Kicker builds the Solo-Baric L7 component subwoofer to deliver state-of-the-art bass. An ultra-rigid cast aluminum basket houses the patented SoloKon™ one-piece square cone to create a speaker that moves lots more air than a comparably sized round sub. The precision-built motor structure won't yield to stress, giving you chest-thumping low end that won't quit when you push your system hard.
The Solo-Baric L7 Series 11S10L74 10" subwoofer features an injection-molded polypropylene cone that works with a tough Santoprene™ rubber surround to dish out monster bass in a sealed or ported enclosure. Its unusual shape and black finish make a strong style statement, and you can add an optional grille to further enhances its looks. This sub packs dual high-temperature 4-ohm voice coils, giving you the flexibility to build a multiple sub setup or to draw more power from your amp with a low-impedance load.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 450 and 900 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

Kicker L 7
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Ease of Use
We ll I've had my L7's four a little over a year now and there are no complaints I am using all kicker products because I have it in a charger srt8 that came with the premium sound system which was kicker so I just upgraded all the speakers and the amps and I did not upgrade the amp enough or I would probably have been better served using a separate amp for the L7 instead I used a 5 channel kicker amp probably because I needed to save the space and I wanted to keep it close to factory so I'm not getting the best performance out of my L7's but I have installed a L 7 in another person's car that used to separate amp and all I can say is impressive. and just like an earlier review from a guy that had an L7 and switched over to the Alpine R Series subs they ain't no joke either I got one of those in another car a 2003 deville and using that R sub as free air standing sub and it is nothing but the truth.
SPL for life.
Ease of Use
This is a pretty good SPL subwoofer with a very good build quality. I purchased a pair between 8 & 10 years ago and they are still in perfect working very loud condition. They call for 600 watts RMS each and for thefirst few years i had between 650 & 700 watts RMS running to them and then switched to 450 watts RMS and they still were pretty loud. I later purchased a 15" but had mixed reviews. Something wasn't quite right about the setup so I sold it. I decided I was more of an SQL man focusing more on SQ so I switched to Alpine type R subs and absolutely loved them even though I had them underpowered. Great sound and loud bang.
Pros: Loud and strong. Look good.
Cons: Lack a bit on Sound Quality
Kicker L7 Outrageous
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Ease of Use
Outrageous sound levels mated to Kicker 1000 watt mono amp. Remote volume control makes this easy to get desired levels for different kinds of music. Can be heard two city blocks away when cranked up. Great addition to my new SS/RS Camaro.
Pros: Very tight and clean bass. Hair raising volume from a single speaker. Easy installation with matched components. Will make you like your car a lot more then you already do.

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2 ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8 ohm load.
Square Design: By making the Solo-Baric square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the Solo-Baric L7 moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.
Cone Material: The square SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using polypropylene material that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. The cone remains rigid, minimizing cone flex and distortion. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.
Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is highly tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge, making separation between them virtually impossible, even in the harshest conditions.
Spider: The woofer is equipped with a wide poly-cotton spider which easily handles high cone excursions due to its increased diameter and unique shape.
Enhanced BAM (Basket And Motor) Assembly: The Solo-Baric L7 utilizes a high strength stamped steel basket which features a low-profile open design and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting in the BAM relieves pressure from under the spider, supports linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.
Voice Coils: The dual ultra length voice coils sustain enormous cone excursion and provide flexible impedance matching options. The high-temperature Polyimide Film Voice Coil former improves sonic and conducive properties, and prevents thermal-electrical meltdown. The voice coils are rated to 220° Celsius.
UniPlate Construction: The Solo-Baric L7 features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented hyper-extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:
- Optimizes heat transfer efficiency for cooler operation and maximum power handling capability
- Eliminates erratic magnetic flux from the voice coil gap
- Releases pressure under the suspension for uniform cone movement and responsive low bass
- Prevents the voice coil from bottoming out and the corresponding damage
Tinsel Lead Wires: The sleeved, high-power tinsel lead wires eliminate broken leads and power loss, due to the common use of insufficient gauge lead wires. The lead wires are terminated with multiple polymer-based strain relieving mechanical fasteners.
Speaker Terminals: The terminals are spring loaded and nickel plated for solid connections with speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Solo-Baric L7 woofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.
Recommended Sealed Box Volume:
- Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 1.0 cubic feet
- SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 1.25 cubic feet
Recommended Vented Box Volume:
- Compact: 1.25 cubic feet; 2.5" x 11.25" port opening; 19.75" port length
- SQ: 2.25 cubic feet; 3" x 11.25" port opening; 18" port length
Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 9.275" x 9.275" square opening.

Why did you buy this?
I had a solo baric when they first came out, the L5 model and it hit pretty hard. Not too anal about SQ because I just build a sealed box, but SPL is more this sub's forte. It was also easier for me to cutout the hole for the sub because of the straight edges hehe [ Mark Jan 18, 2016 ]
2 questions already asked
If you have a pair of L7 and there not sounding correctly, then you've installed them incorrectly. You really can't mess up with an L7 subwoofer, except for giving it too little power, which is a waste of time. Too answer your question us the (JL audio 1000 V2) and place the system "Q" to mid-band with the crossover roll-off @ 55hz, I assure you'll be impressed! [ CARLFRED A Feb 03, 2014 ]
