Solid sound

The 41DSC654 6-1/2" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeter while sending the midrange and lows to the 6-1/2" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC654's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride. Grilles included.

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Mounting: In addition to fitting standard 6-1/2 and 4-hole 6-1/2 applications, the DSC65 also has a standard 6-3/4 bolt pattern. However, if mounted in a 6-3/4 location the holes for the smaller pattern create an air leak, which must be sealed using a speaker baffle, or something similar.

Q
Do I need to get a new amp to use the rear deck speakers?
john  Feb 11, 2016
1 answer
A
Sorry I would need some more information to answer that. If you are simply replacing stock speakers, no you won't need a new amp. if you are adding them to a rear deck, you will need an amp.

Q
Do I need to buy new speakers for the back seat doors as well? Or is just the front okay?
scotty  Jul 10, 2015

A
If they sound OK without distortion I would not replace them. There is no electronic reason to replace if they work and sound OK.
william m  Jul 14, 2015
A
I would replace them all
marcy  Jul 13, 2015
A
If you are installing in certain model dodge trucks as I did,the majority of vocals and music comes thru the rear speakers. The front door speakers are for base. That is the way the stock system is designed. Not knowing the radio being used would make the difference in the type of front door speakers.Hope this helps a little. John
john  Jul 13, 2015
A
replaceing all the speakers would sound a lot better, but is not needed if the speaker are still good. I replaced the front door (they where blowed and not working) on my jeep with these and they sound good I just the head unit.
anthony  Jul 12, 2015
A
Is worth it to do the back now, a lot of the sound makes it into the front anyway and once you have the door unassembly figured out its just worth it to do the back at the same time.
david  Jul 12, 2015
A
If you are looking for overall improved sound quality you would be better off doing all 4 doors.

Q
Can you connect these speakers to an amp?
marco  Jun 19, 2015

A
I would say yes if you wire them correctly and stay under the wattage limit. I've had mine for quite some time & am very happy with them.
michael  Jun 22, 2015
A
Yes, I have mine hooked up to a Alpine KTP-445U amp which is connected to my stock radio. In addition the speakers are connected to a Kenwood KSC-SW11 under seat subwoofer. Sounds much better than stock.

Q
How was the bass (when not using amplifier, just directly connected to head unit) compared to your stock/factory speakers?
solon  Mar 24, 2015
5 answers
A
Bought these for highs and mids. It's ok a little better than stock but with highs and mids. Little speakers really shouldn't be used for bass.
edward  Mar 27, 2015
A
great improvement - like them a lot.
francis  Mar 25, 2015
A
Impressive & solid, way better bass then other speakers at that size (powered via head unit only)
aj  Mar 25, 2015
A
Much tighter, no l
donald  Mar 25, 2015

The bass is decent but it's not gonna rattle you ride if that's what your looking. Pleased with the sound quality in my daily driver.

Q
Original speaker is a 2 ohm.. this is a 4 ohm.. what do I do about this?? bob
robert  Mar 14, 2015
1 answer
A
Wire it in parallel. You get more power out of this setup anyway. Put a jumper wire from one negative speaker connect to the other positive speaker connect and wire the pos and neg amp terminals to the remaining connects. It should be like: (positive amp terminal) to (positive speaker connect #1), short jumper wire from (negative speaker connect #1) to (positive speaker connect #2), then (negative speaker connect #2) to (negative amp terminal). Pretty sure that's how I set mine up, but check Google "4-ohm to 2-ohm subwoofer" or call crutchfield. They're actually really helpful with simple questions.

Oh course, all new speakers come in pairs. Subs is a different issue.
edward  Feb 17, 2015
A
They are $59.99 per pair - so you do get one per front door.
francis  Feb 16, 2015
A
Not sure what you are installing them in but I installed in a 2007 Jeep Wrangler X & they fit in the dash as well as my soundbar. My Jeep doesnt have speakers in the door.
joshua w  Feb 16, 2015
A
Price is per pair. Great speakers for the money.
donald  Feb 16, 2015
A
Yes, it comes with 2 speakers. One for each door or side of the car.

No, you do not need an amp. Just speaker wire.
robert lee  Jun 05, 2014

Short answer is no. I have a pioneer stereo and four kicker speakers in my Neon. They were super easy to install and required nothing but the wiring adapter, which Crutchfield provided.

craig  Jun 01, 2014
A
No but to get the full effect from these speakers an amp would be advised.
robert  May 30, 2014
A
No, they run fine off of head unit power. That's what I'm using. An amp never hurts as a future upgrade though.
sean  May 30, 2014

I installed in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee, which has a cheap infinity stock amp. The speakers sound much better than stock. I was told when I bought them, they are a good factory replacement as they can run off little power. To answer your question, you don't need an amp, but I think an amp would definitely help them sound better. Look for a definite improvement over stock speakers though.
angela  May 29, 2014
A
No amp required. They will work well with even a low powered head unit.
michael  May 29, 2014
A
These speakers work just fine with stock stereos or after market. There power rating is just right for most stock radios 20 to 40 watt area. Amp would probable be nice .but watch your power rating. I installed them in an 01 Saturn L's with premium stock radio. Sounds great. Nice highs and tight base. For the money.great choice.
john  May 29, 2014
A
I am running a 50 rms 4 channel amp to 4 of these. They sound good. Bass with no presence.
robert  May 29, 2014
A
No, they run just fine off of either a stock head unit, or an aftermarket one. However, an amp will give you much better sound and will allow you to hear parts of songs you never could before.
