Kicker builds the Solo-Baric L7 component subwoofer to deliver state-of-the-art bass. An ultra-rigid cast aluminum basket houses the patented SoloKon™ one-piece square cone to create a speaker that moves lots more air than a comparably sized round sub. The precision-built motor structure won't yield to stress, giving you chest-thumping low end that won't quit when you push your system hard.
The Solo-Baric L7 Series 11S12L74 12" subwoofer features an injection-molded polypropylene cone that works with a tough Santoprene™ rubber surround to dish out monster bass in a sealed or ported enclosure. Its unusual shape and black finish make a strong style statement, and you can add an optional grille to further enhances its looks. This sub packs dual high-temperature 4-ohm voice coils, giving you the flexibility to build a multiple sub setup or to draw more power from your amp with a low-impedance load.
Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 575 and 1125 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
Right away when I unboxed this sub, I loved it! Not only does it sound great, but it looks great too. I also bought a box with the sub and it fit perfectly! All around a great sub. It's reliable and I recommend it for anyone!
L7 rocks 4 ohm, with that Memphis 1100 mono block amp, L7 wired series its a beast
Pros: All it takes is 1 speaker, hot amp and yo bang ready for da streets
Cons: the price is steep but you get the bang for yo bucks
Put in my order was at my house in 4 days got it in and the thing pounds like no other 12" sub dose would highly recommend it for any set up I put it in a ported box on a 450 watt mono box amp but I would recommend going with a bigger amp lot more potential there then what I have given it
Pros: Looks awesome sounds awesome
Cons: price is a lil steep for just a single sub
Besides the fact that this thing is built like a tank and consumes mass amounts of power, I have no complaints.....oh, an those things I stated are not even complaints, but rather just some of the facts! Lol! Make sure your amp & system are wired & ready to feed this hungry little monster!
Pros: Durable, capable of handling some serious power, small enclosure capable increasing flexibility in box desigin and positioning.
Cons: Needs an extremly stable power supply. Ie; serious amplifier & wiring to feed said amplifier.....additional battery and/or power cap recomended??
I have two L7 12" dual 2 in factory box with side port in my Cadillac brougham 1991 and I promise you wont find a better low bass sub ...I have it currently running on a kicker zx1500 and waiting on my mtx te4001d amp to come out of repair it realllly makes these beat low hard and loud moves lots of air and everyone swears I have 15"s or 4-12" subs lol
Pros: Owning them
Cons: If u dont own them
this sub was meant for one thing only,! deep bass! i only have a 200 watt class d mtx amp pushing it and it slams. can hear me coming two blocks away. bout to upgrade to a rockford 750.1 amp. and then its really gonna be beast. it only go up to 100hz so the higher bass notes it wont hit, but who cares. the low lows are what you want if you want to be felt and heard!! the price is a lil steep!
Pros: reliability, durability, build quality.
Woofer is great! Sounds a whole lot better now that I upgraded my amp and got an extra battery.
I had a custom-made box by a local shop that deals with supercars also. But it is no match against JL audio sub that was in a Bentley. Hands down, you can hear the big difference. Sorry that I dropped a lot of money for this square thing. If it looks like a square, then it will sound as square as it can be...
Pros: different looking
Cons: I you love your ride. Find other subs that will make you love your ride more...
This sub just doesn't cut it when it comes to sound quality. I really tried to liked the sub and spent hours trying to tune it to my liking. Don't get me wrong this thing thumps but it sounds awful. The square cone pushes more air but isn't as responsive as a 12 inch round sub. So if youre into dubstep and other terrible music then this will be fine for you, but if you want clear precise bass this isnt what you want. I'm going back to my JL's, I dont care if theyre "overpriced" the sound quality cant be matched.
Pros: sound pressure
Cons: sound quality

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 4 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 2 ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents an 8 ohm load.
Square Design: By making the Solo-Baric square, Kicker is giving you the most possible cone area (Sd) for a given size baffle, 16% to 20% more area than a conventional round subwoofer. More cone area means the Solo-Baric L7 moves more air, resulting in louder, deeper bass.
Cone Material: The square SoloKon design is a unique one-piece construction, using polypropylene material that moves as a lightweight piston, for improved control. The cone remains rigid, minimizing cone flex and distortion. A rear cone brace integrates into the cone with a continuous contact perimeter weld, which improves strength and resistance to deformation under pressure.
Surround: The tough, flexible Santoprene rubber surround has a long-throw, positive-roll design, which controls extreme cone excursion and is highly tear-resistant. The corners of the surround are ribbed to ensure linear cone motion. The surround is stitched to the reinforced cone edge, making separation between them virtually impossible, even in the harshest conditions.
Spider: The woofer is equipped with a wide poly-cotton spider which easily handles high cone excursions due to its increased diameter and unique shape.
Enhanced BAM (Basket And Motor) Assembly: The Solo-Baric L7 utilizes a high strength stamped steel basket which features a low-profile open design and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting in the BAM relieves pressure from under the spider, supports linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.
Voice Coils: The dual ultra length voice coils sustain enormous cone excursion and provide flexible impedance matching options. The high-temperature Polyimide Film Voice Coil former improves sonic and conducive properties, and prevents thermal-electrical meltdown. The voice coils are rated to 220° Celsius.
UniPlate Construction: The Solo-Baric L7 features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented hyper-extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:
Tinsel Lead Wires: The sleeved, high-power tinsel lead wires eliminate broken leads and power loss, due to the common use of insufficient gauge lead wires. The lead wires are terminated with multiple polymer-based strain relieving mechanical fasteners.
Speaker Terminals: The terminals are spring loaded and nickel plated for solid connections with speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Solo-Baric L7 woofers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speakers very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Cutout: The woofer will not mount in a standard enclosure with a round cutout. Instead, the woofer must be mounted in an enclosure with a 11.048" x 11.048" square opening.
