Kicker 41DSC684

Here's the Kicker

As if Kicker wasn't already stiff competition for any affordable car speaker, their DS-Series speakers once again raise the bar. In addition to providing excellent sound, these Kickers offer a thin profile that allows them to fit in more vehicles.

Solid sound

The 41DSC684 6"x8" speakers will give you clarity like you've never had with your factory speakers. The 2-way design recreates a dynamic sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeter while sending the midrange and lows to the 6"x8" polypropylene woofer. The 41DSC684's highly sensitive design conjures hefty volume even from low-powered factory radios, so you can crank your tunes and keep 'em blasting the whole ride.

Highlights:

  • 2-way car speakers (pair)
  • 6"x8" polypropylene woofer with ribbed polyester surround
  • 1/2" PEI domed tweeter
  • power range: 2-50 watts RMS (200 watts peak power)
  • frequency range: 45-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-5/16"
  • impedance: 4 ohms
  • grilles not included
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you are tired of listening to the scratchy, noisy OEM speakers in your new Ford pickup; try these. Low cost, pop right in, and you won't believe the improvement in sound quality. And the quality is there throughout the range. You can crank up the volume and no noise, just bright clear sound, something I could never get with my OEM speakers.

Pros: Moderate low cost Exact fit, no problem with the center tabs on 2014 model Ford Bright clear sound

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although the kickers I put in the rear doors are better, these are doing just fine. They seem to be a bit "raspy" compared to the rear door set but they come out of it as the volume comes up a bit. I'd say I'm happy with them back in the third row....If they were on the front stage I would most likely go down to a 3 star but as I have them way back in the third row I don't hear the rasp unless I'm back there.....and with the volume up to where I can hear them in front the rasp is not there and they sound good.

Pros: Good for the money and do what I need them to in the position I have them in.

Cons: raspy al low levels...but it does go away when fed a little more volume

Great factory replacement speakers!

These are great speakers that I used to replace the factory door speakers in my 2007 ford f-150.

Pros: Sounds great, easy to install and affordable.

Cons: One small thing to note is that there are brackets on the long ends of the speaker that had to be bent/ removed to fit into the factory mold in my doors and Crutchfield did not mention this in the installation instructions that I received. A pair of pliers and a little elbow grease took care of it.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought 2 pairs of these Kicker's to put in my 2011 Ranger extended cab. I'm running them off a Sony MEX-N5100BT. I have the head unit high pass crossover set at 60hz so not to damage them from bass they just can't reproduce. The mid and highs sound very good tho, and the speakers look to be well made. I recommend these to anyone who has the need for a great sounding and affordable factory upgrade, or to anyone who wants great speakers to run off an aftermarket head unit. Kicker has never disappointed me. Ever!

Pros: Sound quality Build quality

Cons: None

2006 Ford Expedition
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 2006 Ford Expedition to replace factory speakers. The fit was perfect. I had to cut off a thin metal mounting tab on each speaker before installing in the factory opening, which anyone should be able to do (I'm sure the speaker was designed to fit multiple vehicles and the tabs were designed to be removed). Speakers sound great when paired with my new Clarion head unit. Bass hits surprisingly hard considering the size of the speakers. Recommended!

Pros: Great value, good fit, sound terrific.

Cons: Needed to remove one mounting tab before installing (really easy-to-do)

Put them in the back of my 2002 ford explorer sport trac, Already have some polk's I got from Crutchfield in the front. So wanted to round out the sound and they did not disappoint! Like most of the other reviews say, you're not going to get a ton of bass, but it suffices. Great price for a solid set of speakers, and of course with Crutchfield install is a breeze. Took me 15 minutes to put both in, love it!

2002 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the dollar, a solid entry and quality build. I use these as rears in my '02 F150 (*Note- poor fit, magnets hit inside mechanism- had to space these with a nut between speaker and mounts) as another brands was listed as not recommended (but would have fit perfectly due to less depth). Anyway, firs thing I noticed were the baskets- almost thought they were cast at first! Just some good powder coated and heavier gauge stamped steel. But...I did like that. sound is more than ample for me. Not all the low range I was looking for, but I don't really need it either. For the money...got zero complaints and would buy again.

Pros: Good range of sound, quality materials- solid basket, heavy.

Cons: Fitment advice was not real good this time- usually is right on the money. Not a fault in the speaker build.

I purchased the Speakers as a replacement for the factory speakers in my Ford F-150. Fitment was as it should be. The included speaker wire attachments were a great bonus! No need to cut the speaker wires and void any warranties. I am really pleased with the sound . Bass is not to heavy! Makes a great all around upgrade to any vehicle with stock speakers.

Pros: Great sound! Fit was perfect! Just a all around great product! Great price for a upgrade to a person on a budget , still wanting to have a good sound. I like it..

Cons: I think the only bad thing to say is that I am not able to purchase more at this time. :)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my 2011 F-150 after reading the mostly positive reviews. I removed the front 2 speakers and replaced them. The Kickers and the ones that came out have what looks like the same size magnet. They are both made in China. There is about a 20% improvement, hardly worth the effort and the cost. I have the factory standard radio which I suspect is the culprit. The free speaker wire harness is great. The Crutchfield experience is good too. If you think these speakers are the silver bullet to get your factory radio to sound really good, they won't.

Pros: Good service, nice free connectors, fast shipping.

Cons: Not a major improvement over stock.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These Kicker speakers are a nice upgrade from the stock F150 Fx4 Sony speakers. After only 14 months of owning my truck, the left rear door speaker started making a high pitched buzzing sound. Instead of dealing with my local Ford dealership,(service dept is horrible) I decided to shop around for replacements. Crutchfield had a nice price and shipping was fast. I got my speakers next day. Could not be happier. Also on a side note, If you have the Sony sub under your back seat, I would recommend adding some washers to raise the sub up about a 1\4 inch to get a little more bass out of it.

Pros: Nice clear sound. Easy install-Look online for videos for door panel removal.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed two sets, front and rear, in my "04 Ford F-150 Super Cab. Had a bad rear speaker drivers side and could not fully use the attributes of the JVC KW R900BT head unit that I installed a while ago. The high and low tones are so much improved; sharper and stronger. I reset the sound settings in the JVC and these speakers handle it very well. We all know the factory "paper" speakers are poop and this upgrade for just over a hundred bucks makes a world of difference. Played a few jazz CD's and the Coldplay CD Ghost Stories - wonderful sound. Couldn't tell much difference with FM stations though, I only listened for a short time.

Pros: These are a two-way speakers and the stronger high and low tones as compared to the factory installed speaker are worlds apart. The cost, at a nickel shy of $60.00 for two units is a reasonable market price. Crutchfield sent along the proper adapter cables that are compatible with the Ford wiring system.

Cons: Just installed them early today - no know "Cons" at this date.

2005 Ford F-350
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They sound much better than the Infinity speakers I had on my F-350. Highs are crisper and lows are lower than the Infinity 6x8's.

Only drawback is that on one speaker, one tweeter wire was not soldered correctly (or had come off) on the speaker terminal. Nothing 2 mins and my soldering station couldn't fix.

These speakers that i have purchased are simply amazing. Sound quality was big factor when choosing door speakers for my Mercury Grand Marquis. I havent had any problems with the kicker whatsoever. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anybody who likes good some with not too much bass. Honeslty, i think my speakers could competitive. Dont plan on changing these little guys anytime soon!!!

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker DS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for their rigidity and light weight. Polypropylene is also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Mounting Applications: While Kicker describes this speaker as a 6x8, it also fits many 5x7 applications. Please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm fit.

I did not use an amp [ Leon  Aug 20, 2015 ]
You do not need an amp. An aftermarket radio would certainly be better versus the factory radio, but it will work. [ Brent  Aug 19, 2015 ]
No you will not need an amp to run the speakers, although with an amp you will get much better and clean clear sound quality... [ Michael  Aug 19, 2015 ]
Not necessary to use an amp . [ JOHN  Aug 19, 2015 ]
I don't think they do ? I put mine in my doors , I'll check the box to make sure [ JOHN  Feb 17, 2015 ]
No, they do not. [ Timothy  Feb 16, 2015 ]
No. Just the speakers. [ Aaron  Feb 16, 2015 ]
No they do not. Most 6x8 speakers do not because they are for modern vehicles that integrate the grille into the door panel or other parts of the interior. [ THOMAS  Feb 16, 2015 ]
