Kicker 41DSC54

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC54 5-1/4" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeter while sending the midrange and lows to the 5-1/4" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC54's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 5-1/4" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester surround
  • 1/2" PEI domed tweeter
  • power range: 2-50 watts RMS (200 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 45-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-13/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Kicker 41DSC54

Written By Steven, California on Saturday, May 02, 2015

I purchased these speakers and installed them in my 2011 Ford Fiesta this morning. I had to call customer service and a gentleman named Eli helped me determine which wires, using my car's wiring diagram and harness, to splice with the speakers. He made it quick and easy. Crutchfield's customer service is great and super helpful. As for the speakers, they sound great in my smaller vehicle. I'm wasn't looking for a serious upgrade. I simply wanted to replace one of the stock speakers in the front doors because one of them was buzzing at basically any volume level and driving me nuts during my commute. I went with these and they definitely sound better over stock. They seem to be very clear at higher volumes and they have plenty of bass for my needs. I just enjoy listening to my music without blowing out anyone's ear drums.

Pros: Excellent replacement for the stock speakers. Sound is quite clear at higher volume levels.

Cons: None as long as your expectations meet the specification of this product.

Great repalcements for my 13 year old stock speakers. I was tired of listening to those blown out shaky speakers. Can't beat the price!

Pros: Easy install with the supplied free hadware & wiring!

Cons: None

Great punch from A 5 1/4

Written By Ron, Massachusetts on Thursday, April 23, 2015

These little speaker replaced a stock sub and tweeter in my '03 Regal. Sound fantastic compared to the original. I have hooked to a 40 channel JVC head unit and it handles it great. I looked for a low frequency response speaker to handle some lows. Now don't get me wrong it's not going to have bass like a 10 inch woofer, but it holds it's own without distortion.

Pros: Price, frequency response

Absolutely Great!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My subs covered up my last pair of speakers. Theae kickers however are as loud if not louder than my subs. I don't have to turn all the way up to get to the volume i want anymore. I really recommend kicker. Before i thought alpine was the best, but i know that there is more out there now.

Pros: Loud Look great Easy install The covers keep them protected The noise is very balanced and there is no distortion.

Cons: I didn't buy them sooner

These are good cheap little speakers that are a great stock replacement. The fit was great in my honda civic with the supplied barckets. The sound was a much needed improvement from stock. This is not a competition speaker! But would recommend for a stock replacement.

Pros: Affordable quality, easy install and audible satisfaction.

Small speakers but great sound

Written By Ken H., California on Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I didn't speak to a Crutchfield team member before purchasing these speakers. Knew my 2010 Camry had 6X9's, but saw that these speakers would fit with the brackets they would send free of charge so I ordered them. The brackets weren't an exact fit, but it did the job. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchased.

Pros: Great sound The bass has some "kick" (pardon the pun) to it

Cons: Brackets that were sent weren't a perfect fit. But it still worked.

It's a great OEM replacement. If your stock speakers sound muddy, this upgrade will make a huge difference. Don't expect bass...these are a 5 1/4" speaker.

Pros: Kicker quality, clear tweeter

Cons: Foam surround. I'm partial to rubber in door speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I give this 1 star only because I made the decision to buy on my own. I know they were inexpensive, but I felt these speakers would be a definite upgrade from the stock Saturn Outlook speakers. These replaced the rear door panel speakers, so requirements were minimal, but I expected more than the equivalent of tin cans. I would replace them but it's just easier to adjust the fade to zero. Call a Crutchfield advisor before making your decision.

Pros: easy to install

Cons: sounds like a speaker from a 1950's transistor am radio. and that's not good!

Sounds good and fits like a glove

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers fit perfectly as did the connectors. The sound much better than the ones I removed. They are a direct replacement of the speaker in the OEM roll bar. I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler X.

Pros: Great sound and fit

Cons: The installation instructions said to reuse the original speaker grates. I assume because of a fitment issue in my Jeep. The Kicker grates fit nicely and are far more acoustically transparent. Throw your old ones out and use the ones in the box.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in a 2003 Ram 1500 Regular Cab...Installation was fine, just had to drill new holes like they said. The opening in the rear panels were larger than expected, looked like you could fit a larger round speaker but they installed fine. As for the speakers, they say "stock upgrade", but these sound amazing. Don't know what the next level of kickers sound like(more power range), but as far as sound and clarity goes, crystal. I have them crossed over with my CDX-GT640ui deck and no distortion at all. 17RMS and with a max volume of 50, my ears might bleed above 35. These may be just "stock upgrades" but they sound Great! I would recommend them for an aftermarket HU without an amp, but if you need them to be mind blowingly loud, maybe upgrade to the next level with an amp. I have been a Kicker fan when I was in high school back in the late 80"s and early 90's, and after 20 years, Kicker still gives you quality for a great price! Thank you Kicker and thank you Crutchfield.

Pros: Great sound and very clear. Look great. As most people should know, these are not bass speakers!! Just because it says woofer dosen't mean bass! They are quality MID's

Cons: Haven't found any yet, but have only had them for a week. Maybe, if you measured before purchase, you might be able to fit a larger round. I trusted Crutchfield and they told me 5.25 fits, 6.5 doesn't.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these for a 1994 Ford Ranger. Power handling is perfect for lower powered amplifiers in head units, which make these great for drop in upgrades to factory speakers. The sound is superior to factory speakers, from the upper frequencies all the way down to the lower ones (keep in mind 5 1/4" 2-ways aren't capable of playing sub bass notes). The speaker's build quality is top notch. Everything from screws, clips, and connectors pre-installed on the speaker wire make installation a breeze. The free mounting adapters from Crutchfield just sweeten the deal!

Pros: Sound Lower power handling for easy factory integration Quality of product

Cons: None

These were smaller than my factory installed, but I didn't realize that until I had the door off... sound excellent but even though they are rated for 50 watts, and my stereo is rated for 50 watts, these distorted badly when I cranked the stereo. I looked online and found that you need to buy Bass Blockers for smaller speakers

Pros: Sound great at low - med volume

Cons: distort at high volumes

Installed in 1998 Buick Regal - front doors, exact fit factory replacement. I'm not sure what the people complaining about lack of bass response were expecting, this is a shallow mount 5.25" speaker - it is NOT a subwoofer. That being said, this speaker does what it is supposed to do: provide good, clean midrange with crisp high end fills. Hard to beat it for the money.

Pros: Great price Shallow mounting depth, great for in-door installations Good sound quality

Cons: n/a

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are nice speakers which I bought for my 2003 BMW 325i. I got a set of four, my two back deck speakers were blown. I installed the two deck speakers first, and I have noticed that they don't perform nearly as well, bass wise, as the factory woofers in the front doors. I love that they have built in tweeters, but the bass just doesn't seem to be there. I'm not sure I will even install the other two in my front doors as it seems I'd lose all bass.

Pros: Built-in Tweeter.

Cons: Bass is lacking.

Get ready to turn your treble WAY back with these speakers. They have an extremely hot tweeter and boosting the base does little to overcome the 'sizzle' that overwhelms the mid-range. About equal to factory-original speakers but with less full-range sound.

Pros: Clear treble with good power-handling and distortion-free listening at moderately high volumes.

Cons: These speakers can be almost painfully 'hot' at times.

These speakers fit my 2004 Buick Century perfectly and sound great, which is the good news. The bad news is that there was no provision for the connection to the factory tweeters in the door. It was a relatively easy fix, but required soldering the supplied wiring adapter to the factory tweeter wiring. This was not explained I the instructions. Luckily I knew what to do and have the tools to do it.

Pros: Sound great.

Cons: Lacked instructions on connecting tweeter wires to supplied adapter.

Great dynamic range for a small speaker, where most speakers only give @60-20k Hz range this little 2 way gets down to 45hz adding a nice touch to your bass boost and clarity to boot!

Pros: Needed a replacements for the stock speakers in a 325i Convertible and anyone who has worked with this application knows there is not a lot of room to install anything different with out serious customization. Fit well into stock mounts and sounds great when coupled to a Fosgate R250X4 amp and Kenwood receiver.

Cons: No complaints here.

Put these in my silverado 99' regular cab with the wiring harness and door fitment adapter Crutchfield sent free of charge and it fit perfectly. I don't have an aftermarket stereo receiver in yet, but I know it will sound better than they already do. The bass is still distorted slightly when turned past the middle on my oem stereo but it is no where near as distorted as the oem speakers. Once I get the stereo I know my speakers will be crystal clear. I unplugged the factory tweeters because they do not turn on since the speakers come with one. Overall it is a great speaker and am glad I purchased

Pros: Clarity and loud

Cons: distorted bass with factory radio in 99 silverado

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in the rear doors of a 2014 Tundra DC, came with the required adapter and a wiring harness. The adapter and cables made the installation very easy. To optimize performance I peeled off the foam seals from the factory speakers so that the new hardware would be properly sealed to the door and the speaker sealed to the adapter. This seems to make a significant difference in the sound quality. The speakers are small so you can't expect big bass, the sound quality is very good and they are much better than the factory speakers. The improvement was very noticeable even with the factory head unit.

Pros: Great sound for the money!

Cons: All these kits would benefit from having new sealing foam in the kits to ensure that the assemblies are sealed like the factory components.

Super easy install following the included instructions (less than an hour for both). I'm sure there are much better sounding speakers out there, but for the money these sound great to me. My truck is a 12 year old work truck so I wasn't looking for anything fancy. For less than $200.00 I've upgraded the head unit and all 4 speakers all from Crutchfield. Couldn't be happier.

Cons: Needs a bit more power (via amp) to be perfect.

Replacing OEM JBL speakers on Tundra

Written By Drew, Lawton OK on Friday, May 23, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are excellent quality. I used these as a replacement for the OEM JBL premium sound on my 08' tundra. They went in in about 15 minutes per speaker with all necessary hardware supplied.

Pros: Quality speaker, great price, great sound, complete install kit included right down to the connectors and bracket. Perfect retrofit. Saved me $500. The OEM speaker was $350+ per speaker!

Cons: 4ohms mean these aren't quite balanced with the factory system. (But if I wasn't expecting this I might not have noticed to be honest.)

Easy change out the the kit and speaker foam protectors. Much better than original factory speakers for the low cost.

Pros: Sound is good. Easy swap out. As always excellent service and quick shipping by Crutchfield.

Cons: Bass is not strong. But for the price point the speakers are good.

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.
