Kicker Magnet

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC354 3-1/2" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeters while sending the mid-range and lows to the 3-1/2" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC354's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 3-1/2" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI domed tweeter
  • power range: 2-20 watts RMS (80 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 80-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 88 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-11/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles not included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Great Speakers!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

these speakers where a snap to install, especially with the speaker wire adapters! these speakers added some really good high end sound, which helps to clear up voices. Although as you might expect they are not made for bass.

Overall taking into account the price, ease of install, and quality these are a 10/10!!!

Pros: Cheap, easy install, good quality sound

Cons: none!!

A very suitable upgrade from factory speakers. Substantially better sound quality and bass than the original factory speakers.

Pros: -easy to install with provided instructions -not much drilling required to mount new brackets

Cons: None that I can think of. Very happy with them and the ease of the installation.

Bright and fit in 2013 Prius Dash

These are to replace dash speakers in a 2013 Persona without JBL and with Navi. Though it's noted as not fitting, they do with just some slight trimming and new mount hole. These were very bright when compared to stock speakers. Almost too bright as I had to turn down the treble gains.

Pros: Great value!

Cons: A bit too bright and in higher frequencies.

These little guys are amazing for the money! Easily the best least expensive money I've ever spent on sound! They do struggle with the bass though, so I Highly recommend bass blockers to go with. Once I put those in, I got super clean and clear highs!

Pros: Crisp, clear, clean! Price!

Cons: Bass response (get bass blockers if you don't have a crossover)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My 2007 Grand Prix GXP Monsoon system has a center channel speaker on the dash. The factory speaker was a little crackly and fuzzy and fuzzy distortion. The Kicker speaker not only fixed the problem, but sounds clearer, with more smooth highs. It's also very easy to replace, thanks to Crutchfield including the speaker wire harness adapter! I must say that this Monsoon system (at least in my 07 GXP) is a sad excuse for a premium sound system, but the new Kicker speaker was a quick and inexpensive step to correcting that!

Pros: Low price, easy to install

Cons: Only available in pairs. I totally get that speakers are usually in pairs, but since this speaker fits the Grand Prix 04-08 center dash speaker, it'd be really cool if Crutchfield would be able to break up the pairs and just sell one!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced all 6 horrible factory speakers in my new 2015 Ram 1500 with Kickers from Crutchfield. Of all the speakers, these little 3.5" two-ways were BY FAR the most bang for the buck in terms of sound quality improvement. I was shocked because I figured the 6x9 rears would be the most noticeable enhancement. Not even close. Sure, the large door speakers made noticeable improvements. But these dash speakers, at $29, completely change the listening experience. Bass is cheap. Rich mids and highs make the music. If you can't afford to replace all your speakers, I highly recommend these $29 gems. It's hard to believe that auto makers won't enrich the quality fit/finish/feel of a $45k vehicle simply by including $29 speakers. But I'm glad Crutchfield is here to help fix this shortcoming...their support is fantastic. I ordered the wrong speaker (my mistake) and Crutchfield painlessly helped correct it. The free wire harness adapter and mounting brackets save a ton of installation time. It was truly the easiest speaker-job ever. And I was beginning to question my decision to upgrade until I installed these inexpensive, yet incredible, $29 speakers. To think, I almost skipped replacing the dash speakers because they were "just 3 1/2"..."

Pros: Fantastic sound Easy install Great value

Cons: None...except I should have replaced the factory speakers sooner

Kicker 41DSC354 Review

Written by: Baldy Larry from Long Island, New yORK on May 26, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As one of the previous reviewers, I too also have a 96 Miata. Based on his review I purchased the Kicker 3.5 "speakers. My Miata has only 16K mileage on it and the previous owner was an older gentlemen who did not play the radio much. So my stock speakers were in great shape but they do not produce much sound at all. So after replacing the original speakers with the new Kicker 3.5" there was a noticeable difference. Again just in the previous review they were replacing the Factory Headrest speakers and there is not much space in the head rest to fit any other bigger speaker. When I zipped up the headrest I did notice that they were not as clear as prior to zipping up the head rest. But still much better than original speakers. I might have to remove more of the foam in the headrest to get a little more air space around the speaker for a better sound. I think the size matters most since from my research no matter what company or brand you buy them from they will never sound as good as a larger speaker. They are more a midrange to high range speaker as one would expect. But with the top down and cruzing there is a much better overall sound equalization in the car. I thought about replacing the original 6.5' original door speakers but now they seem to work well with the new Kicker speakers so at this point I am going to keep them.

Pros: Price was good for what you get

Cons: none

1996 Mazda Miata
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to use in the headrests of my 1996 Mazda Miata MX-5. Even though Crutchfield doesn't call them a fit, the installation was easier than I expected. After unzipping the headrests and pulling down the plastic front cover, you will will see the old speakers. Start by unscrewing the 4 phillips screws that hold each speaker in their plastic housing. You may need to use something flat to "pry" the speakers out of the housing once the screws are out.

The speakers un-clip from the wires with simple blade terminals. Next, unscrew the 3 phillip screws that hold the plastic box in place. With those screws out, you can tilt the plastic housing out and down. The wires in my car had a little dab of glue where they entered the housing. I just gave them a significant tug and they popped loose (you may want a more advanced method). The connector blades on these Kickers are the exact ones in the headrest of the Miata. Comparing them to the factory speakers even the pos(+) and neg(-) terminals were the correct sizes, plug the speakers right in. Use electrical tape or terminal covers to prevent a short against the speaker itself! Now, their fit won't be the prettiest, but they press right into the foam until they hit the back outside corners of the headrest. I took the plastic cover I folded down, held it up and zipped up the headrests after replacing all 4 speakers (2 per seat). The headrests don't look any different than before, but they sound many times better!

Pros: Great sound, great quality speaker.

Cons: Not an ideal fit for my application, but no one who sees my car will know!

I put these is the dash of my wife's 2009 Chrysler Town and Country. The stock system with two pairs of 6x9 has ok base but poor highs. They were a great upgrade for the cost.

Pros: Low cost, good sound.

Cons: Make sure you put some high pass filters on them (4.7 uF capacitors if you want them to have the same range as stock). 3-1/2" speakers from any manufacturer don't like the base notes.

Great sound for a low price.

1992 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers replaced the original factory front door mounted speakers. They have a much better and richer sound than the factory speakers, especially on high frequencies, for which they were mainly intended. If you have a serious system with low frequency output, these should be used in series with Bass Blockers wired inline on the + side of the speakers. That will limit the amount of low frequency to these speakers. They sound clear and natural on the mid and high frequencies. For the price, a really great product! And Crutchfield couldn't have been better about working with me on selection and shipping. All around great experience!

Pros: Great mid and high frequency, and voice sounds.

Cons: None really, but as a tip, according to a Crutchfield technical advisor I spoke with, these should have Bass Blockers wired in series with the + side of the speakers to reduce any chance of distortion from low frequencies.

Pros: Fits perfectly on a RAV4 2014, good sound, low price

These little speakers are amazing. I installed them in the dash of my 2013 Chrysler 200. The install took me around an hour. The instructions in the master sheet helped but it could have been a little more detail as to where some clips are located. Overall the install was not bad for a beginner. The speakers sound amazing even with my factory radio. My stereo was really lacking on the high frequency but these have fixed the problem. I did install some bassblockers with these.

Pros: Direct fit Sound great

Cons: NONE other than now I have to purchase the door and back panel speakers to match the great sound these make.

I rigged these to fit in the head rest of my miata I could instantly see the quality of the build on the speaker. It puts out bass and treble I am ordering another set they were clear all the way up. And I have some 6.5 components that set the bass off it sounds like a much more expensive setup than it is this is the best for the price

Pros: Loud great quality built really shows why kickers got a good name.

Cons: Non yet you can't have unreal expectations from the size speaker

Really?? Fantasic Sound from a 3 1/2"" YES!!!!

Written by: Geoff from Jacksonville, FL on June 2, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Two points to the review -
1) Outstanding sound from a 3 1/2 inch speaker. These are REAR door speakers that screw in directly to the factory speaker frame with two screws. Easy to install - you WILL need to cut a small plastic ridge off the plastic factory speaker frame though, I used wire cutters and it worked fine. I was surprised that having 3 1/2 inch speakers in the rear doors would result in such fantastic highs and bright sounds coming from the system. They seem to balance very well with the 6 3/4" Kicker DSC674's in the front doors. I use these 4 speakers to replace a JBL 7-speaker system factory installed and the sound is amazing and much BETTER than the 11-year old system that came out of the car.
2) - Crutchfield does not provide factory harness adapter kit for the rear speakers. I called when I saw my order only provided a single set (front speakers) and was told I didn't need them. Either I missed something, or Crutchfield needs to update their files. I didn't want to argue the point so I took the Kicker provided wire tails and soldered them into the Toyota harness plug on the speaker side and then reconnected the factory harness plug. It worked fine but if I had been provided the Toyota harness adapter, it would have gone faster by about 30-minutes on each side. I solder all of my connections when doing this type of work. I never recommend 'taping' or splicing the wires in any electronic connection.

Pros: Sound fantastic and is better than the factory 3 1/2" speakers that came from Toyota.

Cons: No provided harness kit for speakers makes installation go back to the 'old days' of speaker installation.

Crutchfield response on June 4, 2014 It's not the case that harnesses aren't needed for the rear speakers, but that there just aren't any available for that speaker location in this vehicle. We're sorry our phone rep didn't clarify this point well enough. Fortunately, Geoff was able to handle the situation, and the phone rep has been poked with a stick.
