About the Kicker 11DX600.5
Boost your music's power
Boost your music's power
For some people, great music is what makes life worth living. Kicker built their DX600.5 5-channel amp to send 40 watts RMS to your car's front and rear speakers plus up to 300 watts RMS to a sub, so you can feel the musical joy, too. You can also switch the amp into 3-channel mode to run a pair of high-performance components with 150 watts RMS of goodness each, while still driving a sub with 300 watts.
Plenty of control
The built-in high- and low-pass filters adjust the amp's output so your speakers and subs sound their best. The sub channel offers extra control over your bass, with a variable bass boost that lets you add just the right amount of bump and a subsonic filter that keeps inaudible low bass tones away, saving power.
Isolates and eliminates noise
You want lots of power for your speakers, but this Kicker DX amp gives you something extra — clean power. Kicker's FIT™ — Fail-Safe Integration Technology — rejects noise from alternators, audio/video gear, and other car electronics for crisp, clean operation, and accepts a wide range of signals so you can hook up the DX600.5 to almost any stereo.

Features
Multi-Channel Design: The DX600.5 is a 5-channel amplifier, basically two 2-channel Class AB amplifiers (Amp1/front and Amp2/rear) and a Class D mono subwoofer amplifier built into one chassis. Either of the 2-channel sections can be bridged, so the DX600.5 can be used as a 5-channel, 4-channel, or 3-channel amplifier.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The Kicker DX600.5's power and signal to noise ratio are measured according to CEA 2006 standards (Consumer Electronics Association). These standards allow you to accurately compare the specifications of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they are different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging.
Power Output:
- 4-Channel (CEA 2006 Compliant): 40 watts RMS x 4 channel into 4 ohms (20-20,000 Hz, <1% THD+N, 14.4 volt power supply)
- 4-Channel (2-ohm): 75 watts RMS x 4 channels (20-20,000 Hz, <1% THD+N, 14.4 volt power supply)
- Bridged (4-ohm): 150 watts RMS x 2 channels (20-20,000 Hz, <1% THD+N, 14.4 volt power supply)
- Subwoofer Channel (CEA 2006 Compliant): 150 watts RMS x 1 channel (25-200 Hz, <1.5% THD+N, 14.4 volt power supply)
- Subwoofer Channel (2-ohm): 300 watts RMS x 1 channel (25-200 Hz, <1.5% THD+N, 14.4 volt power supply)
Signal to Noise Ratio: While the CEA 2006 S/N is 85 dB for the full range amps and 80 dB for the subwoofer amp (measured at 1 watt), the S/N at rated power is >95 dB.
Kicker Livin' Loud Certified Power: The amplifier comes with a certificate that indicates the total maximum wattage of the particular amplifier, along with the model number, serial number, tested date, and whether the amplifier passed the total harmonic distortion, signal-to-noise ratio, and protection circuit tests.
Protection Circuitry: The DX600.5 has protection circuitry that will turn the amp off in the event of overheating, over voltage (power input), under voltage (power input), short circuit (speaker output), and over current (speaker output). If the Protection LED on the left side of the amp illuminates red, the protection circuit has engaged and the amp will not play until the problem is resolved.
Fail-Safe Integration Technology (FIT): To accommodate the varying range of signal levels coming from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the DX600.5 utilizes Fail-Safe Integration Technology (FIT), offering isolated differential inputs for significant noise reduction, and compatibility with virtually any factory radio.
Speaker Level Input: High level inputs can be used when the source device doesn't have preamp level outputs. The same RCA inputs on the amp are used for either speaker level or line level connections. When a speaker level signal is used, speaker wire to RCA adapters are needed (item number 20609ZISL, sold separately) and the Input Level should be set to High.
Subsonic Filter: The subwoofer amplifier features a a 24 dB/octave subsonic filter fixed at 25 Hz. Ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by a subwoofer do not become sound, but unnecessary oscillations which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. The built-in subsonic filter cuts the frequencies below 25 Hz to improve the performance of the speakers by eliminating harmful distortion.
ZXRC Remote Bass Control: The DX600.5 comes with the ZXRC Remote Bass Control, which allows you to control the output level of the subwoofer amplifier from the front of the vehicle. The wired remote comes with a bracket to mount it under the dash. The supplied 18' cable, with RJ-25 phone plugs at each end, connects the wired remote bass level control to the amplifier.
Note: The Remote Bass Control measures approximately 2-1/4" wide x 1-1/4" high x 1.75" deep (2-3/8" deep including the knob and wiring).
Controls
Gain Control: The front, rear, and subwoofer sections of the amp have independent input gain controls. With the Input Level Control switch at the appropriate setting, you can set the rotary Gain Control to match the output of the source unit. The Gain Controls are adjusted with a flat-head screwdriver and can be set between 0 and 11.
Input Level: The input level control is switchable; when set to Low, the amp can accommodate a line level input signal of 125mV-5V, on High, the amp will accept a 250mV-10V speaker level signal.
Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:
- +12 V: the amp turns on when +12 volts is applied to the remote terminal
- DC Offset: the amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker level source); in this mode the amp's remote terminal acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component
- Audio: the amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected; in this mode the amp's remote terminal acts as a +12 volt output to turn on another component
Crossover: The front, rear, and subwoofer channels have independent crossover settings. The front and rear channel crossovers can be set for high-pass or full-range operation. The subwoofer channel's low-pass crossover is always active. The variable crossover points can be independently set between 50 and 200 Hz. The slope is 12 dB per octave for the high-pass crossovers, while the subwoofer's crossover slope is 24dB per octave.
KICKEQ Bass Boost: The subwoofer channel has a bass boost circuit that provides a variable (0-12 dB) signal boost at 40 Hz.
Fader: When you are running two or more sets of inputs to the amplifier, the Fader switch should be placed in On position, to allow your source unit to fade between the front and rear channels. If you want to drive all of the speakers with one set of inputs (Amp1), the Fader switch should be in the Off position.
Sub Input: If you are using a dedicated output on your source unit for the subwoofer, it should be connected to the RCA inputs marked Sub, and the Sub Input switch should be set to Sub. If there is no dedicated subwoofer input, the Sub Input switch should be set to the Amp2 position, and the audio fed to the rear channels will automatically be fed to the subwoofer channel as well.

Great amp. Clear sound no matter how loud I turn it up. Crutchfield did all the work with their research which made my purchase a no brainier. Will use them again in the future.
