Serious upgrade in bass for my 2006 Jeep Wrnagler
2006 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Ease of Use
This Kicker subwoofer really provided some thump to my Jeep. Wanting to upgrade all the stereo components, I decided on this sub as the replacement for the stock "subwoofer". I chose to go with the "scratch and dent" model offered to save some money on my project. The speaker fit the opening after some modifications. The 6 3/4" speaker fit the hole replacing the 6.5" factory speaker, although it is slightly off-center. The depth of the speaker required some modification to the factory sub enclosure. I simply used dike pliers and vice grip pliers to snip away the plastic that required removing. I called Crutchfield's tech support to discuss the series or parallel wiring options and we settled on series. After wiring everything up, I used the advice from Crutchfield's tuning an amp/subwoofer article and now I have thumping bass in my Wrangler. This Kicker subwoofer really lives up to its name adding the kick to my sound system.
Pros: Lots of punch for a 6.75" subwoofer.
Cons: The instructions could use more detail in describing the series or parallel installation of their product.
