Kicker 41DSC354

Our take on the Kicker 41DSC354

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC354 3-1/2" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeters while sending the mid-range and lows to the 3-1/2" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC354's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They are what I expected for the price and size.

Pros: Very clear highs

Cons: Almost no mids or lows, but this is a 3.5" speaker

Great speaker

Bigbawse from Orland indiana on 7/2/2014

I rigged these to fit in the head rest of my miata I could instantly see the quality of the build on the speaker. It puts out bass and treble I am ordering another set they were clear all the way up. And I have some 6.5 components that set the bass off it sounds like a much more expensive setup than it is this is the best for the price

Pros: Loud great quality built really shows why kickers got a good name.

Cons: Non yet you can't have unreal expectations from the size speaker

Really?? Fantasic Sound from a 3 1/2"" YES!!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Two points to the review - 1) Outstanding sound from a 3 1/2 inch speaker. These are REAR door speakers that screw in directly to the factory speaker frame with two screws. Easy to install - you WILL need to cut a small plastic ridge off the plastic factory speaker frame though, I used wire cutters and it worked fine. I was surprised that having 3 1/2 inch speakers in the rear doors would result in such fantastic highs and bright sounds coming from the system. They seem to balance very well with the 6 3/4" Kicker DSC674's in the front doors. I use these 4 speakers to replace a JBL 7-speaker system factory installed and the sound is amazing and much BETTER than the 11-year old system that came out of the car. 2) - Crutchfield does not provide factory harness adapter kit for the rear speakers. I called when I saw my order only provided a single set (front speakers) and was told I didn't need them. Either I missed something, or Crutchfield needs to update their files. I didn't want to argue the point so I took the Kicker provided wire tails and soldered them into the Toyota harness plug on the speaker side and then reconnected the factory harness plug. It worked fine but if I had been provided the Toyota harness adapter, it would have gone faster by about 30-minutes on each side. I solder all of my connections when doing this type of work. I never recommend 'taping' or splicing the wires in any electronic connection.

Pros: Sound fantastic and is better than the factory 3 1/2" speakers that came from Toyota.

Cons: No provided harness kit for speakers makes installation go back to the 'old days' of speaker installation.

Crutchfield response on June 4, 2014 It's not the case that harnesses aren't needed for the rear speakers, but that there just aren't any available for that speaker location in this vehicle. We're sorry our phone rep didn't clarify this point well enough. Fortunately, Geoff was able to handle the situation, and the phone rep has been poked with a stick.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Product reviews from the Crutchfield Labs

Kicker's DS car speakers help you get better sound in your car, even if space is tight in your doors. Their thin profile helps them fit where other speakers can't.
