About the Kicker ZXRC Remote Bass Control

Buck Pomerantz
Kicker's ZXRC Remote Bass Control lets you adjust the level of your Kicker amplifier from the front seat, so you can keep the thumping under control, or turn it up to 11 when you want to show off. When you activate the amp's low-pass filter for a subwoofer, the ZXRC takes control over the the amp's volume, so you can make fingertip adjustments to your sub's level.

The ZXRC remote works with any Kicker IX, ZX, DX, or ZXM amplifier with a remote control jack. (Some of these already come with a ZXRC remote, so you can use this remote as a replacement for a lost or broken one.) The ZXRC will only control the rear channels of 4-channel amps.

Features

Overview: The ZXRC Remote Bass Control allows you to control the bass output level of the amplifier from the front of the vehicle. The crossover on your IX, ZX, DX, or ZXM amplifier must be set to low pass for the ZXRC to function. The ZXRC controls the AMP2 channel of 4-channel amplifiers. The wired remote comes with a bracket to mount it under the dash. The supplied 16' cable, with RJ-25 phone plugs at each end, connects the remote to the amplifier.

Note: The Remote Bass Control measures approximately 2-1/4" wide x 1-1/4" high x 1.75" deep (2-3/8" deep including the knob and wiring).

I looked for the model of the remote level control knob for the Riot 1100M amp, but wasn't able to find that listed in the manual for the amp. I recommend calling Boss on 800-999-1236 for help finding the model to get for your amp My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

Q
will this work with the kicker hideaway 11hs8 powered subwoofer?
vern  Mar 28, 2017

A
It doesn't look like the same kind of connection. The zxrc bass knob has a connection that looks like a telephone jack. The hidaway sub looks like a 3.5mm connection, judging just from the pics. If your hidaway sub does have the remote bass telephone jack input then this should work.

It's designed for kicker zx amps to adjust gain. Don't matter what sub or box is behind the amp. It is still controlling gain

Will this remote work with other non kicker amps? I have a JL JX250/1 amp with phone jack and would like to use this.

Per the interweb, it doesn't sound like this will work with other manufacturers. Heck, it only works with a few of the Kicker models:) The good news is that it looks like Crutchfield has what you need. Check out: JL Audio RBC-1 Remote bass control for JL Audio amps Item #: 136RBC1 $34.99 remote level control for mono JL Audio JX-Series amps (JX250.1, JX500.1, and JX1000.1)

I tried it on a phoenix gold and it worked just make sure your rj connection is compatible also I was told it also worked on a jbl amp as well. Hope this helps you out.

RJ-11 not Rj-45

Chances are that it will not work. I have the same controller and tried it on a non kicker amp and the wiring the RJ45 was different and caused an immediate feed back thorugh the system. I would venture to guess that Kicker wants there accessories to only work on Kicker.

Q
The description says it comes with a 16' cable with RJ-11 plugs on each end. 1) is the cable wired straight through (pin 1 to pin 1... pin 6 to pin 6)? 2) Can a regular phone cord be used? Thanks!

Not sure but I would think you could use reg phone cord and be fine. I will check it out and see but the only thing is can tell you is to try it out and see, It will either work or it won't.

Actually I have been doing some more digging and Kicker used to have this covered on their website (you can find it via archive dot com). Crutchfield won't let me post links but you can google for this text:10. I have two or more Kicker SX or KX subwoofer amplifiers. I don' t want to use all those separate bass level controls. Is there a way to make them all work with a single Kicker control knob? Yes. You can visit your local electronics or home improvement store and purchase an RJ-11 modular adapter. You then plug the sub level cables from the individual amplifiers into the adapter. Then run a cable from the adapter to a single Kicker remote knob. All amps will now work with a single knob.

Hello! Do you know the pinout? RJ-11 plus are easy to attach and I want to make a custom length cord, I only need the pinout. This way I wont have to bunch up extra cord somewhere and the install will look neater. Thanks!
bada  Jan 10, 2014
A
No it cannot. It has a different pin configuration.
