About the Kicker 11PES10C

John Pollard
Kicker has taken the idea of a powered subwoofer and turned it on its head. In the past, powered subwoofers have sacrificed performance in order to fit into a smaller space or or meet a lower price point. But now Kicker uses massive power and high-performance woofers so their PE SubStation™ line of powered subs can compete with custom systems built with separate amps, subs, and boxes, all while keeping the cost reasonable.

A powerful match
It can be tough matching subs, amps, and enclosures together. Kicker's taken the guesswork out of the process by creating the PES10C powered sub, matching a powerful 450-watt RMS amplifier with a 10" Solo Classic subwoofer, then housing them together in a sealed, compact box. This way, you won't have to waste time juggling specs — just focus on enjoying your bass.

Easy in, easy out
A quick-connect power harness and removable straps make it easy to pull this sub out of your vehicle, so you can get some storage space back in a pinch. The enclosure is only 8-1/2" deep so it'll fit in a variety of spaces, while the carpet covering will protect the enclosure and your vehicle against scratches and dents.

Installation note: If you're planning on using speaker-level outputs to connect the amp to the sub, Crutchfield recommends that you use this adapter which allows you to keep your amp's RCA jacks.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The SubStation PES10C is a sealed enclosure that houses a 10" Kicker Solo Classic subwoofer and a built-in class-D amplifier, outputting 450 watts RMS @ 14.4 volts.

Cone Material: The SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using polypropylene material that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. The cone remains rigid, minimizing cone flex and distortion.

Surround: The tough, flexible rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is tear-resistant. The surround is ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge, making separation between them virtually impossible, even in the harshest conditions.

Basket Assembly: The Solo Classic utilizes a high strength stamped steel basket which features a low-profile open design and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly.

Signal Input: The included signal input harness can be used with a speaker level or line level signal. The 10" harness is terminated with female RCA jacks. When using a speaker level input the RCA jacks can be cut off, or a speaker level to RCA adapter can be added (item number 206KiSL, sold separately).

Low Pass Crossover: The amplifier's low pass crossover point is continuously variable from 50 to 200 Hz; the crossover slope is 12 dB per octave.

Subsonic Filter: In addition to the low pass crossover, the PES10C features a 24 dB/octave subsonic filter fixed at 25 Hz. Ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by a subwoofer do not become sound, but unnecessary oscillations that cause distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can damage the speaker. The built-in subsonic filter removes the frequencies below 25 Hz to improve the sound quality by eliminating harmful distortion.

Bass Boost: The bass boost circuit provides a variable (0-18 dB) signal boost centered at 40 Hz.

Status Indicator Light: There is a status indicator LED on the control panel on the left side of the enclosure; it lights Blue to indicate that the amplifier is turned on and operating normally and lights Red to indicate the amplifier's protection circuitry has been activated.

Remote Bass Level Control: The included remote bass level control lets you adjust the output level of the amplifier from anywhere in the vehicle. A 20' cable is included and when it's plugged in, the gain control on the side of the enclosure is bypassed. The remote bass level control can be mounted under the dash with the included mounting hardware, it has the following dimensions:

  • Width: 2.215"
  • Height: 1.193"
  • Depth: 1.718" (3.076" including the knob and cable)

Controls: All the PES10C's controls and connections are located on the left side:

  • Auto Turn-On: three position switch; choose Remote (amp turns on when +12 volts is applied to the remote turn-on wire), DC Offset (amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected from a speaker-level source on the signal inputs; in this mode the amp's remote turn-on wire acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component), or Signal Sense (the amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected; in this mode the amp's remote terminal acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component)
  • Phase: two position switch, the sub's phase can be easily inverted; 0° or 180°
  • Input Level: two position switch; choose Hi when using a speaker level input, Lo when using a line level input
  • Gain: rotary knob; continuously variable from 125mV to 5V when the Input Level switch is set to Lo, 250mV-10V when the Input Level switch is set to Hi
  • X-Over Frequency: rotary knob; set the low pass x-over point; continuously variable from 50 Hz to 200 Hz
  • Bass Boost: rotary knob; continuously variable from 0 to +18 dB

Connections:

  • Remote Bass: 3.5mm mini-jack for use with the included remote bass level control
  • Fuses: two 15 amp ATO style fuses protect the amplifier
  • Signal Input: quick-connect jack for use with the included signal input harness
  • Power: quick-connect jack for use with the included power/ground/remote power plug:
    • Power: set screw terminal, up to 4 gauge wire
    • Ground: set screw terminal, up to 4 gauge wire
    • Remote: set screw terminal, up to 8 gauge wire

Yes it has an auto on function... it comes with a remote wire but I don't use mine...
stephen  Feb 12, 2017
A
It has an auto on function or you can use a remote wire. It also has a cool feature where if you use the auto on function that it puts power to the remote wire hook up at the sub so you can use that as a turn on signal for a different amps remote turn on

This baby rocks!! I purchased the one with the extra amp to power my factory speakers and i am more than pleased! Very clean but not over powering!

Yes, I have installed it under the back seat of a Nissan Titan. (2014) It fits perfect, can't be seen unless you tell someone or turn up the volume. This installation is under the seat (bench style) type for this truck. The sound quality sounds exceeds expectations. I don't even have it turn up at 90% to 100%. It's more like at 50%. Will this fit behind the rear seat in a 2007 Toyota Tacoma double can? Either driver or passenger side

A
it's just a matter of measuring the space that want to put it in and comparing that to the measurements of the subwoofer enclosure which is listed under "features and specs".
luis  Dec 31, 2015
A
I wouldn't know I do not own any Toyota truck. I know it does fit under the seat left or right (rear seat) of a 2014 Nissan Titan. It fits hidden away from passengers. The Kicker 11PES10C Sealed power is a great buy. If you want bass, buy this unit. You will not be disappointed. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. This sub gets 5***** rating !

Q
will this fit under dash and in the hole of a smart car passion 2008 ? thank greg
gregory  Nov 16, 2015
2 answers
A
The measurements can be found but under the dash of a Smart car seems very unlikely.
jason  Jan 08, 2016
A
We don't have any dimensions on file in our research for the space under the dash in your '08 Smart Passion, however we did measure the area available in the rear hatch as follows: Width (side to side) = 39", Height = 13", Depth (front to rear) = 18" at bottom, 13" at top. That would likely be the best place to mount this sub.

Q
Should the blue pwr/prt light stay on at all times when in DC Offset or Auto power modes even when the vehicle is off and parked? If not, why would mine be doing this? It lights up the interior of my truck at night while parked.
mike  Sep 26, 2015

A
No, it shouldn't be on at all times, only when there is power going to the subwoofer. Did you by chance wire it incorrectly to where it continuously draws power? With mine, the light always turns off when one of two situations happen: 1.) my car is off. and 2.) when the quick release relay for the power is disconnected. I honestly had someone install it for me. Hope this answers your question. Definitely check to ensure you're wired correctly at the connector to the amp, all the way back to the stereo head unit.

The blue light on mine turns off after I turn the key off and remove it, has since I installed it in my 2012 Silverado. Id imagine that it's wired wrong on the power side

Q
I noticed this does not have RCA inputs. My Alpine deck has RCA subwoofer outputs. I'm already using the other line outs for my door speakers. Is there an adapter? Would I be able to use this item?
graham  Mar 13, 2014

A
You can certainly use the RCA subwoofer output. Signal Input: The included signal input harness can be used with a speaker level or line level signal. The 10" harness is terminated with female RCA jacks (when using a speaker level input, the RCA jacks are cut off).

I have a 2011 v6 Mustang..seeking to add some serious bass/upgrade.Just to let you know that i still have my car audio system from the 1990's that used to be in my 91' Shadow. Jensen 6x9's in the rear,BP 5 1/4's front,1 Alpasonik 4 channel amp (50x4),& 2 bridge (400x2) into 2 12" Kicker Competition woofer in a sealed 2.75 box stuffed with polyester.Which would you choose..the 11PES10 or the 11PHD12 Dual ?? Which on do you think will hit harder?
jeffrey  Dec 16, 2013

This will depend on exactly what you are looking for. THe 11PES10 will provide more volume, but the 11PHD12 will provide deeper bass. For help in choosing the right gear for your system I would recommend contacting an Advisor by phone or online chat. They will be able to look at your current gear and help determine what will be the best match.
