About the Kicker PS42

Jon Paul

Powerful speakers for powersports vehicles

Kicker developed their PS42 speakers with powersports enthusiasts in mind, so they're lightweight, durable, and ideal for most motorcycles, ATVs, and marine applications. With rugged components and weather-resistant materials, these 2-ohm speakers (a 4-ohm version is also available) will last a long, long time, no matter where you use them. And your battery will last a long time too, thanks to a high-efficiency design that allows maximum volume with less current draw on your system.

Kicker suspends the 3/4" titanium dome tweeter above the woofer, allowing the polypropylene cone to move freely for more bass. The low-impedance design of these speakers allows them to deliver more output, so you get more performance from your radio or amplifier.

Low weight, high performance

Each PS42 features a motor structure built around a powerful, yet extremely light, neodymium magnet, so they weigh in at less than 12 ounces per speaker — incredibly light for speakers with this kind of performance. That makes them ideal for motorcycles, where keeping a low center of gravity is essential. They're great for any bike, but they're a perfect fit for the fairing and rear seat cutouts on a Honda Gold Wing. They'll also fit into Kicker 4" KM-Series enclosures (sold separately), which fasten to handlebars, Bimini tops, or golf cart roof supports.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The Kicker PS4 (PowerSports Series) is designed as a drop-in replacement for the factory speakers in select Honda Gold Wing fairing and rear-seat cutouts. The weather-proof drivers can also be used in other motorcycle, ATV, marine, or outdoor applications. Kicker also makes compatible 4-inch empty bullet enclosures (item number 20640KMTES, sold separately). An adapter is included to mount the speakers in slightly larger locations (fills a 4.685" diameter opening).

Neodymium: A neodymium magnet provides approximately 10x the magnetic field strength of a standard ceramic magnet of the same weight, providing a strong motor structure with very light weight. The light speakers (approximately 11.9 ounces each) have little effect on a motorcycle's center of gravity.

Tweeter: The 3/4" neo-titanium dome tweeter is bridge-mounted, suspended over the center of the woofer cone and designed to withstand the extreme vibration encountered in the motorcycle/ATV environment.

Note: The tweeter bridge structure looks like a spoke grille and cannot be removed.
