets with this same woofer.

As an experiment I purchased a cheapie 2.1 amp with the intention of setting-up an economical 2.1 setup for home theater in my modest living room. I knew that amp wouldn't make a lot of power, so I chose this driver to pair with it, since it's rated at 100 Watts RMS. I'd already installed one of these Kicker Comp 8 8-Ohm's as a replacement sub in my (more powerful) Acoustic Authority 2.1 Computer Subwoofer system so I knew what kind of output they can do. (Yes you can actually make neighbors complain with these puppies) So anyway, I did some research and built a Quarter-Wave Transmission-Line enclosure for this subwoofer so I could squeeze the most output from the cheapie 2.1 amp. When I popped-in the movie Transformers... I couldn't wipe the stupid grin off my face! Even with such s tiny amp, and this sub, mounted in that T-Line box... I got CRAZY house-rumbling low-lows out of this thing!

The 10C88 sounds amazing, does not cause the LS430's OEM Mark Levinson amp to shut down, and delivers hard hitting notes without fluttering. The new sub mounted into the OEM stock mount fairly easily. I would vouch for the Kicker 10C88. It's well-constructed and provides the great OEM bass the Mark Levinson used to when it was new.

Crutchfield is also the place to order it, as I've ordered, received, and installed it within one week's time. Very satisfied.

Lexus LS430 OEM replacement

Written by: Bob from Ohio on February 7, 2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sub sounds as good as the original Mark Levinson sub. The ohm rating is lower than
the OEM 12 ohm, but is a close enough match for me. The lower ohm rating gives it just
a little more punch without being over the top. It gets deep enough for me and rounds
out the rest of the system nicely.

The install in this particular vehicle was a bit challenging, My LS430 has the Mark
Levinson stereo. The OEM sub had a metal surround that fit into a plastic mount of
sorts that bolted on to it (and then the plastic mount attached to the rear deck with 3
bolts. So with the extra plastic ring on this speaker I had to get a little creative in getting
that mount attached, but it all worked out fine.

These speakers are perfect for two reasons. Reason number one thier efficiency due to
the eight ohm configuration for multiple speaker and amplifier combinations and reason
number two the mounting possibilities are endless; in the rear deck, a sealed or ported
box, or even mouted to baffle board under the rear seat of an extended cab pickup truck.

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Polypropylene Cone: The Kicker Comp subwoofer's super-rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone features 360-degree back bracing to completely eliminate flex and distortion.

Ribbed Foam Surround: The optimized ribbed foam surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features durable Spiralead tinsel leads, which are woven into the woofer's progressive-roll polycotton spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The Kicker Comp subwoofer features a resilient, steel basket with coil-cooling perimeter venting and a vented pole piece for heat dissipation, so the high-temperature voice coil stays cool.

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications as well.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: A sealed enclosure design gives the smoothest response with increased energy at the lowest frequency between 20 to 30 Hz.

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.5 cu/ft
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 1.2 cu/ft

Recommended Vented Box Volume: A vented enclosure design is the choice for loud, high-performance bass for SPL contests.

  • Compact: 0.66 cu/ft with a 1.5" x 8" slot port opening that is 18" in depth
  • SQ: 1.2 cu/ft with a 1.5" x 8" slot port opening that is 12.25" in depth

Note: The SQ enclosures generates a flatter response curve and extends sub-bass response.

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofer does not require a sealed or vented enclosure for good bass performance. The Comp subwoofer is designed to also be used as a free-air driver. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the rear deck and trunk space of most sedan type vehicles.
