Kicker 41DSC654

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC654 6-1/2" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeter while sending the midrange and lows to the 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC654's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride. Grilles included.

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI domed tweeter
  • power range: 2-60 watts RMS (240 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 40-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-13/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Product Research

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Mounting: In addition to fitting standard 6-1/2 and 4-hole 6-1/2 applications, the DSC65 also has a standard 6-3/4 bolt pattern. However, if mounted in a 6-3/4 location the holes for the smaller pattern create an air leak, which must be sealed using a speaker baffle, or something similar.

At Crutchfield, you'll get detailed, accurate information that's hard to find elsewhere. That's because we have our own in-house Product Research team. Needed to replace blown out rear speakers. fit perfectly and easy to install.

Pros: perfect fit for OEM placement

Cons: none

good upgrades

Written By erick j, Arizona on Sunday, March 29, 2015

These are a good upgrade for the price, pretty easy to install once you know what to do. the bass could be much better but i didnt expect much since i didnt have an amp. they are clearer than the factory speakers and they get pretty loud and do have good bass on certain songs.

Pros: clear sound better bass/sound overall

Cons: could have more bass

Just what I needed!

Written By Scott, Missouri on Sunday, March 29, 2015

Fit was good and the sound is great! I had a bad speaker in my 2006 Chevy crewcab with the Bose system. I replaced all 4 door speaker with these and the sound quality seems so much better!

Written By JamesR, 757 on Sunday, March 29, 2015

Amazing speakers, a lot better then my Sonys and kenwoods I had in.

Pros: Everything

Cons: I guess the only thing is the price. But still worth it.

Great sound

Replaced stock speakers with these Kickers. Left the stock receiver/CD/Sat radio. Old speakers...butter knives, Kickers...razor blades. 3 vehicles in past 15 years, 3 sets of Kickers. Won't go to anything else. Price and performance are great.

Pros: Sharp sound, great price

Cons: N/A

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For weeks I did research for speakers for my 2011 honda civic lx sedan and I could not be happier with these speakers! Running the right off the factory head unit and they sound great! I am about to get an alpine amp to pair with them to really get live to them! Best bang for your buck can not beat these speakers for the price!! I will definitely keep buying kicker speakers for all my cars in the future hands down!

For the small price unpaid for these speakers I am astounded by the sound quality that comes from them for such a low cost. Deep rich lows and peaking highs allow for a great replacement of my stock speakers at a low price overal.

Pros: Awesome deep sound, quality built, easy mounting

Cons: Grills look and feel cheep but aren't needed if doing a stock replacement

Impressive Speakers!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these because of my past experience with Kicker speakers and I am very impressed once again with the quality of this product and the clarity of sound! I was weary to purchase these at first after reading multiple reviews of these not producing much low end. After more research I found that was the case with many other models and brands and since i'm only powering these speakers with the receivers amplifier I wasn't expecting tons of bass anyway. After installing these and my new Pioneer DEH-X6700BT receiver, I found these speakers produced very adequate bass for a 6 1/2" woofer, even more than enough! I know there are some complaints out there, but it seems that if you have a receiver with decent wattage per channel, some kind of loudness control or bass boost control, you can produce very satisfactory low end! All in all I am very happy with these speakers from Kicker!

Pros: Clarity, good low end, good quality materials

Cons: None

Well Worth The Money

Written By CyN, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 04, 2015

The factory speakers for my 1996 Saturn SL, were simply put, atrocious. I was looking for speakers with reasonable sound quality for a just as reasonable price, and these Kickers more than satisfied that description. The clarity of the sound is excellent, and even at high volumes the speakers don't give off a tinny or rattly sound. With the exception of slightly vague instructions relating to the brackets required in installing the speakers, the installation was smooth. These speakers are much more than you'd expect to get when putting down a few bucks. Also impressive was Crutchfield's customer service. They were incredibly patient with me, and helped guide me toward purchasing these excellent speakers.

Pros: Price, Clarity, Installation

Cons: ...

Fantastic recommendation!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My 16 year old has a pretty cool 1999 Wrangler Sahara. After upgrading the non-factory head unit, the rear speakers were exposed...and blown. We needed replacements. I called Crutchfield and asked a few questions. After 5 minutes of sharing information about the application, the new head unit, and what my son was looking for out of new speakers, our rep stunned me by recommending a less expensive speaker. We talked discussed the advantages of going to a 6.5" speaker over the 5.25". He told me that minimal alterations to the soundbar may be needed, but the added sound quality would be well worth it. The Infinty 5.25" speakers we replaced were good in the Sahara, but the Kicker 6.5s sound incredible in comparison. Best of all for me is the fact that there was Zero alteration needed in the soundbar, especially since it has been 30 years since I've installed any kind of car audio equipment. Upgrading the Clarion speakers in the dash is next...

Pros: Easy installation, great price & service, fantastic sound for a 6.5" speaker, especially in a Jeep Wrangler.

Cons: The only con is that I didn't do this sooner.

Good factory replacement speaker for doors on Isuzu Trooper. Took a few days to break in for the sound to get to optimum. After that I am pleased with the sound. Keep in mind that this is not a high end speaker, but sounds very good for what the cost is. Don't know if anything better could be found that sounds better for the price.

Good budget sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this pair of speakers (along with the Kicker 41CST204 tweeters) to replace an Infinity 6030cs component system. I was not disappointed. These speakers are really loud and handle distortion better than some of the more expensive speakers I've had in this setup. They are built better and the material allows for cleaner midrange bass (my sole reason for buying them). I see a lot of reviews here about the bass, which should be handled by the subwoofer with these types of speakers. Excellent factory and aftermarket speaker upgrade. If you want to get bass out of a door speaker, be prepared to pay a lot more than this and have them running off a channel amp.

Pros: Pricing, nicely built (to last), extra parts, low distortion at high levels, good midrange bass.

Cons: None that I have discovered.

Sounds great compared to stock. Fuller sound. Replaced the factory stereo with a Pioneer which produces less distortion at higher levels. Lower frequencies are reproduced cleaner now.

Pros: frequency range

Cons: The mounting kit needed modifications on the tabs. I was getting vibration and thought it was distortion until I noticed that the tabs were loose in the slots.

Excellent all around speaker! These are a definite upgrade over the stock speakers (Infinity Gold) for sound and construction. These are the speakers that I wish I had in my car in high Great sound for a great price.

Pros: - Great sound for a great price - Great high range as well as lows - Sturdy construction - Powerful volume for the size

Cons: - Mid-range is a little weak

Put four of these speakers in place of factory, what they call, speakers. Sounds more much more like music now instead of noise. I can actually hear the highs as if setting in the same room as the musicians.

Pros: Great sound and all the required accessories were sent also at no extra charge.

Cons: Nothing yet!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace the base speakers in my 2015 Jeep Wrangler roll bar. The speakers sound better than stock , but they do have a lot of bass that distorts easily, probably because of the low wattage from the stereo.

Pros: price is good , sound is better than stock, fit my jeep perfect with the Crutchfield supplied adapters.

Cons: bass distorts

Disappointing low end

Written By The CDP, Winnipeg, MB on Thursday, January 29, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The sound is crisp and clean but very mid and high focused. There is no punch or depth to the low tones. It might be more a factor of 6.5" speakers as opposed to something bigger than these speakers specifically but even with the "bass" spectrum on my EQ cranked all the way there is hardly any low end.

Pros: Clean sound, no distortion until very high volume.

Cons: Poor low end bass.

Good Replacements

Written By Wendell, Texas on Sunday, January 11, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There are better sounding speakers out there but not at this price. These replaced a pair of Pioneer TS-A1675R speakers. The Kicker speakers have a deeper richer sound more so than the tinny sounding Pioneers. Not quite as much treble as the Pioneers but the fullness of sound produced by the Kickers makes them the better choice if you like your music loud like I do.

Pros: Can be played loud without sounding tinny or screechy. Quality construction.

Cons: None for the price.

Kick it up!

Written By Rob D, FL on Monday, January 05, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these based on other user ratings and of course the price. I also purchased separate Kicker tweeters to replace the factory ones. These are for a 2007 350Z. All of the speakers in the car are now Kicker. The speakers are far better than stock! I was actually shocked to see how low quality the speakers were in a 350Z Enthusiast model. They aren't the Bose upgrade but you'd still expect more than Clarion speakers with a magnet no larger than a quarter. The Kickers are very clear and don't distort at higher volumes (running on Pioneer Double Din 50x4 deck). The Crutchfield install instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I do not have a sub installed as I'm just looking for a clear sounding system with some decent mid bass which these speakers deliver. The speakers came with face plates (which I did not use), mounting screws and wires.

Pros: Sound and price

Cons: None so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these as a Christmas gift for a friend and the ordering experience was very easy. We were all a little confused when the installation hardware that was supposed to be included wasn't when he opened it Christmas day and like a dummy I had deleted my emails with the confirmation numbers once it had arrived. Thankfully, Jasan from the Product Support Live-Chat was super helpful and arranged to have the hardware sent out to us immediately even though it turned out to be an error on my part for forgetting to include the vehicle information so they would know which hardware to send. Wonderful customer service and I already know they speakers sound great since my friend bought these same ones for the front of his car a few months ago ;-)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For years I have read that installing aftermarket speakers is a simple and effective upgrade for car stereo but was always skeptical. Wow, was I wrong! I installed these Kicker DSC654's in the doors of my sons 07 Cobalt along with a pair of DSC6934's in the rear deck, retaining the factory head unit. Holy #$%%&!!!! Fantastic sound. Crisp highs, un muddled mids, punchy bass. And the sound doesn't fall apart at high volume. It was a bit of work, even for a handy guy with a garage full of tools. (Car interiors are not made to be removed), but the end result was worth it. I bought the speakers based on customer reviews and they were right.

Written By EfdEng3, Illinois on Wednesday, December 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace the stock (blown) speakers in my daughters' 03 Beetle. They sound much better than the stock ones, even with the OE radio. My only complaint is not much bass, but it seems all the speaker makers expect you to fill your trunk with subwoofers. Why can't somebody make a nice 6 1/2" replacement speaker, at a decent price, with good bass? They did before. She wants a new receiver for Christmas, so maybe they'll sound better with that.

Pros: Better than OE

Cons: Not enough base,

Awesome Upgrade

Written By Karl, Utah on Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Awesome upgrade for a 2001 Durango with Infinity sound system. Massive improvement over stock Infinity speakers. Stock head radio setup runs these speakers perfectly, and let's just say most normal teenagers are not even going to drive around listening to music as loud as the system can now go. I had Damage, Inc. blasting on the way to work this morning to see how they sound, and nothing short of amazing. Extremely clear with good base and bright highs even at very high levels. I think it even had more to go, but I didn't see a point in going louder because I'm never going to listen to it that loud. Very satisfied.

Pros: Amazing sound over stock Durango speakers. . Huge increase in usable volume. Build quality is very nice.

Cons: Crutchfield Install kit not perfect. Pins to connect the speaker to the mounting bracket are not long enough to use included washers. 3 point bracket arms needed for Durango install are 1/8 of in inch too long. All three needed to be cut to fit in the stock mounting spacers. 1 hole on mounting bracket does not line up with the rear door spacer, so the bracket has to be drilled. Not a big deal. No modifications required to the vehicle or speakers themselves.

I'm very happy with these. They sound great. Very clear as loud as I can stand them.

For other GM veh owners (I have a Silverado), the snap-in frame that Crutchfield gives you for these works great. And, if you want to use the foam speaker baffles, which I recommend, they work with the snap-in frame just fine.

Pros: Obvious solid construction. Sound great.

bought these kickers to replace all four of my stock speakers in my 2007 HHR. Sound quality is pristene, however; These speakers can handle a lot of power. I'm running these off of the factory stereo which doesn't seem to push them to their full potential. I will be upgrading my head unit soon to help solve this.

Pros: sound Great

Great So Far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the factory speakers in my 2000 Subaru Forester. They've performed just as expected (which is saying something, because I did not expect them to perform in their price range). I did a little chatting with a Crutchfield rep before making my purchase. After telling him what receiver I have and what my plans and budget are, he directed me to these (which were cheaper than the speakers I was asking him about previously). If you're not interested in investing in an amp and are just powering your speakers from your receiver like me then these are the ticket! They are an exceptional upgrade from factory and are light enough to be powered without the amp.

The only drawback is the lack of bass. But you have to expect that. I'll be investing in a sub with dedicated amp to round everything out, but I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

Pros: Price, Quality

Cons: Lacking Bass

Easy install, great sound

Written By Dan T, Lincoln, IL on Monday, October 20, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Kickers were easy to install. Actually went through all the motions of totally disconnecting all the wiring and totally removing the first door panel I did. Hooking up all those connectors to the door to finish the job was a real pain because of their awkward location. On the second door, simply took the panel loose and was able to access the speaker without totally disconnecting the wiring from the door panel, thanks to a neighbor who held the panel out of the way when I worked on the speaker. First speaker took about an hour; the second one was finished in about 20 minutes. I listen mainly to bluegrass and acoustic music; these speakers produce a million dollar sound with that genre. There's an abundance of bass and mids, and the high end literally shimmers.

Pros: Easy installation; terrific sound for the genre I listen to.

Cons: Can't think of a single thing.

Excellent replacement speakers for those who don't require window-shattering and trim molding vibrating bass. The "premium" stereo in my 2002 Chrysler 300 Special never really sounded all that premium to begin with, though an after market receiver and speaker replacements have helped.

Excellent budget speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the front doors of a 99 silverado to replace some older aftermarket pioneers. I am very impressed with the improvement in sound quality and volume. They definitely run louder than my previous speakers. I was impressed that titanium dome tweeters could sound this good. I would have guessed silk because they really aren't harsh at all. The mid-bass output is amazing, tight and packs a good punch. They don't handle the sub bass range well but I don't know a 6.5 that does. I try to keep the below 120hz and below cut way down and it really cleans up the rest of the sound. I don't think I could have gotten a better speaker at this price point and Crutchfield threw in the speaker adapters and mounting rings for free.

Pros: Clear sound, excellent tweeters, punchy mid bass

Much better than stock

Installed four of these speakers in my 2007 Silverado"s doors. Great sound.

Pros: Easy to install with Crutchfield supplying speaker mounts that fit directly into cavity. Had only to drill small hole for a screw to secure. Piece of cake.

Cons: none

a thousand times better than the factory crap that came with the car.

Pros: Great sound out of a small speaker

Cons: The factory grills were not used in my application. The speakers were hard to bolt in due to the weird plastic that went around the bolt hole. The install could be easier than Kicker made it.

I'm happy

For the price you get good highs and mids. I have 50 rms to them and they play nice and loud.

Pros: Quality and price.

Cons: Lacking a little bass.

Good Speakers- Fair Price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers deliver what they promise. They reproduce an eclectic variety of music styles (prog-rock to classical) clearly. A little boomy in the bass, but the rest of the band doesn't suffer. I'm happy with what I got for what I paid.

Kicker's kick!

Written By Anonymous, Lynchburg on Saturday, September 20, 2014

Great value for the money. Good solid sound given the small area (rear door) they were installed in.

Pros: Easy install with the Crutchfield supplied harness. These kits are one reason I continue to shop here.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Huge upgrade over stock. Sounded even better once I replaced head unit. Put these in rear doors of 2011 gmc sierra that had factory 5.5 speakers. Was able to cut out old speaker and mount the new ones to the old speaker mount. I'm sure would sound better run off an amp but I'm pleased with the upgrade as is. Wish I would have put some dynamat in the doors because the bass makes the doors rattle a bit.

Great factory replacement speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for a direct speaker replacement for the rear deck in an Audi A4 and have gone with Kicker's in the past with great success. No different this time. Great sound and quality for more than fair price. Tough to beat the quality and sound at this price level, not to mention a great brand.

Pros: Much better than stock sound and nearly a direct fit.

Cons: Required a bit of manipulating, but nothing more than expected.

Decent speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just replaced the front and rear speakers with similar Kicker speakers from the original factory speakers in our 2001 Honda Civic. These speakers have clean, crisp sound and are a great improvement over what we had in there before. However, I'm finding they don't have quite the oomph I was looking for - I'm still fiddling around with the (also new) receiver to adjust the treble and bass, but at least so far I can't get the bass presence I want to hear.

Pros: Clear sound

Cons: Not enough bass

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced completely blown stock front door speakers in my 2005 nissan sentra with these and they are great. The install was easy, and these speakers put out a nice clean sound. Even my non-audiophile wife noticed a huge difference between the old speakers and these.

Pros: I love the price, and the bass is decent. I listen to a bit of vocal/choral music and these also produce good clean highs.

Cons: None yet.

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice speakers. They fit just fine in my 2006 Chevy Avalanche. I replaced my tired stock speakers in all 4 doors. Didn't want to spend a lot of money and these speakers fit my needs. These speakers are constructed well. I don't think these speakers will last a long time.

Pros: Speakers sound very good, even with a stock head unit. Great price and I like the fact that Crutchfield supplied wiring harness and speaker brackets.

Cons: None at this time.

Great speaker upgrade!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced stock speakers in a '12 Civic coupe with navigation and 350w "premium" sound system. After about a week or so of breaking them in, they are noticeably clearer and deeper than the OEM speakers. They sound great at low and high volume. The installation kits and instructions were VERY helpful (though the rear speaker mounting holes didn't quite line up). All in all a very effective and low cost upgrade to the factory sound system.

Pros: Great bang for the buck, nice construction, easy install with Crutchfield supplied adapters and wiring kits.

Cons: None.

Pros: Price, build quality, and sound.

Cons: They could be a little more install friendly.

After trouble shooting the original speakers on my 2009 Cobalt I found that the paper cones were leaching water into the coils, causing them to not work until they dried out.
