Product Research

Features

Dome Tweeters: The 3/4" silk dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response. Silk is lightweight and great for high frequency extension and efficiency. It is also designed for durability in the extreme automotive environment. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Crossovers: The passive crossovers are in-line with the included speaker wire. The slope is 12dB per octave and the crossover point is 4,500 Hz.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations; flush-mounted, angle-mounted, and surface-mounted:

  Flush Angle Surface
Mounting Height 0.375" 0.67" 0.905"
Mounting Depth 0.628" 0.555" screw depth

Customer Q&A

Q
According to what I have read, my headend (2014 ford f150 sync system) has crossovers built into it for the a pillar tweeters. If true, should I still use the crossovers that come with these kicker tweeters in addition to the built in crossovers?

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see how this integrates.

Q
adding these to my front speakers would change the ohms to 2 ohms using the supplied crossover?, my amp i am using is only 4 ohm stable, its a small 45 watts rmsx 4 kenwood amp and it said 4 ohm stable in the specs im sure

A
While the addition of the tweeters would only present the 2 Ohm load in the higher frequency range, it's still not recommended to add them if your amplifier has a minimum recommended impedance of 4 Ohm per channel.

Q
Will these work with my Rockford fosgate p16-s component set?

A
Probably. As a customer who has bought the KST-20, here are my thoughts. If you intend to use these as a substitute for the tweeters that came with your Rockford Fosgate P16-S component system, keep in mind that the KST-20 tweeters have in-line crossovers built into the wiring for each tweeter. According to the product description for your P16-S component speakers, there are high-pass crossovers built into the woofer housing, so that when you connect the tweeter wires to the second set of terminals on the woofers, (which are marked "TWT") the signal going to the tweeters has already passed through a crossover. I'm not an expert, but I am fairly confident that only one high-pass crossover should be used per tweeter, whether it's the in-line crossover of the KST-20, or the one built into your P16-S woofer housing. So, I recommend connecting the tweeters directly to the speaker wires instead of the "TWT" terminals on the woofers. If connected directly to the speaker wires, you would only be using the in-line crossovers designed for the KST-20. There is another possibility if you wanted to use only the P16-S crossover, but that would involve significantly modifying the KST-20 wiring, which would likely void the 60-day satisfaction guarantee, and, although I believe the crossover slope on both your P16-S and KST-20 tweeters is 12 db per octave, by using a crossover other than the in-line crossovers of the KST-20, the tweeters could potentially receive frequencies that are lower than that which they are designed to handle, and that may not be good for the tweeters. I would suggest using the KST-20 tweeters with their in-line crossovers by connecting the wires directly to the speaker wires, (not the TWT terminals). This should ensure they are only receiving the frequencies they are designed to handle, and that the signal isn't being modified by more than one set of crossovers. Hook them up and give them a listen. Hopefully you'll be thrilled! Good luck!
