Kicker Magnet

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC44 4" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeters while sending the midrange and lows to the 4" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC44's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride. Grilles included.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 4" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI domed tweeter
  • power range: 2-30 watts RMS (120 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 60-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 88 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-13/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

I purchased these as a factory speaker upgrade. The sound improvement was amazing. They produce a lot of clear sound from a small speaker.

Pros: Sound, quality, ease of installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These little speakers kick butt. I replaced factory rear door speakers in my 2000 Forester with these (after adding a new head unit, front speakers and a subwoofer). The improvement was noticeable even with the upgraded new stuff in place! I never really used the fader to beef up the sound in back because it was lame....now the speakers add some nice power and definition!

Pros: Great sound for 4" speakers, super-easy install!

Cons: Not one thing

Great!

They have great range and give out good clean audio. Also the bass is smooth and doesn't overpower the audio and vocals.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased four of these (and two 6" versions) for OEM replacements in my 98 Rover Discovery. Even with the inexpensive head unit I was really impressed with the sound (I'm no audiophile however). The separation between high/mid/low is outstanding and while the bass is certainly not going to break any glass, the two 6" Kicker woofer replacements in the back door do a fine job. I couldn't be happier with the purchase...I got six great speakers.

Pros: Quality build Nice look Great separation Plug and play

Cons: I had to put them in a 17 year old car!!

Great Replacement Speakers

1999 Subaru Forester
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the rear door speakers in my 1999 Subaru Forester. Installation was a snap ... I didn't even have to remove the door panels, just popped off the speaker cover grills, removed four screws, unplugged the old, trimmed the new foam baffles, plugged in the new speakers. Now I'm ready for the next 250,000 miles on my "fishing beater".

Pros: Ordered the baffles and wiring harness with the speakers ... only a few dollars more. Really easy install. GREAT SOUND!

Cons: Can't think of a one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a fantastic sounding speaker to be so small. Sounds better than the 6 1/2 in Kenwood speakers in the front doors. Very sensitive for great sound from my factory head unit. Gets very loud with no distortion.

Pros: Sounds great with low power factory units. Wide frequency response. Well made.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was limited on what I could put into the front door application. These speakers are ok - not much for low end punch, but it's tough to expect a lot from this size. Definitely an upgrade from the past-their-prime factory speakers that had gone to mush.

Pros: Easy install, appear to be decent quality for the money.

Cons: Not much on the low end of the frequency spectrum. Don't get your hopes up too high and you'll be happy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Decent speakers for the price. They don't pack much bass punch, but what 4" speaker does? I'm also not running an amp. I tried a few other low-end 4" inchers and these kicker's sounded the best. Build quality was top notch and they fit great.

Pros: Value, build quality

Cons: Not much bass punch

2009 Volkswagen Jetta
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these as a replacement for the front door speakers on my 2009 VW Jetta. The install was easy and the difference in sound was immediately apparent. Before I swapped out these speakers, it always sounded like the speakers in the back doors were more audible than the ones in the front. I would actually have to nudge the fade a hair toward the front to offset this and make it sound like it was balanced. Once I put the new speakers in, I quickly turned the fade back to the center. It was crazy how much clearer and more powerful these speakers were than the stock ones. It was absolutely night and day. For the price of these, you really can't go wrong. I'm just angry that I didn't do it any sooner.

Pros: Great quality build. Price point is perfect!

Cons: I have yet to come across anything negative about this.

1985 Toyota MR2
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in a 1985 Toyota MR2, replacing the 30 year old dash speakers. As you would expect in a dash, there is no meaningful bass whatsoever. Highs are clear, but imaging also suffers as a result of the dash location (speakers are essentially directing sound into the front windshield). Easy install.

Pros: Good value, clear highs, came with needed hardware.

Cons: No appreciable bass response, but not unexpected given factory dash location.

decent little speakers, but use them wisely. here's what I mean, don't expect any bass from these speakers, in fact turn the bass off. now hook up a sub, turn it way up, and things change dramatically. these little guys become great mids and highs, crank it up and kick it!

Pros: great value!

Cons: no bass!

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

4/2 Hole Compatibility: Most 4" factory speakers use four mounting screws, however, in some vehicles, only two are used. The DSC4's mounting tabs can be removed, allowing installation in 4-hole or 2-hole applications. Care should be taken handling the speaker after any tabs are removed because the broken edges may be sharp. Please check the Find What Fits Your Car application to confirm fit in your vehicle.
