Power for your bass

Leave it to Kicker to come up with this bantam heavyweight. The CX600.1 amplifier delivers up to 600 watts RMS to your subwoofer from a 7" x 8" chassis that'll fit almost anywhere. And they don't cut any corners building this amp, using oversized transistors, special transformers, and a heavy-duty heat sink to bring you awesome power that won't fade when you push your system hard.

Control over your bass

Kicker includes a low-pass filter to keep high frequencies away from your sub, a fixed subsonic filter that protects your sub from inaudible, power-devouring ultra-low frequencies, and a variable bass boost that allows you to add some kick to the mix. An optional wired remote bass level controller is available so you can crank the bass up or down from the front seat.

Vertical mounting

Includes hardware for vertical mounting

Hooks in almost anywhere in almost any position

Kicker uses their Fail-Safe Integration Technology (FIT™) to keep this amp's input free from noise or interference, so you'll get a clean signal from almost any system, even a factory radio. Rugged metal end panels provide even more shielding from radiated interference. The CX600.1 also comes with hardware that lets you mount it vertically, so it'll take up very little floor space and look ultra-cool.

Putting together a bass system with this amp? Check out these Crutchfield-approved 8" sub, 10" sub, and 12" sub bass packages.

My system has plenty of power. Who needs an amp?

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.

Little amp packs a big punch. Running one 10" swt alpine in my crew cab truck. More than enough bass that hits hard. Def reccomend this.

Pros: Small. Lots of power if you're running a single sub.

I love music in the vehicle with this amp in the arsenal it lives up to the expectations. I would give this product 10 stars if I could. Great amp I really like the quality of sound it produces and the size is perfect. Smaller than I thought, however, that was a major plus. I would recommend this amp for all music lover.

I went with this amp for two reasons. 1. Compact, 600+ watts in a small package. 2. Price, under $200. I am satisfied with it, but don't expect too much, You get what you pay for.

Pros: Size, price

Cons: Not a top of the line amp.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this amp. I bought this after attempting to buy used equipment on craigslist, and nothing worked out. I have had it for about a month now. This amp has a great warranty. It is small, powerful, and sexy. Easy to set up using 4 gauge power wire. Used a DMM to tune the gain, and it stays put perfectly. This combined with 2 12" kicker subs is amazing! My rear view mirror is useless now, it just gets shaken down within seconds LOL. Great quality sound, great bass, great everything. For sure recommend this amp.

Pros: Small, powerful, sexy, upright mounting, warranty.

Cons: None at all.

Perfect Amp

Written by: Adolfo B from Maryland on July 21, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When this amp arrived, I was surprised to see how small it actually was. But it has a lot of power! I matched this amp with Kicker's dual 10 inch CompS subs and together they work perfectly. I couldn't be happier with this amp. I attached it to the top of my sub right next to my 4-channel amp. This amp was easy for me to install (partially because I already had an amp in my trunk) and did not heat up very much after an hour of use or so in the beginning of July.

Pros: size excellent build quality plenty of power does not overheat easily

This is a high quality, user friendly, dependable amp with heavy duty connection posts. This amp is small in size, but big in power so it's ideal for areas with little room to work with. I always feel confident when purchasing kicker products because they stand tough when put to the test, Very nice amp that's well worth the money.

Pros: The amp comes with an instruction manual and an Allen key wrench for making your connections

Big Power--Small Package

Written by: J_tosti from Indiana on December 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To be honest, I had some reservations regarding Kicker's CX line of amplifiers. However, after having experiences with two (2) of their models, I must say I am very impressed with the quality, design, and performance of this product. Regarding power: This amplifier is advertised as producing 600 watts x 1 at 2 ohms. Upon delivery, the final product quality certificate confirms that this power is achieved plus some. Regarding features: Nothing really special. You will find typical features such as gain, frequency, bass boost, and hi/lo pass; however, for the type of amplifier this is, I wouldn't expect much more. Amplifier adjustments are simple and directions are intuitive. Very nice amplifier at a nice price point.

Pros: Powerful, Efficient, Small Footprint, Option for remote bass control available.

Cons: None at this time.

This amp was recommended by my Crutchfield technician, and I must say I was alittle skeptical that an amp rated at this output and at this cost could really be as good as advertised. Well let me say I am extremely happy with the clean, crisp lows this amp is providing my 2 12in JL W0's. The footprint is tiny and can be mounted dang near anywhere I wanted. Does not get that hot either! Overall bang for the buck?? 10/10

Pros: Plenty of wattage, small size, ease of adjustments

This amp brings out all the bass needed for both my 10" JL subs. The bass is so clean and clear. This amp has the option for me to install a volume knob. When i have people in the car I bring it down or just all the way down so it doesnt bother people. I love that. The amp itself is so small and I can fit it just about anywhere i like. I love it. Worth every penny.

This amp is great as far as size and power. I purchased it to install in my 2003 wrangler. This amp has brackets that allow you to install standing up on its side which is perfect because I selected the space inside the center console where the factory amp and sub lived prior to upgrade. The amp is pushing two SVC 4 ohm kicker subs that I ran in parallel for a 2 ohm load and the amp is perfectly suited. I ran 4 gauge wire for power and ground so the amp gets all the power it needs and did not get hot at all during the tuning process. The jeeps like mine that were equipped with factory sub and amp have a slotted hole where the sub fired out that also should help keep the amp cool.

Pros: Size is great, power is awesome, and the ability to mount standing on its side makes more install options possible. Not to mention the competitive pricing and kicker quality.

Cons: None yet

This is my first Class D amp. I am pushing two Kicker 10" DVC's, with them set to 1 ohm resistance and wired in serial to the amp. It is such an improvement from my last amp, which was rated at 850 Watts RMS. Well worth the price for this amp if you want to hear clean, powerful bass.

Pros: Lots of Power. Small Footprint. Easy to set up.

Cons: None that I have found.

very good affordable product great value

I got this amp to replace a blown jbl amp. It's powering two Boston G2 10s in a custom box. And gives all the power i need! Installed in a BMW 323I E46, absolutely pushes these high quality subs perfectly!! Great amp for the price. Easy to install, and also running a avh-x7500bt, and they compliment each other great!

Pros: Price, dependability, power, ease of install, i like the fact you do not need a LOC if you want to use the amp with a factory radio. The yellow line is a great value from Kicker!!!

Cons: Not many cons at all with this Amp after 3 months of being used. May have some complaints in the future. I will just have to wait and see.

Big boom for the buck

Written by: ptk61 from Skiatook, OK on December 26, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was my first foray into installing a power/sub amp in a vehicle, so I'm writing this from the perspective of someone who felt his way through the install. To someone new to car amp installs I would offer this advice: buy the Kicker PK4 wiring kit to go with the amp if you don't know what size wire or what the amperage of the fuse should be. There are plenty of good vids on a Kicker amp install, please watch at least one comprehensive one before starting out on your install if you are new to this.

I bolted the amp to the passenger seat back in my '07 Corvette and ran the cables along the passenger door panel. The amp is connected to a Polk Audio DXi104 10" subwoofer and even at low power the amp will really move the speaker. It sounds great and provides the bottom end depth that the miserable 2 ohm factory mid-bass units in the doors lack (and which are nearly impossible to replace). Although I'm impressed, this is the first car sub amp I've ever owned so I have nothing to compare it to.

Pros: plenty of power, multiple mount options

Cons: The volume and adjustment knobs on the amp don't have a detent you can put a screwdriver in so you can adjust them easily. I don't care for the mash-down connectors for amp power/ground/speaker outs.

Features

Gain: The rotary gain control is continuously variable from 125 mV to 5 V when the Input Sensitivity switch is set to Low and 250 mV to 10 V when the Input Sensitivity switch is set to High.

Input Level Switch: Set the input level switch to Lo when using a preamp level input signal and Hi when using a speaker level input signal.

Crossover: The crossover is always engaged (cannot be bypassed). The crossover point is continuously variable from 50 to 200 Hz and the slope is 12 dB per octave.

Subsonic Filter: The subsonic filter is fixed at 25 Hz and 24 dB per octave.

Auto Turn-on: The amp offers two automatic turn-on modes:

  • +12V: connect a wire from the remote turn-on lead from your source unit to the REM terminal on the amplifier; this is the preferred turn-on method
  • DC Offset: turns the amp on when a 6-volt DC offset is detected at the high-level speaker inputs when the source unit is turned on

Bass Boost: The bass boost circuit is continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB and centered at 40 Hz.

CXRC Remote Bass Control: The bass output level can be controlled remotely using an optional wired remote bass control (item number 20612CXRC, sold separately).

Vertical Mounting: The amp can be mounted vertically using the included brackets. The vertical dimensions are approximately:

  • Width: 9"
  • Height: 7-1/4"
  • Depth: 2-3/8"

Signal to Noise Ratio: The S/N under CEA-2006 compliant conditions (1 watt output) is 75 dBA. The S/N at rated power is 95 dB.

Connections

Left Side of Amplifier:

  • +12V (power): set screw terminal; will accept bare wire up to 4-gauge
  • REM (remote turn-on): set screw terminal; will accept bare wire up to 8-gauge
  • GND (ground): set screw terminal; will accept bare wire up to 4-gauge
  • Speaker Outputs: terminal strip with two pair of subwoofer outputs; the two outputs are internally shorted together, making it easy to wire two subwoofers; accepts spade connectors up to 0.325" wide
Note: The Amplifier is not equipped with an internal fuse. An external 80-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If the system has only this amp and a wiring kit is used that includes a fuse with a value other than 80-amps, the original should be replaced with an 80-amp fuse.

Right Side of Amplifier:

  • RCA Input: one pair of stereo RCA input jacks; also used for speaker level input (item number 206KiSL needed, sold separately)
  • RCA Output: one pair of stereo RCA output jacks; line level output when using either preamp or speaker level inputs
  • Remote Bass: 3.5mm mini-jack for use with the optional CXRC wired remote bass level control

Amp Wiring Kit: Kicker recommends using a 4-gauge wiring kit with this amplifier.

7 questions already asked

Definitley...I have this amp hooked up to my JL Audio CP212-W0v3 subs and it's amplifies the sound more than you'll ever need for casual use. I would also recommend the Kicker 12CXRC remorte bass control. [ David  Feb 09, 2016 ]
Yes this will be plenty of power. I have 2 10" JL Audio's In my 04 350z. I have had this amp for over a year and half and I have loved it! No complaints with it at all. Great amp. [ Cody Ellis  Feb 09, 2016 ]
Yes. I have had this amp on an L7 12" kicker. Pushed it very nicely. [ Phillip  Feb 09, 2016 ]
This amp has 4 channels for full range or mid-bass - each of which will take a 4-ohm load, and one 2-ohm sub channel, so you can wire both 12" in parallel by wiring both positive terminals on the subs to the + out on the sub channel out, and likewise for the negative terminals. That would give you two subs with a 4 ohm load on the amp. If the subs have dual 8-ohm voice coils you could bridge them both and end up with a 2 ohm load on the amp, which it will handle. Plenty of wiring diagrams will show you how to do this. I don't know enough to tell you why the protection light is on. I'd need to know what else is wired to it. This amp requires 4-guage wire run from the battery with an 80-amp in line fuse 18" from the battery terminal, and the ground wired to the frame. The amp may be sensing it isn't wired properly or grounded properly. You have to take care of that problem first, or rule it out as being the problem. [ P T  Dec 28, 2014 ]
If they are 8 ohm you would need to hook them up in parallel to drop the rating to 4 ohm. The amp should work at 4 ohm If the sub has one set of connections try wiring like this Positive from amp to positive of both subs negative from amp to negative of both subs [ GREG  Dec 27, 2014 ]
It is possible to wire those subs to this amp. To answer your question with the protection light check your fuse in the amp it might be blown. If the fuse is fine make sure your power wire is not grounding out on any surfaces and make sure you have a proper ground if the ground is not correct or the power wire is grounding itself out the amp can go into protection mode to save itself. and in one case i have seen the amp stay in protection mode and never come out with could be an internal circuit has been fried. make sure you dont have the gain cranked turn all your setting down and don't have any subs connected while trouble shooting this issue. [ SEAN  Dec 27, 2014 ]
I really can't say without knowing the information on the speakers. Sorry [ ADRIEN L  Dec 27, 2014 ]
This amp is not equipped with an internal fuse. An 80A inline fuse is recommended. By the way, this thing powers my 1200 watt kicker sub fantastically! What a great combo. [ DILLON  Sep 29, 2014 ]
Some where along your run the ground wire or power wire are grounding the unit out improperly. you might also want to check the fuses to see if there blown. or if the gound wire is not pushed in all the way and is touch the power wire its sending the unit into protection mode. [ SEAN  Sep 23, 2014 ]
I can't give you anything but guesses, but if the protection circuit is on and there is no power indicator light the first thing to check is that you have correct voltage to the amp. This amp requires 4 gauge wire run from the battery with an 80-amp fuse in line on the positive lead within 18 inches from the battery. So that lead runs from the battery positive terminal and the negative grounded to the frame and both run through the firewall to wherever you installed the amp inside the car. I read posts of other people with the same problem that changed out the amp but that did not help them as the issue persisted. If it's hooked up correctly then the next thing to do is take it to a car audio installer. [ P T  Sep 21, 2014 ]
Gain [ MICHAEL P  Aug 10, 2014 ]
Controls the BOOST [ RICKY A  Aug 09, 2014 ]
Gain [ SAMUEL  Aug 09, 2014 ]
Yes it controls the bass boost. Bass is either too low or not enough without it. I suggest getting it as the bass needs adjusted all the time depending on the song and type of music. [ TRAVIS J  Aug 09, 2014 ]
Yes. The amp has two pairs of speaker outputs. You can bridge the amp and drive one 2ohm sub, or you can use all of the outputs and drive 2 4ohm subs. [ P T  May 14, 2014 ]
Yes [ ALEXANDER  May 13, 2014 ]
Yes. That's exactly what I have running mine. [ AARON  May 13, 2014 ]
Depending on ohm, and output I would say probably yes [ MICHAEL P  May 13, 2014 ]
Yes, I have two 12" subs hooked up currently [ JUSTIN  May 12, 2014 ]
What kind of subs? I have two kicker comp d 12" hooked up and they are pretty loud. [ JACOB  May 12, 2014 ]
Yes... No problem. I have the amp running 2 10" Kickers & they hit great!! [ THOMAS  May 12, 2014 ]
It depends on the watts of the subs, if each sub is 300 watts you should be ok, this amp is rated for 600 watts peak. Personally I use this amp to power one 12in apline type s which has 500 watts so I'm never peaking the amp. [ SCOTT  May 12, 2014 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Jan 21, 2014 ]  Staff
